Warriors FC 2018 / 19 season update
The first game in September saw us take on DPMM in the second leg of the quarter final of the cup and we won comfortably 3-0 to send us into the semi final
We’re drawn against current S League champions Albirex in the semi
With 5 games to go, we’re in with a shout of winning the league. 3 of our last 5 games are at home and Albirex & DPMM have to play each other, so whilst it was unlikely at the start of the season, there is a good chance we can win the league.
We need some good performances as well as the other 2 teams to drop points to give us the best chance of winning the league.
We start our final 5 games with a poor loss to Young Lions which will open the door for Albirex to close the gap.
We were held to back to back 1 all draw with Huangang & title chasers DPMM (a last minute equaliser for us!) which meant we dropped to second with 2 to play behind Albirex, who still have a game in hand over us.
So our penultimate game is against Tampines and we need nothing but a win here to keep us within touching distance of the league.
Pathetic. 1-0 flattered us. That has to be our league ambitions over now.
Well it’s back to cup action now and we’ve got fellow title chasers Albirex in the first leg. I tell the team we’ve nothing to lose and to play their natural game. Part of me is thinking they might field a weaker side as they’re looking at the league as a priority.
WOW! If this had been in the league the title would’ve surely been ours, but we’ve definitely got 1 foot in the cup final now!
The final day.
Here we go then, the final day of the S League season. No matter what happens we’ll finish no lower than third, which is where we finished last season. Not only that, but as the other two teams at the top with us are ineligible for the Champions League we’re also guaranteed a spot in that competition next season too, and as the other 2 teams are heavy favourites for their games, I won’t be too disappointed if we don’t win the league.
We’re up against Home United away, and we really need a win here to give us a glimmer of hope of winning the league. IF we do win and either of the other 2 teams drop points, which is unlikely, we’re in with a shout.
Well maybe this season it just wasn’t meant to be.
I might as well check on the other 2 games seeing as they take place 2 days after ours, how did Albirex get on against Home United?
Well that is surprising. They clearly are still feeling the effects of getting battered by us in their last game.
Let’s see how DPMM finished so we know exactly what position we ended on
Scenes. Absolute scenes! Cheers Geylang!
I cannot believe this, cannot believe it at all! Alright we won on goal difference having scored 3 more than Albirex but a league title in my second season here is just nuts! I’d be lying if I said I knew we would win the league, I thought it was all over but we managed it, somehow! Despite not winning any of our final games we still managed to win the title on goal difference.
This will definitely help put me out there for future jobs along with the League Cup win from earlier in the season. Dare I say we could win a treble this season?
Next update will be the second leg of the semi final in the cup, if we get to the final and anything else of note.
Thanks for reading, it is appreciated.

The team you were building did look good though despite those early season losses to Arsenal and Man u. Have you not got a save from earlier in this career you can reload from?

The thing with managing clubs with barely any money is you get things like this. Hopefully I'll be able to splash the cash at some point in this save
June 2019
June 2019 was a great month for us with 3 wins and a draw which kept us top of the league. The draw with DPMM was a bit of a crazy game, it was 0-0 until the 85th minute when we took the lead only to concede a last minute equaliser. 3 minutes into the allocated 4 minutes of extra time we got the lead back, but right at the death in the 95th they snatched another equaliser. I can be annoyed at them getting a goal after the 4 minutes but we didn’t concentrate all the way to the end
We kicked July off with a big win over Home United 5-1
After that we never looked back and won the remaining 4 games of the month. 3 of these was in the league cup which sees us progress as group leaders.
August was a busy month for us. We kicked off with a 1 all draw away to Albirex before beating DPMM 1-0 in the first leg of the quarter final of the Singapore cup.
We then thumped Tampines 5-2 in the league cup semi final to set up a final clash against Home United
Here we are, my first cup final as a manager. A win here would do wonders for me as a manager as any success will no doubt help me in my career.
The game was your typical cup final with both teams going for it. Home United did take the lead in the 34th minute. We went straight at them from the kick off and found ourselves with a free kick edge of the box in the 35th minute. Blanpin is over it.
He hits it, and it bets the wall…
Top corner, keeper no chance, 1 nil!!
Half time and it’s all square. They’ve been the better team really. We’ve got a lot on in the second to get this win
Second half, despite both of us having a decent number of chances, us hitting the bar and our keeper keeping us in the game, we end 90 minutes still at 1 a piece. Extra time.
Shortly into the first half we get the ball out on the right wing and drive forward
We get the ball just outside the area
And then get it out to the left wing
Which gets swung in right in front of their keeper, and Suhaimi literally has to tap it in
He somehow scuffs it and the ball is loose
But Fabian Kwok is on hand to bury the ball home, 2-1!!
We hold on for the win!
My first cup win of this career and I couldn’t be happier. Hopefully this is the start of something good. We’re still in the Singapore cup and the league title is very much up for grabs.
After the jubilation of winning the cup we were brought back down to Earth with a disappointing loss to Geylang. I will put this down to fatigue, but apparently the fans aren’t happy
We end the month with a win over Balesiter to record a very good month for us. We're still top and depsite that loss to Geylang we're looking good.
Next update will be September and the run in towards the end of the season. We also have the second leg of the quarter final of the Singapore cup as well which will be covered in the next update.
Thanks for reading, it is appreciated.

