S.L. Benfica are one the biggest sides in Portugal, and they will be your club to manage for this first stage of the tour. As you are one the biggest sides in the country you will have some of the best players, the best facilities, the best youth, and some money to spend to help you dominate your rivals and qualify for European competition. Despite the fact you are a colossus in Portugal, you will need to strengthen in Europe and can expect to have it tough at times against the major European sides. Do you have what it takes to keep up the domestic expectations saddled upon the Encarnados and get results in Europe?

S.L. Benfica

Founded on 28 February 1904, Benfica is one of the "Três Grandes" (Big Three) football clubs in Portugal. Benfica is the most widely supported football club and the twenty-sixth richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €109.2 million. The motto of the club is "E pluribus unum" and the official anthem is "Ser Benfiquista". Benfica team is referred to as "Águias" (Eagles) or "Encarnados" (Reds), while the supporters are called "Benfiquistas".
Domestically, Benfica has won a record of 32 Primeira Liga titles, a record of 24 Taça de Portugal (and 4 consecutively), a record of 9 Doubles, a record of 4 Taça da Liga (consecutively), 3 Campeonato de Portugal and 4 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. Benfica was the first club in the history of the Primeira Liga to have completed an entire 30 game season unbeaten, in 1972–73.

Primeira Liga

The Liga ZON Sagres is contested by 16 clubs each season, but only five of them have won the title. Founded in 1934, the league is in its 80th edition (counting four provisional championships in the 1930s) and is dominated by the nicknamed "Big Three": SL Benfica, FC Porto, and Sporting CP, who have a total of 77 titles, with Belenenses and Boavista winning the other two.
The league has been increasing in reputation in the last few years, having achieved 5th place in UEFA's European ranking of 2012, breaking into the top five and passing the French Ligue 1, one of the historical "big five" leagues, for the first time since 1990.

(1st July 2016), you can no longer collect points for this destination.

I honestly think the structure / layout of the forum needs to be looked at, in some parts its a little clustered and in others it may need expanding or re-ordering.

The forum should be looking at feature articles that should be placed e.g. the facepacks, logos, kits, stories etc. I am pretty sure this was done before.

As for social networking, this site does lack behind others. A couple of staff members need to grab the bull by the horns with this. It is important to sell the site on them but also keep members informed of what is going on with the site.

As ever if there is something I can help with, get in contact.

EDIT: The challenge idea is a fantastic one. Seen this done on another site and it worked really well.

I'd start over in China / South Korea and work there. By far the easiest way to enhance your rep and top league sides change hands quite frequently. You will end up at a decent side within a season or two. Move onto Africa an easy league to dominate, the Americas then head to Europe last. That's the way I have done it and always enjoyed doing it that way.

At the end of each season, the champion of the Eerste Divisie is automatically promoted to the Eredivisie. Eight other clubs enter the Nacompetitie, a promotion/relegation playoff that includes the 16th- and 17th-place clubs in the Eredivisie. The following teams qualify for the Nacompetitie:
The club with the best record in the "first period" of the season (after 8 rounds).
The club with the best record in the "second period" of the season (rounds 9–16).
The club with the best record in the "third period" of the season (rounds 17–24).
The club with the best record in the "fourth period" of the season (rounds 25–32).
The four remaining spots are filled at the season's end by the highest-placed clubs that have not already earned automatic promotion or qualified for the Nacompetitie.

Qualify for Europe also. 2015 is when they are allowed back in. Played a dummy test with Rangers a while back and won the Scottish Cup in my first season but got told I was barred from Europe until 2015. So good going there, a bit of extra money coming in also. Have you played Kundik towards the end of the season at all.

Aye Comolli won't join unless you can offer silly wages.

Doesn't matter though, was just a thing if you can get him just adds to what Soccernomics says.

I'm going to venture in the MLS, probably with DC United or San Jose Earthquakes.

Fantastic idea! Love it.

To add more of a challenge in ... only manage a club owned / run by an American (Chairman / Owner nationality is from USA) or start of in the MLS as it sort of replicates the MLB.

Also hire Damien Comolli as DoF. Beane has said he's the closest guy in football to himself.
