Oh, and the pitch looked to be in surprisingly good condition. On tele anyway.
Lovely run to set up Nsue for the goal. That nutmeg.

Transfers 2015/2016

Also decided to release first team squad members Sébastien Puygrenier, Jamel Aït Ben Idir, Karim Djellabi, Geoffrey Lembet and Henry Ndong, and 27 youngsters. Been trying to sell the likes of Pierre Bouby, Livio Nabab, Diadidé Diarra and Amary Baby too but without any luck.
Other major transfers in Ligue 1, meaning Monaco and PSG's transfer dealings:

Just like many other clubs throughout France, AJ Auxerre are of no exception when it comes to producing young talents. With a population of only 39,000 the club's local recruitment area is obviously not the biggest one, but thanks to the city's closeness to Paris and it's surrounding suburbs combined with the club's well-established scouting network, Auxerre have managed to produce some of France's finest talents through the years. Also meaning very few if none of them have been actual local lads hailing from the city itself.
This year's youth intake might not compare to the likes of Phillippe Mexes, Djibril Cisse, Bacary Sagna and Younes Kaboul etc. but let me present the kids nonetheless. These are the most interesting this time around:

Indeed. And it's always extra fun when you get something like that from a player it's not expected of.

Ever heard of a man called Vincent Gragnic? No, you probably haven't. Then let me have the honour of introducing him to you all. Back in the summer of 2007 he followed in the footsteps of Mathieu Valbuena and made the trip from minnows FC Libourne to giants Marseille, but unlike le petit vélo (the small bike) Gragnic was never a success and only made 3 appearances for l'OM before moving on to Reims after a loan spell at Troyes. Those 3 apps is still his only taste of football at the highest level in France. In the Ligue 2 however, that's where magic happens. He's been our best player by far this season and a real joy to watch all season long. And this time, this time, he won't fail in Ligue 1.

'A Temporary Transfer to a Club may not take place in the Transfer Window in which the Transferor Club acquired the Player's registration.'
Chelsea would be allowed to sign Kramaric and then loan him out to a club abroad however, as they did with Zouma last year. And Liverpool with Origi.

A magnificent run of wins both in January/early February and towards the end of the season, combined with our Mourinho-esque ability to get something out of every match (only three losses in the last 20 games) proved to be the main factors behind our fantastic promotion. One that I hadn't seen coming that easily. Nor in such superior fashion. At one point we even had an astonishingly 10 points advantage on the team in second place, but obviously lost that due to the poor run of form halfway through the period. The 4-1 win at home to Tours proved to be the turning point as we from there on and out totally dominated the league.
It's been a good year no doubt about that, but as far next season's concerned I'm not overly confident that the current bunch of players has got what it takes to avoid relegation. Ligue 1 is definitely a whole another level and the side's in need for some quality signings. Thankfully the board agrees on that an even provided for a cash injection of nearly £6M to help improve the shitty finances.
Thats's our owner already. All hail Emmanuel Limido!

A nine game winning streak ain't 'too badly', yeah.
Thanks! Yeah, I'll come back to that later on.

Any idea of what could be wrong? The two 'bars' are not complete as you can see. The continue bar and the 'overview, contract... etc.' bar

Apart from the last two games, Lyon in the Coupe de la Ligue and Niort in the league, we really enjoyed a good run of games before the annual winter break. The scoreline in the Lyon game didn't really reflect the action on the pitch, but I guess it was a bit of a morale killer as we were extremely bleak in the final game of the period. And even lost to Cannes in a winter break friendly.
Still topping the league halfway through the season though.
King Eric approves
Always enjoy the start of a new year as the hunt for bosman players begin. To take part this time around though I had to the cancel the loan of Remi Mulumba from Lorient. One of our key players up until now but what don't you sacrifice to find a new gem or two, eh? To compensate a little I brought in a bunch of freebies on trial and ended up signing two of them. Actively tried selling a bunch of fringe players on expiring contracts also without any luck.
Finances gradually went to shit as there's no money in Ligue 2 and I struggled to sell any players.

In other news Sadio Mane (Senegal), Mehdi Abeid and Essaid Belkalem (both Algeria) have been ruled out of the tournament due to injuries. Jeff Schlupp (Ghana), Stephane Mbia (Cameroon) and Ismael Diomande and Max Gradel (both Ivory Coast) are also doubtful.
Meanwhile hosts Equatorial Guinea have fired Basque coach Andoni Goikoetxea and hired Esteban Becker as his replacement just two weeks before the tournament kicks off.
