The media just produce more and more bullshit every day. Do they seriously think that Lallana would choose Spurs instead of Liverpool? I'd love it to happen, but there is 0% chance of it.

What you mean is you want Tottenham to finish 6th/7th but take FA Cup and the League Cup more seriously and any higher placed finish in the league is a welcome bonus.

I agree though.

Pretty much. I'm not saying we should be happy with finishing 5th-7th every year, because every team should be looking to improve. But at the moment its difficult to see how we'd get top 4 consistently, especially next season. City & Chelsea will be up there, you'd imagine Liverpool will be competing again, Arsenal are always around 4th and Man Utd will most likely challenge for 4th with Van Gaal in charge. To me, it seemed obvious that we should try and get someone like Rafa Benitez who is a proven winner and could potentially get us a cup win of some kind. Don't forget that the Europa League now gives a CL place to the winner, so winning that could give us glory and a chance to improve and attract better players.

For me this is the last chance for Levy to get it right. He must give Pochettino time and back him 100%. If he sacks him for failing to get 4th next season, then I think its time for Levy to go.

I'm not a fan of Pochettino so this move hasn't exactly made me happy. He is just another 'yes man' that will get sacked sometime over the next 18-24 months. I will give him my full 100% support though, as he is now the manager of the team I support.

I'm getting tired of Levy constantly demanding a top 4 finish, when in reality we've got the 6th/7th best squad in the league. Yes, another run in the CL would be nice, but I want to see us actually win something and we aren't going to win the CL, probably not even in my lifetime and im in my 20's. Im not saying I never want to get top 4, because I do. But right now we simply can't compete with the very top teams over the course of a full season, so we should be aiming for something like an FA Cup win or even a Europa League final.

Yeah it probably is. Chance to win a trophy or few as easily as they come and rebuild his reputation. If he gets the Tottenham job it could probably end him.

Apparently Spurs are ignoring all the unemployed managers. Thank God. I just hope that doesn't mean we get Pochettino.

After Suarez won player of the year Toure came out moaning that he doesn't get enough recognition, so I thought he'd try and get himself that recogniton he craves by getting an even bigger contract though some kind of stunt. Turns out it wasn't a stunt, apparently.

Had the radio on most of the day so i've heard lots about the Toure story, but am I completely missing something or is Toure actually wanting to leave because he didn't get a cake and a hand shake?

Plus I would rather a advert then listen to Adrian Chiles

Agreed, they can fill the 15 minutes between end of the first and start of the second half with adverts if they want. Just not in the game please!

Meh, its bearable.

You get this with cricket all the time short minute breaks it is nowhere near as infuriating as you are trying to make out.

It would be very annoying. Remember when ITV decided to go to an ad break in the Everton - Liverpool game a few years ago and we missed the only goal of the game? I don't want that to be happening at the World Cup, just imagine England winning 1-0 and we missed the goal because ITV decided to show us the go compare man and some gambling adverts instead.

I'd like to know how he thought Everton would end up 16th.

That payments to clubs chart is so depressing when you see that clubs like Norwich and Cardiff got over £60m for being totally shit and providing almost no entertainment.

Why would they take Di Santo when they have Agüero, Messi, Higuaín, Lavezzi & Palacio? Also no Tevez and Pastore? At this rate we could build a squad capable of winning the world cup just from players that aren't going!

Well, Sherwood's officially gone now. So I guess that means we'll go for another foreign coach who'll probably get sacked in about 12-18 months, because Levy doesn't understand that managers need time.

I now like Lewis Holtby even more. This was from Ledley King's testimonial last night, glad someone captured it! Was good to see the officials pissing about though, one of them actually took a corner.

I like Milner there. He's looking at Richard Wright and thinking "What the fuck are you doing here?"

This arrangement as well where "a new strategic loan partnership system that would allow clubs to loan up to eight players to a single Football League side and retain more control over them" is also bizarre, as it means Premier League teams can have B and essentially a C team.

About 6 or 7 players went from Spurs to Swindon this season, half of them on loan. The others i'd imagine have some sort of buy back clause. There is the proof that these "new strategic loan partnerships" aren't new at all. The FA showing once again that they know sweet FA.

