The final FM21 patch/update has been released and the issue with the video adboard duration has not been amended, I am making the assumption that in future versions of FM video adboard’s will be capped to 15 seconds in length. This means that a significant number of video ads made for this patch will never work as intended within Football Manager, to say this is frustrating is an understatement. There is no simple fix to change the duration of these adboard’s and many will need to be remade from scratch.

 

Moving forward I will mainly be focusing on producing generic video ads for the most commonly played European Leagues, while dipping in and out of the request thread. I am hoping to bring out an update every six weeks for the foreseeable future, if all goes well the next update will be out during the last week of April. Below is my new WIP list.

Unfortunately, the second issue is caused by the stadium model and therefore there is no way of editing this.
 

I think you're forgetting that this site is a hobby and everything does it for fun in spare time. If they don't enjoy doing something then it doesn't get done. This version of the site took 2 years to release, not because it literally took 2 years working 40 hours a week 52 weeks a year, but because I regularly went an entire month without doing any work on it at all and would just do a couple of hours here and there in my spare time.

 

What you've suggested above would take me alot longer than 4 hours so not something I could smash out in an afternoon, so how many 4 hour afternoons would it take? Are you suggesting I should take a week or two off work or a even whole month? Or that I should simply give up every evening and weekend to build it? 

 

I agree the sort of installer you describe would be awesome but there are many things on the todo list i'd rather do before that as I think they're either more important or more interesting to me personally.

 

You're potentially forgetting that such an installer would only work for premium members because the files would have to come directly from our servers and couldn't be built to work alongside free mirrors, so this would be alot of effort to make something for a very small fraction of our users.

 

And even if we did we'd probably then get accused by someone with your attitude but a different opinion that we were prioritising premium users and trying to make money while ignoring the free users.

 

The people working on this site regularly feel like they can't do anything right because there's always someone who will criticise something, but truth be told they're all doing a fantastic job and there's a huge silent majority who love what they've done and are very grateful for it.

 

It's very easy to hear your criticisms, which weren't written very constructively, and feel like that they amount to simply “you've wasted hours of your time on this and it's crap and you should spend more hours of your free time making it better for me, but i'm not willing to help, you should do it”. No doubt you can see why people would react badly if that's how they're interpreting your comments.

 

In the same vein your comments on the design seem to amount to one of the following:

1. You're crap at UI and UX you should just naturally be better at it
2. You're crap at UI and UX you should spend hours and money learning how to be better
3. You're crap at UI and UX you should pay money for someone to do it for you
4. You're crap at UI and UX you should magically find someone who's really good at it to do it for free

Again, i've no doubt you can see that any of those comments sound unreasonable when written out like that. But that's basically what your comments amounted to.

 

You won't be surprised to know that nobody with any UI or UX experience has been involved in the design of the site and with that in mind i'm really happy and proud of it and it's one of the best things i've ever designed (you should see some of my past attempts!).

 

Unfortunately nobody with actual experience and expertise in that area has been keen to get involved.

We've had a few people have a go in the past but it usually involves a mock up of 2 or 3 of the “fun" pages then a quick loss of interest when you need to get into the more technical nitty gritty of the design.

As i'm sure you know a site of this size would take weeks of full time work. Translate that into the odd evening and weekend instead of full 40 hour weeks and that's months and years of work that most people aren't willing to do as a hobby.

 

If you can't see and understand that then I think it's going to be very difficult to communicate with you.

 

If you do really have the expertise you do i'd love to get some constructive feedback, it doesn't need to be full wireframes that have taken hours, even just links to examples or screenshots highlighting the major issues would be a huge help and probably take as much time as your rants took to write.

I stopped updating my old packs and now work solely on this pack.

Its a huge pack but covers all the bases….includes Stadium outside and inside views plus cities for Flut skin….as well as Person backgrounds and more.

I have an issue when I'm playing Man United at home in the champions league : the 3D kit are not available neither the 2D kit.

But what bothers me the most is that there no champions league ads just random ads for the premier league and at the level of the upper stands Man U ads.

I m use to change the xml no club ads for the champions league or  league cup.

Away there is no problem. I noticed also that with Lazio when I was playing in Rome during a champions league game.

Are you aware of that or maybe it's skin issue ?

