Flight was pretty good, but really forced. The crash sequence is bloody brilliant though.

Saw Hitchcock last night, thought it was pretty dull. As was Les Mis, Anne Hathaway aside.

Urgh, Lincoln.

I thought it was brilliant. Well written, well made and really well acted. I didn't think I'd like it too much but I thought it had so much going for it.

Zero Dark Thirty is brilliant. As is Lincoln. And Django.

Oh and Wreck-it Ralph was pretty awesome fun too.

Good week.

Any of you graphic-y types fancy designing me a quick logo/banner for a blog I'm working on? Nothing fancy or difficult.

I can pay you in thank yous and a beer. Maybe.

Ferguson has only said that to detract from his team's poor performance. I mean I don't think United were that bad, and Swansea have shown themselves to be good opposition this season, but nobody is taking about the game now.

That's not to say that it didn't make him look incredibly foolish, but I'm sure Fergie doesn't give a shit.

£12m is about right, considering his age, potential and nationality.

I think he's got the ability, and if Rodgers can man-manage him well and give him sufficient playing time I think he'll be a good signing. He scored plenty for Bolton and then was good at Chelsea under AVB when he actually played.

That Grimes band sound alright, bit annoying though.

I'm so behind with music at the moment, I think I've only listened to one album from this year, but that was Beach House which was fantastic.

Seven Psychopaths. Found it really funny and entertaining, and thought the cast was absolutely perfect. Think its maybe a little bit hollow but it was nice to see a film that was just crazy and fun so it doesn't matter too much.

Sam Rockwell is the fucking man too. That guy is great in everything.

It saddens me that Liverpool have started using it for Jonjo Shelvey, except that don't do any of the 'banging' or anything, they just sing it.

You think City fans made that chant up?

“When I arrived (at Liverpool in November 2010) Tom was at the end of his contract,” Comolli explained to talkSPORT radio.

“One of the first things I did was meet him and his dad, and Paul was concerned the style of play (under Roy Hodgson) was not suited to his son, who was a quick winger.”

“When Roy went I think we made four or five contract offers to Tom which he kept turning down…he didn’t feel it was the right place for him to stay.

“The last offer would have made him the highest-earning player beneath the first team but to be fair to him I don’t think money was the issue.

“We never released him. You don’t release a player like this, you can’t force him to stay. I am very pleased that he is doing well. If they buy him back, good for him and good for Liverpool.”

Good to see that he left because he wanted to play football and develop his own skills properly. Hope he's got the ability to make a contribution to the squad now. I've only seen him play for Blackpool a few times but every time he's looked pretty decent.

He'll end up at a much bigger club than Liverpool if/when he moves.

No offence.

Well of course, but I'm still grasping onto the chance that our situation will have improved in a few years time so we might be in for players like that.

Barcelona are apparently monitoring his situation anyway, and pretty much all the European elite will be wanting new keepers in the next couple of years so fuck it.

A boy can dream.

School boy error. Should have gone into research. No exams for me, just one essay and my thesis deadline in September. Cushy.

Well they're only worth 50% of my modules and my marks for my coursework have been good so there's not too much pressure. Next semester I've got two more modules I think and then my project after Easter which I'm looking forward to. Being in the lab all week is going to be sweet.

Whats the fee for Tom Ince?

Released on a free then bought back 18 months later is a bit of a bummer.

£6m apparently as they owe us 30% of any sale, so would have been £9m for anybody else. Newcastle and Spurs wanted him too according to reports.

£12m for Sturridge is a little steep too but not that overpriced. Still disappointing that these two are the results of the new transfer/scouting team we've got in for Rodgers. If we can add Walcott and/or some other good forward then I'll be happy.

Would have been surprised if Götze was interested anyway.

Well yeah there is that, plus he would have been far more expensive in terms of fee and wages than Henderson, but its still pretty indicative of the transfer policy we had in place.

Valdes has never been of the same quality as Casillas or Buffon (as two examples of great keepers).

Well no, but those two are the two best keepers of the past decade, so that's a bit unfair. Valdes was one of the best in Europe for a spell is all I'm saying, but you're right that he's not anymore.

I just got back from seeing it myself. I thought the first 30 minutes or so were awful but it got going after that to a pretty satisfying conclusion. Found the high frame rate to be really distracting, although as I got used to it it wasn't so bad. It made some of the CGI blend much nicer and the 3D was far better than normal, but it still took me out of the film far too much and made some parts look cheap and tacky.

Overall I enjoyed it, but I'm not massively thrilled about having another two 3-hour films before its the end of the story, though I'm interested to see what extra material they include.

What's Victor Valdes got to do with great goal-keepers?

He was immense a few seasons ago, arguably as good as anyone else. He's gone off the boil since then unfortunately.

Holy crap.

In other holy crap news, I watched Primer last night. Loved the concept and the way it was handled but I totally lost it about half an hour from the end, but I gather that's kinda the point. Really cool film though, especially considering how its basically one guy's creation.