We kick off this update with a win in our Champions League preliminary round against Muangthong of the Philippines. We rode our luck a little bit as we went 2 up before letting them score, but we’re through to the next round.
We’re drawn against Japanese opposition in the from of Kashima Antlers in the next round, and a very tough test.
We went down 2-1 in Japan to end our Champions League run. I’m not too disheartened at this as we’ve done well to get this far.
Pre season odds of a 5th place finish and we’re looking to beat that really.
We begin our league campaign with a good 2-0 away win over Huangang.
We followed that win up with a credible draw against current champions Albirex.
Which was followed up with another draw, this time a 0-0 with Geylang. We absolutely dominated this game and Geylang were very lucky to get a draw here.
Next 2 games of our first month of league games sees us record back to back wins over Balesiter 3-1 and a 1-0 win over Young Lions.
Confirmation of 5 games unbeaten now which was followed up (obviously) by our first loss of the new campaign, going down 2-1 at home to DPMM, which was especially disappointing as we took a very early lead.
The month was rounded out with a 0-0 draw with Home United which leaves us in 2nd place after 7 games.
Despite being 2nd in the league the squad are unhappy! Why I’ll never know, but I promise to increase the atmosphere, not sure how exactly.
May 2018
May saw us beat Tampines 3-1 and Hougang 4-2 to record big wins before another draw with ALbirex, despite them getting a very early red we just couldn’t use the extra mana to our advantage. Some good results there keeps us in 2nd place.
Rounding out this update is confirmation of us being drawn against DPMM who gave us our first loss in the cup.
It’s still early doors in the new season but if we keep playing like we have, a good cup run isn’t out of the question and we could end up near the top of the league.
Thanks for reading, next update will be the next round of league games and anything else of note.

To start us off I made a couple of signings to improve the first team. First in is center half Nahuen Lamas who will be first choice despite not being very tall, his heading is very good for this level
To play alongside Lamas is center half Afiq Yunos. Very good for this level and I’m expecting big things from this center half pairing
End of season review and we lived up to our pre season odds of third and a continental place.
Fixture list announced and first game of my first full season in charge is against Hougang.
Last signing before the season kicks off and we made a swap deal with Hougang which sees back up at best center forward Suria Prakash going there and we got center midfielder Fabian Kwok.
So the first game of the new season is actually our Champions league game and we’re drawn against Filipino team Ceres in the first preliminary round
This is a pretty nervy but even game before we get a free kick in the 37th minute
Blanpin hits it
The ball beats the wall
Their keeper gets a touch on it
But he manages to carry the ball over the line, 1-0!!
Deep in the first half new boy Lamas gets himself sent off and from there we’re under the cosh from then on. We do however hold on and win the game 1-0! Scenes, absolute scenes!
We’re drawn in the next preliminary round against Thai opposition Muangthong. We have to be confident of getting something from this game but we’ll see.
Last point on this update is I’ve started a coaching course which will hopefully help get more jobs later in the save.
Thanks for reading, next update (should be today) will be the next round of Champions League and first set of league games.

