Hong Da scores on his FA Cup debut, obviously.
The CFA can stop him winning us the league, but he'll just have to win us the cup instead!
#539027 [FM20] Earth Trip

Hong Da is for some reason still ineligible to play, but I've added three random academy products and two of them are allowed to play but the other isn't - despite no noticeable differences between these four players. None of our youth teams are playing, or anything like that. Probably some obscure reason somewhere.

Enjoyed pre-season, as we showed some promise.
We failed to win two matches, but they were both against Super League sides Beijing Renhe and Shandong Luneng Taishan; Shandong scored four of their goals in quick salvos, while we held Renhe to a goalless draw. We secured big scorelines over a few lower league outfits, before rounding off with a 3-1 win over city rivals Beijing IT.
You'll notice Hong Da scored six goals in two matches, which included a brace over top-flight Shandong. He's a 17-year-old I promoted from the academy due to the (ridiculous) amount of first-team injuries. However, sadly he wont be featuring in our upcoming league campaign due to a blunder on my part. I misread the squad registration rules, it turns out U23 players need to be registered. I thought that, due to the game showing an 'U23' icon in the registration, that meant the usual youth players don't need adding - turns out they do. My fault entirely, though would be nice if the game was clearer.
I made four signings in the market, spending actual money for practically the first time in the save.
Ma Yun (LW, Shanghai Shenxin) signed on a free transfer, while Liu Zhiyuan (FW), Tan Zhenyu (CM) and Gui Weiwei (CM) were all paid for. Zhiyuan joins from Shanxi Longjin, Zhenyu from Guangdong South China Tiger and Weiwei from Sichuan United.
We actually received more than we spent, as clubs gave us £205k across three players. Mexican defender Yair Montaño (£7.25k) headed to Zhejiang Yiteng before my arrival, though I did accept offers for Guo Shuo (£90k from Guizhou Hengfeng) and Yu Xiaoyu (£110k from Chongqing Dangdai Lifan) - those two are promising youngsters who forced moves.

I am officially the new manager of Beijing Sport University!
After failing in England and Europe I've moved to Asia. Beijing Sport University of the Chinese League One (tier two) are my new team. I don't expect anything major to begin with, but the plan is to build them into a team that can at some point challenge for promotion and perhaps even become a Super League outfit one day. That's the idea, whether we'll get anywhere near that is another question entirely.
Now, let me introduce club number nine of the save.
Current Team: Beijing Sport University (Chinese League One) | Honours With Them: 0
This Season's (2034) Expectation(s): Top half
Overall Team #: 9 | Career Honours: 0
Real Life
Beijing Sport University were founded in 2004, thirty years ago in-game. They play at the lovely 36,000+ Olympic Sports Centre in Beijing, China - a stadium that hosted football matches during the 2008 Summer Olympics. Previous homes include the Chaoyang Sports Centre and the Shijingshan Stadium. Their current name isn't the club's only name, as they've previously been known as Beijing Baxy and Beijing Enterprises Group.
Notable former players include ex-Everton forward Victor Anichebe and former Serbian international Danko Lazović, while this was the last club of the late Cheick Tioté; his #24 is retired, though not in-game but I'll be honouring it anyway. Wang Tao, a two-time Chinese international, helped create the club.
In terms of their on-field stuff, they haven't achieved any real success. They began, having only been a youth team prior, in the 2009 League Two where they finished 3rd, narrowly missing promotion. However, due to the demise of Beijing Hongdeng in the league above, Beijing SU took the aforementioned team's place in League One for the 2010 campaign. That's where they have stayed in real life, finishing no higher than 4th in any of the ten seasons since.
They have had no cup triumphs, as you'd expect, though did impressively reach the FA Cup semi-finals under Aleksandar Stanojević in 2015, where they'd get eliminated by top-flight side Shanghai Greenland Shenhua.
In-Game
Things began incredibly for Beijing SU in this save, as they gained promotion in 2019 to the Super League having finished 2nd. They were unsurprisingly relegated back down at the first attempt, though didn't finish bottom. That is as great as it has got for them, but they've consistently been a solid top half outfit in League One since 2020. Last season, in 2033, they placed straight bang in the middle in 9th.
Journey So Far!

