A poor month, with just one win in five matches.
June began with a hammering to current league leaders Qingdao Huanghai, before we secured a three-goal victory over positional rivals Nantong Zhiyun. Qingdao Jonoon then beat us 0-2, before we ended the month with disappointing draws with Yinchuan Helanshan and Changchun Yatai. From May, we've remained 5th but the gap between us and promotion has stretched from 3pts to 7pts with 17 matches left.

That's more like it!
We dried up our bad habit of drawing matches and have also avoided losing, as we went through May 2035 with a 100% record across four league fixtures. Baoding Rongda, Zhejiang Yiteng, Hunan Billows and Shanghai Shenxin were all dispatched, with us scoring nine goals and conceding just two.
We've, thanks to that form, moved from 8th to 5th. The gap to 2nd has been shortened to 3pts, while 1st is back in the sights as Tianjin Tianhai have blown their 10pt lead on us to be only 4pts ahead. You'd expect Tianhai to regain form and us to lose our form in the coming month(s), but it's at least nice to show what we can be capable of.
For May, I also won Manager of the Month which was lovely. That's my first award in this save since 2029 with Bradford City - six year wait over.

Simply put: Too many draws.
We've lost just one league fixture, versus leaders Tianjin Tianhai, from eight matches which is very pleasing. Unfortunately, we've won just twice against Liaoning and Shaanxi Chang'an Athletic. We've experienced five draws, which has been incredibly frustrating - the ones with goals have literally been goal highlights and that's it, admittedly I play on "key" highlights but you'd still expect action.
I strengthened the defence in the off-season, seemingly well given we've conceded just five [third best in division], but perhaps I needed to add more goals; despite having four strikers I define as good enough... I'll revisit when the mid-season window opens. Elsewhere, our reserve line-up were eliminated from the FA Cup by Chang'an, who blitzed us in extra time by notching three further goals for a 2-5 win; we had advanced from the previous round by virtue of defeating lower league outfit Xinjiang Tianshan Leopard.
That form leaves us 8th, six points adrift of second place Qingdao Huanghai and ten points off Tianhai.

A very impressive pre-season.
Goals galore alongside six wins from six. Four did come against weak local opponents, but we also stunningly beat K League 1 giants Seoul 4-1 on home soil and, recently relegated from the Super League, Tianjin TEDA 3-0.
So, it looks like we are fit and firing ahead of the league opener with Lhasa Urban Construction Investment...

I, of course, made some new signings in the off-season as six players arrived, with nine departing.
Yair Montaño (CB, MEX, Zhejiang Yiteng), Wang Yingming (LB, CHN, Guangdong South China Tiger), Xu Peng (CM, CHN, Changchun Yatai), Li Xiang (RB, CHN, Guizhou Hengfeng), Zhang Xiushuo (GK, CHN, Shanghai Shenxin) and Zhang Min (RM, CHN, -) are those who have joined, as we spent £73k.
We received £325k for outgoing players - money really does fly about in China. Huang Jingtao headed to Tianjin Tianhai for £130k, way over-paying for the youngster who was valued under £20k. Wang Jing went to Kunshan, as did Zheng Long for a total of £132k. Yang Chenyu joined South China Tiger for £15k, while left winger Francis Asante left for Qingdao Jonoon for £40k. Four players were also released, the most notable being Thomas Aldersdörfer (CM, GER) and Jorge Luiz (LB, BRA) - two foreign players who don't fit due to the strict registration rules, same situation as Asante.

No promotion... I know, hold back your shock!
It wasn't likely nor expected, though I had hoped we'd finish a bit better than we did as we experienced five winless fixtures. In fairness, as mentioned earlier, we did play three of the top four in the run-in so I can't say I'm shocked. That dumb draw with Sichuan United was certainly a sign of things to come.
Shijiazhuang Ever Bright are promoted as deserved champions, with Guizhou Hengfeng taking the second place in the Super League. We finish a merited 6th, though only just ahead of Liaoning in the end. Jiangsu Yancheng Dingli and Sichuan are relegated, but Hunan Billows survive via the relegation play-offs. Tianjin TEDA and Changchun Yatai are coming down from the top-flight.

Our pleasing form continues.
Baoding Rongda, Jiangsu Yancheng Dingli and Liaoning were all defeated, though we did suffer a loss to positional rivals Tianjin Tianhai; though have since gone above them in the table. The other fixture of September ended drawn 1-1 with Shanghai Shenxin. We sit 5th with five matches left, a sizeable eight points off promotion. I don't think this is our year, but we do play three of the four clubs above us in the run-in so I guess you never know.
I'm happy with our season as long as we secure a deserved top six finish - which we should given we're 11pts inside at the moment.