So after waiting a while for jobs to become available the following jobs came up:
Warriors FC in Singapore
UiTM in Malaysia
Sabah in Malaysia
Out of those 3 I think I’ve got a chance of getting either the UiTM or Warriors jobs so I apply for both
Not long passes and I’m invited to interviews with UiTM & Warriors, I attend both
I play the waiting game again before the phone rings. On the other end I hear the voice of Phillip Lam and he says 3 words – ‘Dmitri, save us’
My first destination on the journey is the great country of Singapore, in the city of Jurong East. A decent sized club in this country and a good starting point for my aim of conquering each continent. This isn’t a make or break job, the expectation is to be competitive. The club hasn’t done too badly really and find themselves 5th in the league.
On my first day in the job, apparent star striker Jonathan Behe moans about wanting to leave. I try to convince him but ultimately he’s not up for the fight. Transfer list and dropped to the reserves for you, I've got a mission to complete and I’ve got no time for hangers on.
I’m going to be setting this team up with a traditional 442 formation. It works the world over, is very easy to train and most players can fit into this set up.
Our first game is against Home United in the league. A win here would do wonders for me but more importantly the team as we need to get some good form going.
The game itself is pretty quiet up until the final minute when we got a corner. IT gets swung in by Suhaimi
It’s cleared by a defender
Only as far as Kasman on the edge of the box….
Who hits a sweet volley that 2 keepers wouldn’t have saved. 1-0!!
Other than that we saw out an even game. A great goal to give me a great start.
After this it’s brought up in the press that despite this teams lack of good form, whilst unlikely we can still win the title.
In our final league game of August we beat Hougang 2-0 to give me a 2 out of 2 record
Our final game of the month sees us in a second leg cup tie against Geylang who hold a 3-2 aggregate lead.
Despite winning this leg the away goals rule knocked us out. Oh well maybe next year.
First game of our final 4 games sees us take on leaders Albirex and we took a credible 1 all draw. Despite them getting a red card with 30 mins to go we couldn’t break them down. Still a draw against the leaders isn’t that bad a result
We then had Tampines at home and dominated the game with a 2-0 win. Another good performance to keep us going right until the end.
Another victory over Home united now confirmed our passage into next season Confederations cup which is definitely a good result for this team
The final game of the season sees us lose 2-1 at home to Geylang, my first loss at this team.
This where it gets slightly strange. Albirex won the league, however they aren’t eligible to compete in the AFC Champions league, neither are runners up DPMM which means we are awarded their places in next season competition. I think this is to do with Albirex being a satellite team for Albirex in Japan and DPMM being based in neighbouring Brunei. Not going to moan at this, it’s going to be good experience trying to compete this early on my career
That’s it for this update. We finished a respectable 3rd in the league and qualifying for the Champions League. I know 100% we won’t win that, we might not even get to the groups but I’ll give it a good go. My journey to conquer the world starts here in Asia and I’ve enjoyed so far.
Next update will be pre season stuff and the first round of games next season.

For those that don’t know, the Pentagon Challenge consists of winning the 5 Champions Leagues from each of the 5 continents in the base game which are:
• UEFA Champions League (Europe)
• CONCACAF Champions League (North America)
• COPA Libertadores (South America)
• AFC Champions League (Asia)
• CAF Champions League (Africa)
The aim is to win each of the above listed competitions in any order whilst starting off unemployed, with a Sunday league rep and no badges. As an added target for this challenge, I am going to aim to win each of the 5 Champions Leagues twice, with different teams! As well as this I have seen other people putting international competitions such as the Euros, Copa America, World cup and so on so I am going to add the World cup in the aims (see below) as well as the Europa League & Copa Sudamericana
I have seen on another forum some guy had completed this ‘challenge’ in 9 seasons, NINE! He was boasting at how easy it was yet the team he started off at was Guanzaou Evergrande (Chinas biggest team) before going to Kaiser Chiefs (South Africa’s biggest team) then Santos in Mexico, Boca Juniors and finishing it off at Dortmund. Now winning all 5 is an achievement but come on, those are some of the biggest clubs in their respective continents and winning the Champions League is expected from each of those teams. I am sticking to the traditional method of starting a challenge of unemployed and seeing where it takes me.
Other than the requirements for this save, I have a few goals I want to achieve during this save:
• Win each of the 5 Champions Leagues with at least 2 different teams - 0 / 10
• Win the Copa Sudamericana
• Win the Europa League
• Manage Rubin Kazan
• Manage Lokomotiv or Torpedo Moscow
• Win the Champions League with a Russian club
• Manage Russia
• Win the World Cup more than once
• Win the World Cup with at least 2 different nations - 0 / 2
• Become favoured personnel at 3 clubs - 0 / 3
• Become club icon at 2 clubs - 0 / 2
• Become club legend at 2 clubs - 0 / 3
On other forums I’ve seen people leave as soon as they win the Champions League in that continent, however I will only leave if there is a decent opportunity to do so, I won’t just leave if / when I win a Champions League. If you’ve seen any of my other threads you’ll know I like my saves to be as realistic as possible, and with that in mind I have Malaysia and Singapore loaded from the start as these nations rep is low enough to start the game at a realistic level whilst being able to build up my own rep to move on. As I like realism I will try to keep the career going at a realistic pace, I've seen others do it on the forums rejecting jobs that wouldn't happen in real life, an example I saw on another thread a guy was offered a job in France after only managing in Andorra for 3 seasons so he rejected it. I'll try and keep it as realistic as I can.
Leagues loaded from the start. The aim is to start in Asia and move either to South Africa or South America second:
As noted I will be starting unemployed with Sunday League rep and no badges:
The start of the journey then, and we’re following Russian football manager Dmitri Yshkvin (thanks Russian name generator) as he sets out from his home city of Kazan in the Southwest of Russia to embark on a worldwide journey in the hopes of conquering each continent.

