We'd get £25m+ for Ox mainly because most people still believe he's a good player with huge potential, baffling to me as he hasn't improved since he's come here.

The market for English players is absurd, just because Newcastle's scouting team is horrific it doesn't mean they should buy shite English players when there's better options abroad

Aside from the economics of the deal (which I don't think are that bad considering that all Premier League clubs are loaded these days) I don't really understand why Townsend's drawing so much abuse.

I mean @Based Jorge what are you trying to prove? No shit he's not as good as Hazard, if Newcastle could have bought a player that was as good as that they would have, but he's good enough to be playing in the Premier League, and better than what they've got already. If one of our clubs had bought him then by all means, but I think its a good move for both Newcastle and Townsend.

Proving the point that all he does for 90mins is shoot outside the box & not score and is the biggest waste of £14m I've possibly seen in a long time

He's worth about £5m max and that's including the trademarked English premium

Honestly - I've always liked Townsend. - but he really does seem to get a a hell of a stick from Spurs fans.

£12m for Shelvey is a lot better than £14m for Townsend regardless, you can guarantee the match commentary would be "long distance shot by Townsend, off target" non-stop for 90 mins

I'm sure trequartista is a wonderful Italian word that sums up the nuances of the role perfectly, but for an English speaking audience its essentially meaningless and used by the sort of people who have read Inverting the Pyramid and now think themselves qualified to manage a football team.

In fact, I blame Jonathan Wilson entirely for this. His use of foreign words such as these and Cantera do absolutely nothing to clarify what he actually means and its just an exercise in using untranslated foreign words in an effort to sound smart. Not to mention that he seemingly makes no distinction between these terms, its a trequarista when an Italian club uses one, an Engance if its Argentinian or an attacking midfielder if its an English one.

Ozil was quiet all game though, and as you said Flamini was getting raped. Arteta gave you another man back to weather the storm.

Campbell on the other hand was very impressive, if annoying that he just wouldn't go away

Can completely nullified him in the first half but him & Joel were the hub of everything good in the second. Ol' Joe Candle is becoming an undroppable player. Alexis might be back for Stoke and we can't afford to drop Joel at the minute. Arteta needs a hoverboard to go around the pitch so he didn't exactly contribute a lot.

I'm still not bothered about Leicester's results so far, give it a month and I probably will be if they can keep it up.

Why do you reckon Ozil? He was dead on his feet really, last 3 minutes. We were pressuring in the last 20, deserved a goal. I get Ozil would have kept the ball a bit more but it was hardly getting to him. Rain/sleet deffo didn't help anyone.

Got to hand it to Giroud, played fantastic.

We completely lose any sort of control of the match when he comes off. He's always an outlet and makes the right decision 99% of the time. We struggled massively against City once he came off but managed to hold on.

Not saying we would've controlled the match or anything as we were defending for our lives but if the ball comes to him instead of the combined footballing IQ of 5 in Ramsey & Ox we would've drawn more fouls and maybe had a couple of counters near the end as you put everyone forward. We were far too negative at the end and it cost us.

This was the perfect Hollywood Ramsey game. Good goal, lets Flamini get raped for the rest of the game as a result. We're lucky City dropped points otherwise I would actually be pissed off.

Taking Özil off once again costing us 3 points. Good game though, a draw probably a fair result but christ we let some absolute nobody's score against us so many times. Ramsey bar the goal was appalling & alongside Flamini it just ends up with the midfield being non-existent.

There was improvement in attack, intent and forward passing, but we were an absolute mess at the back. Throwing away a two goal lead against a side in the bottom three is dire. And we made Newcastle look good, when in actuality they are shit.

Great to see Van Gaal's passion on the bench (at last) but there was room for a baffling decision, taking Herrera off and keeping Fellaini on.

Six wins in our last 20 matches. Meh.