There's such an arrogance to this notion that football-deprived fans of the likes of Barnet and Torquay would eagerly circle the date on their calendars where they get to face off against the Aston Villa reserves, as if the Premier League is somehow doing them a favour by gracing their league with some sort of presence. This whole proposal is rotten to the core, and the fact that the FA - guardians of the national game, supposedly - are going to try and convince the Premier League clubs to bribe the lower league teams is disgusting. They know that they need the money and are effectively exploiting them.

If they want to make a difference to the national side this is such a bad way to do it.

Agreed. The whole bribery thing is a joke and is just another example of the FA showing a lack of respect to lower league teams. It sums up the way football in this country has gone, just throw money at everything and hope it works.

Dyke mentions that their research goes back 20 years to 1994 when there was 69% English starters in the Premier League. He seems to think that just by having more players, that the England team will get better. Well, if he'd researched properly, he'd notice that 20 years ago England failed to qualify for the 1994 World Cup. Surely its not about having more players, but having better players and better coaches?

I still feel that this would help the bigger teams a bit, but only the bigger teams, which is wrong. There are ways of improving the English game and this certainly isn't it.

Already signed it

As these B teams can't get higher than League 1, what would happen if the top 6 teams in League 1 were all B teams? Would there be no promotions, or would the teams that finished 7th and 8th be automatically promoted with 9th-12th in play offs? Both of those scenarios are ridiculous and are one of the many reasons I am against this load of shit.

Apparently City have used 21 players in each of their last two Champions League campaigns. So that 21 man squad limit wont be doing too much damage then.

So on the 125th year anniversary of the football league, they come up with the idea to destroy it. This is basically a big "fuck off" to all lower league teams.
Their best young players will join PL teams for a tiny fee and then drop to the PL B teams. These B teams would then probably beat all the lower league teams, as they have the best players. The lower league teams will then be forever stuck in League 2 as they can't keep their best players, don't get enough money from player sales to rebuild their squads, don't get decent loan players from bigger teams and they will effectively be having to play against the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City and so on, every week. Whats to say the B teams wont become full of foreigners like the first teams anyway?

Also, don't start banging on about how they do it in Spain or Germany or whatever, because the English Football League has history and tradition, unlike the foreign lower leagues. To be honest I don't see anything wrong with the current reserve league system, the FA should leave them as they are.

Anyway, in other news: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27289819

Something about this really does not work as an idea, be it the lazy copying of Spanish ideas to try and emulate them, making fixture arranging unnecessarily complicated and the fact it compromises the Football League as an entity. But also, why not just either make teams include younger talents in a first team squad, or tell them to reduce this unnecessary "buy everyone else's players then send 25 on loan" that they all fucking do?

This is a such a shit idea. Whats wrong with reserve leagues or the loan system? Nothing. The FA are just sucking up to the big clubs as usual.

So Man City are facing a £50m fine, restrictions on their Champions League squad size and a wage limit. I know £50m is a lot of money, but is it really going to hurt a club thats run by a billionaire?

Fwiw - the Barcelona 'tiki-taka crap' absolutely took apart Real Madrid a few weeks ago in the league.

Yeah, only once Madrid went down to 10 men. But when it mattered most, in the cup final, Madrid won.

Not Brazil then?

Maybe because the 'tiki taka crap' has seen Spain and Barça win 2 European Championships, a World Cup, 2 Champion's Leagues and a handful of other trophies?

Well done for stating the obvious.

I thought it was clear that teams are finding ways to beat tiki taka, and beating them well. Bayern last season and Brazil at the Confederations Cup last summer are great examples. I think Guardiola is making a mistake by thinking that he can just use the same system all the time and carry on winning. I'm not saying he should use the exact system that Bayern used last season, but use it as a starting point and just tinker with it a bit. I guess next season will be better for them though as they'll be more familiar with the system and have Lewendowski up front.

The final will be interesting either way I recon. Obviously a Madrid final would be huge, but a Chelsea v Madrid one would be interesting purely down to Carlo being ex-Chelsea and Mourinho ex-Madrid, and Mourinho having just left. Am getting a little nervous already for our game.

Or it could be Ronaldo vs Mourinho in the season that we lost the great Eusebio.

I don't get why Guardiola had to try and change the style of play for Bayern. Their style of play last season was good enough to thump the Barcelona tiki taka crap 7-0, but he still thinks the tiki taka is better. Makes no sense.