UD Adarve 2018 - 19 play offs
I had a feeling. A strange, uneasy feeling in a way, but a feeling nonetheless. I had this feeling that some how, some way we were going to win this game. I tell the lads to go out there and take it to them from the off. Whilst I know we would look back with disappointment should we not see this through, I tell the lads the pressure is all on the opposition and to play our natural game.
Within the first 2 minutes we’ve already levelled the scores on aggregate. The ball came over the top and fell to left winger Portilla just outside the area and hit the ball, and my word it stayed hit! This is it, I can feel it, we’re going to win this game.
UD Legones equalised with a volley that was straight out of the top drawer. They crossed it in and it just fell kindly to their winger who buried it. 1-1. Straight from the kick off we went at them and lady luck was smiling down on us as we got another goal to put us 2-1 on the night, 2 all on aggregate.
The game finished 2-2 but thanks to the away goal rule, we won the tie! We have been promoted to La Liga 123!
Wow. Just wow. How on Earth have we done that! We got through on away goals but I don’t care about that, we just got promoted! The hard work clearly starts now as we’ve got an even bigger battle on our hands, but as this team were expected to be relegation fodder and we got promoted, should I be confident we can stay up next season? Only time will tell…
End of season stuff now and what a season!
Player of the year goes to the retiring Gerardo Berodia. Goal of the year is Portillas effort way back in January. Signing of the season goes to January signing Mikel and young player of the year goes to Munoz, who didn’t actually play that many games.
Dressing room atmosphere is good and finally, finally the players are on board with me as the manager.
The clubs rep has gone up a bit which is no surprise considering where we were expected to be and what we’ve achieved.
Part of this challenge is to become favoured personnel at 3 clubs, and I can knock 1 off that list thanks to Adarve liking me!
How many times can I say wow? Like seriously how many? How did we pull this off?!? This is a small club that shouldn't have won promotion, not this season. I'm so overjoyed it's unreal, the hard work is coming though as next season we're going to be looked at by every other team as 3 easy points. There's not much money here so the signings we target are going to have to be the right ones, no way we can have any passengers, next season is going to be a tough ask, but I love a challenge and that's exactly what next season is going to be!
Next update will be pre season stuff for our first season in the next division, the start of the new season and anything else of note.

UD Adarve 2018 - 19 play offs
I walk to the dugout in our home stadium, fans have packed every corner, my heart actually skips a beat. What on Earth are we doing here?!? How did we achieve this, the play offs?!? We should be battling relegation, not battling for promotion! My team has definitely upset the apple cart so to speak. Let’s upset the cart again! We take on Real Murcia who are in Group 4 of the Segunda league and they finished runners up. We’re going to have to be at our best to get anything from this game, I’m not going to get carried away, not yet anyway, but I’m quietly confident of getting something from this game.
The game comes and it’s by all accounts a pretty even game. We take an early lead from a corner and despite some dodgy defending we went on to hold the lead and win the game 1-0. We go into the second leg with a bit of confidence
The second leg is so much different from the first. They absolutely took it to us, and I mean took it to us. They were all over us from the first minute, but our counter attacking set up paid off, as did our set piece training as we got another goal from a corner yet again. The aggregate score of 2-0 flattered us really as Murcia were definitely the better team over the 2 legs.
We’re in the next round of the play offs and we’re drawn against Levante’s B team. We’re drawn as the home team again and we’ll set up to try and get them on the counter attack, it’s worked so far so fingers crossed it works again.
The game itself was pretty even. We did hit them on the counter in the 22nd minute and took the lead with a well placed shot. We added a second late on with an absolute worldie of a free kick, whilst Garcia got a red late on we held on to give us a good 2-0 going into the second leg.
The second leg was again an even game, and despite going behind early on we held on to the lead and against all odds have progressed to the third round of these play offs.
I’m not getting carried away, we’ve rode our luck so far and really we’re lucky to be where we are. The second leg loss to Levante should serve as a warning sign to us. We’ve got to step it up if we’re to progress. We’ve got UD Legrones at home next.
This is what I’m talking about when I say we need to step it up. We were the better team here all over the pitch, however we just didn’t take 1 of our many chances. They did and they’ve got a 1 goal lead going into the second leg.
The day before the second leg of the third round of the play offs, this is our most defining moment of the season. The winners of this round are promoted to the next division, the La Liga 123. I’m sat formulating a plan, do we go and try and get them on the counter? Do we take it to them? Do we go 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1? Whatever we decide on, whatever the outcome of this game we can be proud of where we've got to. This is a team that should have been propping up the league, yet here we are on the verge of promotion. We've just got the small matter of a 1-0 deficit to turn over.
Dare we dream, dare we think the impossible could happen? Could we do it?