A great August, not that you'd realise given we've only gained one place and one point on 2nd. Just unlucky that our rivals are also in good form...
We secured wins over Guangdong South China Tiger, Nantong Zhiyun and Hunan Billows - all lower down the table opponents. The month concluded with a crunch meeting with fellow promotion-chasing Qingdao Huanghai, which ended 2-2; we done well as we were actually two goals down. As September looms we sit 6th, five points behind Guizhou Hengfeng in 2nd. Shijiazhuang Ever Bright, despite a few blips recently, are back on track to take the title.

An average month.
Just the one defeat, vs. Henan Jianye, but we've also only won just one fixture - vs. Qingdao Jonoon. Our other two matches ended in draws against Lhasa Urban Construction Investment and Zhejiang Yiteng. Our form is iffy. We've won only once in six, though have had just three defeats in twelve. We go into August sitting 7th, six points off the secondary promotion spot. Fourteen matches to play!
The transfer window saw two fresh faces in.
Xie Huajiang (32yo, CM) arrived to add experience from Hunan Billows for £10k, while Guo Shuo (17yo, LB) returns to the club on loan from Guizhou Hengfeng; five months after they paid £90k to sign him. We also made some money in terms of departures. Flaubert Abimola (23yo, RB), a Benin international, was unregistered all season and finally left, joining third tier outfit Hebei Elite for £59k. Yue Xiangyu (31yo, CM), meanwhile, headed to lower league Xinjiang Tianshan Leopard for £27.5k.

Same as last month. W2 D1 L1, dropped one place.
We can find ourselves extremely hard done by to lose a place, as June actually went very well. We beat Sichuan United and Hunan Billows, before taking a point off of league leaders Shijiazhuang Ever Bright away from home. However, we did taste defeat versus Qingdao Huanghai which was critical as they are obviously the team that has forced us down to 5th - rotten luck!
July sees us play (based on the current table) 16th, 7th, 6th and 15th. A big month!
The transfer market also reopens, as does the registration window. I've now registered the previously mentioned Hong Da, let's hope he can have an impact as he did in the FA Cup earlier in the campaign.

Our form, after April's dodgy conclusion, didn't completely disintegrate like I thought it would. So that's positive.
We won 2, drew 1 and lost 1 - though both wins were against poor sides and just narrowly by a single goal. May ended in an annoying yet entirely predictable defeat to Nantong Zhiyun - a team that, hilariously, had lost 5-0 and 8-1 (!) in two of their previous three fixtures, but coincidentally found their form against us. We did get a red card very early on, and boy did they punish us with three first half goals... two of which were literally Paul Scholes vs. Barcelona-esque. If I had just 1p for every time the division's excrement team has defeated me, I'd beat Jeff Bezos to becoming a trillionaire!
We've dropped to 4th, with the gap to 2nd (and 1st) now 6pts. We're going nicely, tbh.

An excellent start, far better than what was expected of us as a mid-table team.
Things have headed south slightly towards the end of April, but we started that and the preceding month brilliantly. We won our first four competitive fixtures over Guangdong South China Tiger, Zhejiang Yiteng, Zhaoqing Hengtai (FA Cup - my 500th game in management) and Liaoning; the latter is a team who I actually once manged back on FM17. Those victories were followed with draws against Guizhou Hengfeng and Meizhou Hakka, both disappointing but at least we fought for a point on each occasion.
Next time out saw us progress to the board's expectation of round four in the FA Cup, as we beat Yiteng for the second time this campaign; despite fielding an entire outfield reserve line-up, an XI we again played in R4 as we were eliminated by top tier Shanghai Greenland Shenhua. Sandwiched between those cup ties was a 1-0 win over Shanghai Shenxin and a poor 1-1 tie with strugglers Baoding Rongda. April concluded with a loss to early promotion rivals Tianjin Tianhai. I'm very pleased with that overall form, especially as we scored in all but one of the eleven matches.
Heading into May, we sit 4th - 7pts off the runaway leaders Shijiazhuang Ever Bright. We've begun very nicely, I just hope our form doesn't drastically drop due to that loss to Tianhai. The game has a habit, at least in this save, to allow every opponent to figure out your tactics at exactly the same time - hopefully I'm wrong here!