Even if I bothered to make wireframes on how to improves the designs, from your response it sounds like it would fall on deaf ears. Want me to list out the duplicated menu options across the left nav bar, the top bar, the content feed on the right panel cluttered with listing wonderkids that I would NOT want to see? I got a downloads button on the left, downloads button on the top with a hover panel to go to FM Downloads Hub, the latest downloads, individual downloads and 30 other links. I have a Downloads section on the right, downloads links to forums, download links to downloads.

 

Because based on facts this new version of the site  is a HUGE improvement on all sorts of parameters. Perhaps you are just the kind of person who really don't like any sort of changes and would like things to stay just the way the are. So we really don't appreciate this kind of unspecific complaining, the new version is here to stay.

I'm a developer myself, and former web developer, so I know how defensive people can get when their layouts are critiqued but my opinion is it's a cluttered mess, and there is no such thing as facts in design but you probably wouldn't know that because you're the type of person who can't take criticism.

 

So get off your high horse. If you want to take sortitoutsi to the next level, then simply organize your downloads in a versioned repository, make an installer that the user then selects what they want, the current versions of each or a specific version, click a button and it downloads and installs it for them. This can be easily made in C++/python. If you don't have someone that knows C++/python then can use something like Electron which you can also make a windows/mac installer using javascript / node.

 

Or don't and continue trying to belittle someone who actually gave feedback in a feedback section of a forum and pretend like what you have is some sort of great polished accomplishment.

 

I literally came here just to buy FM21 and download a couple megapacks, but I guess I'll move to a different site for these things now if this is how this community has devolved.

I would disagree. Looks cluttered to me, links down the left, down the right, links to download sections, to forum threads. Not to mention this section on the right has a list of wonderkids that I would much prefer to NOT see, I like finding wonderkids myself.

I've been using sortitoutsi for so long and now for fm21 I return and everything is so difficult to find, cluttered everywhere.

 

I always thought one day the FM community would work together to create a megapack installer where you just choose which of what you want and it automatically downoads/installs them. Instead it's gotten worst and worst over the years to just a collection of random free download links full of ads and fake download buttons. Sortitoutsi was the one place I used to be able to just pay a sub and get all my downloads without messing with that.

How did you go with the tv logo ? did you sort it or did you download the new skin?

I've found the best way to stop kit anomalies is to delete any competition specific kits (FA Cup,Carabao Cup,Champions League etc) and just have the one with no competition attached. This will then show up in every game, regardless of any competition. It can be done via the editor but that does mean having to start a new game. The easiest way is to use the kit editor in the IGE and that works with your saved game file, so no loss of progress and career.   

So, this is ONLY an issue when playing League games.  All cup comps, etc are fine

 

I played Burton in the cup (kits were all fine) come into Prem match then last opp kits displayed again.  

 

Followed what you said about paths for folders, still this. 

 

No biggie and I can deal with it just strange is all bud :-)

 

Change to lower case “kits” and put in pictures, again lower case

My team always uses the last oppositions teams kit, hence my 2D and 3D kits sometimes do not display properly.  Not 100% sure why this is happening tbh just thought I would mention.

 

My last opponent was Burnley.

tommov2: thanks. Yes, you can do it. In this new version, go to match touchline tablet panel.xml and in lines 87 and 130 reduce the value 340.

 

 

McG84: for display the kits in player overview panel and also in the titlebar, you should use the pack of 2D kits for Flutskin (in the skin presentation I included the links for that)

 

 

Billy07: thanks! Regarding your question, as Evil already said, the answer is no. You just need the right packs, including the 2d kits for flutskin (you should download that pack following the links I put in the skin presentation; after download the pack you should place it in the logos folder of the game – not the skin). And…sorry but I don't know what is that image of arenas. In fact, when you don't have the image of the city or the stadium, an image saying “coming soon” is displayed (that images are in the skin folders). However, if you move your packs inside the skin folders, your packs (at least some of them) are read by the game before that folder with "coming soon" image (the game read the folders in alphabetical order). Thus, that image you like, is in one of your packs.

I only use 1920 x 1080 and i only added a line of code to the single file nothing else edited other than the sky sports logo but feel free to change the logo to what you want

For anyone wanting the tv logos i posted a small update that worked for me https://sortitoutsi.net/comments/get/621730 until the new update. my post was missed due to the post Flut did afterwards for anyone interested in the logos for now.

 

 

Place all your custom images in the non skin folders do not add them to the skin because when or if a new skin update is available it is advised to remove the previous version.
