Will be long until they succeed in the Champions League then.

True, but that's the least of Inter's worries right now I think!

Really good game between Scotland and Ireland so far, really fast pace, tackles flying in, excellent atmosphere. In other words the polar opposite of what England will be like tomorrow.

About time Mazzarri was sacked. Mancini should do alright. Very different squad to what he had last time at Inter though.

That's how easy it is now we have goal line technology. I don't think that goal would have been given without it, so difficult to tell in real time.

Gerrard, Sterling, Henderson etc back in for Liverpool, although Kolo Toure is on the bench which I'm surprised at after his midweek performance. Thought Lallana did well against Madrid too but Coutinho replaces him.

I was probably around 8 or 9 when a mate lent me his CM 97/98. Had a do on that for a bit then moved on to the excellent CM 00/01 and 01/02, have many quality memories of those games, and have bought every CM/FM since then. So around 12 or 13 years now!

Disappointing draw against away at Millwall we were 1-0 up when they had a man sent off. Gestede made it 2-0 but we then let the lead slip to draw 2-2 against men. Still unbeaten in 6 and we were going well but those dropped points could end up being important..

Couldn't believe it! Was tearing my hair out when their second went in. Not sure what must have gone wrong, hopefully it doesn't affect us and we can go down to Brighton and win.

Also did you see that we've only lost 4 games out of the last 29? Great statistic really, we're definitely doing something right! Just need to keep it up...

Good point made by Scholes a few mins ago, that Gerrard retired from international football to be able to play in games like this before the end of his career.

Supported Rodgers in the Premiership thread but don't understand this at all.

If Liverpool get hammered tonight and then lose at home to Chelsea on Saturday then he's going to come in for a lot of criticism, and it'd be deserved criticism.

A club the size of Liverpool should never be admitting defeat before kick off in any CL match, whether it's against Real Madrid or not. Obviously Madrid are a lot better but Rodgers is supposed to be an up and coming young manager, try and create a plan to get a result! The players on the bench will be less than impressed as well - Sterling would have loved the chance to play at the Bernabeu, Gerrard might never play in such a match again, etc.

Dangerous move.

A very mediocre manager.

Hmmm, have to disagree Sam.... He's got a struggle on his hands this season but came within a whisker of winning the league last season and gave Liverpool their most exciting league campaign (playing excellent football) for god knows how long.

Let's see how he copes with this tough period (looking at their next two games things might be about to get worse before they get better), but I think he's a good manager, although his summer signings can definitely be questioned.....

Great win again for us yesterday 3 wins in a row now! Ben Marshall was again brilliant setting up 2 and scoring with a fantastic free kick! First half we didn't play well and we were lucky to be level but they only scored right at the end of the half. But second half we deserved the win and we are now just a place outside the play offs

Yep excellent result yesterday, Marshall surely has to be the most in-form player in the league. And what a bullet from Gestede for his first goal, nobody was getting in the way of that one Rhodes' header was also good that hit the post but at least Rudy was there to fire it home.

It's a bit annoying that despite 10 points out the last 12 we're still not in the top 6! But keep this form up and we'll be at least in the play off spots soon, we should be aiming even higher though IMO cos there's not exactly any decent teams in the league - Watford were nothing special when they came to Ewood and yet they're sitting pretty at the top.

Caught the first half of Newcastle-Liverpool and Liverpool looked completely devoid of ideas, and with Madrid away in the week and then Chelsea (who won't be tested at all during the week) at home on Saturday, things might not be getting much better any time soon.

Elsewhere, another excellent win for Southampton and with Leicester at home next week their unbelievable run will probably keep on going. I know it's still very unlikely, but if they could finish in the top 4, that'd be excellent rather than, say, United spending £150m just to get the same result.

Speaking of Leicester I think their start to the season is probably the best example of a 'honeymoon' period in recent years. They need to stop the rot quickly or they'll be nailed on for relegation. Although not as nailed on as the still winless Burnley Watch out Derby, your record is under threat!

Why did Villa give Lambert that new deal after only a couple of good results earlier in the season? This was always gonna happen afterwards.

Great win today absolutely delighted! First half we were poor and we deserved to be 1-0 down. A quality second half performance though mainly when Gestede came off the bench! Baptiste did well to smash in the loose ball to make it 1-1 and then Gestede made it 2-1 with a great header after a run and cross by Williamson and Rhodes scored with a good finish across the keeper with his left foot! Great passion by the players after the goals and at the end and by Bowyer!

Excellent result, really unexpected! Let's hope we can push on now v Reading at home and get ourselves in that top 6 at long last haha. Great to see both Gestede and Rhodes on the score sheet.

Can't believe Birmingham....that is just ridiculous. Well, and Leeds - but I can believe that with that nutcase in charge.

Good win over Birmingham last night. The first half was awful both teams missed good chances but not alot else happened. Second half was alot better Marshall scored a very good goal and tormented Eardley until he was rightly sent off. Marshall was brilliant for the rest of the half but we couldn't secure the win and we missed so many chances mainly from Cairney, Varney and Marshall. But we held out only just though as in the 93rd minute they hit the underside of the bar which was very close to going in! Rhodes and Gestede were also both substituted last night and neither looked about it but they didn't do too much so I feel it was the right decision. Rhodes did do well to set up the goal though and also set up a great chance for Evans.

Which stand do you sit in at Ewood mate??

Balotelli swapping shirts at half time with Pepe is pathetic. He's losing 3-0 and all he wants to do is swap shirts with the guy thats keeping him in his pocket.

It was bad yeah.

He should realise that whilst his form is poor and people are having doubts about him, stupid stuff like that is the last thing he should be doing.

I think it'll be close. I'd still back Madrid to win, maybe 2-1, but wouldn't be surprised either if it ended a draw.

(Mind you, I gave Roma a chance last night )

Crazy end at the QPR game, comically bad defending all round - Liverpool may have won but they can't really take many positives from today and Balotelli was unbelievably bad, gave it away all the time, constantly chose the wrong option and also missed the open goal.

Southampton excellent effort.

Arsenal are looking poor, 4th at best again.....Burnley's result is hilarious too, they've been on about this 'run of home games' they've got for a while now - well here it is! Well in Big Sam.

Great results for Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland - fair to say I'm far more interested in their groups (especially Group D with Ireland, Scotland, Germany and Poland as Number 1 says) than England's.

Forgot about Wales too last night, good result but tough game away to Belgium next.