I get my wish of heading to Asia next, as I join Chinese League One outfit Beijing Sport University.
Further information shortly, but they're a decent mid-table team with secure finances.
Transfer/wage budget looks tasty, though will need to research the financial league limits first as I think you can only spend, something like, as much as you receive in income behind the scenes; though that could just be for Super League sides.

Exactly that. I've had decent luck in Asia before, hopefully it'll be the same on FM20!

What that was fun, wasn't it?
I have no interest in returning to the National League, I saw all of which that division has to offer with Bradford City; who, by the way, went up as champions - obviously. Credit to you, monsieur Pogba.
I've added a few Asian leagues, which is my planned next step. However, I'll be holidaying until December 2033 to allow the leagues (differing schedules) to complete a full season each - to build some data and check for any bugs.
Onto the next job!

A tad repetitive, eh? We are, literally, averaging one win per month. Four months in charge, four wins. Delay relegation by another four months and we'll be safe!
I guess there is minor improvement, given all four losses in March were by just one goal on each occasion. The only win came away against Afreton Town, which we managed to follow up with a point at home to Boston United.
Despite a seemingly better month, we've dropped to 24th in League Two with four matches to play. Stockport County continue to be god-like, with just five defeats in the four months since I took over - quite the coincidence, but fair play to them.
I'll be truly flabbergasted if we were to survive.

More of the same. Terrible month, though we manage to end with a victory.
Cheltenham Town, Leyton Orient and Swindon Town all eased past us. We then lost by three goals to Bristol Rovers, though a change of tactic saw us play better; conceding two of the goals in the final 10mins due to a change to attacking. As previously shared, we managed to secure a lucky win over Gillingham last time out.
We are 23rd, 2pts off Yeovil Town and 1pt ahead of Stockport County with ten fixtures left to play.
I mentioned in the January update that I wanted to sign a few more players, which is exactly what I did.
Young goalkeeper Stavros Meletidis arrived on loan from Blackburn Rovers, while forward Kyle Davidson penned temporary terms from divisional rivals Swindon Town.
Lastly, remember Paul Pogba and his unusual start to management? Well, things have gone a step deeper into the weirder realms as he's incredibly replaced me at Bradford City! He's got them sitting 4th, 5pts off top with eleven to play.

Time for a new profession, perhaps?
Also, big fan of Stockport County suddenly becoming a football team from when I was appointed. Just 2 defeats in 11 for them, as opposed to just 3 wins in the preceding 23 - my impact is unmatchable.

Not the best impact, that.
It hasn't been easy, not helped by the squad being in horrific form individually when I joined. I actually managed an impressive debut win over play-off chasing Tranmere Rovers, but that was only followed by six matches without a victory. Dulwich Hamlet and Chesterfield should be beating us and did, though we simply had to gain something over Yeovil Town, Rochdale and York City but didn't - though, funnily enough, we did hold league leaders Notts County to a 0-0 draw away from home. January at least ended on a high, as we beat bottom of the league Stockport County narrowly.
We remain 23rd, though are now 4pts from safety. Still fifteen matches to play.
I made some much need acquisitions in January.
Five players arrived, though one (Don Alcock [CM]) was signed by our youth staff. Philip Brizell [RW], a well-known face from my time at Bradford City, came on loan from Charlton Athletic - he, rather humorously, got sent off on debut versus Yeovil. Archie Hughes [FW] joined on a free, as did Ecuadorian left-sided international Pervis Estupiñán. Michael Swift was the final face in, as the attacking midfielder penned a loan deal from Swansea City. I plan on making one or two more signings pre-February 2nd's deadline.
