I like Barcelona, love the way they play and some of their players, but they can't keep running to UEFA whenever they don't get the result they want. It seems to be either the pitch or the referee.

There goes any tiny chance that Inter had left of getting in the CL. Unless John Carew is still available........

Chelsea won 3-1, so they should go through. Likewise Fenerbahce, Lazio will struggle without an away goal

Not sure about Spurs, could go either way. Haven't seen Basel since last season (although they're obviously pretty good) and if Bale's injured that could be significant.

Newcastle are up against it, at 3-1. Not sure why the ref made Cardozo take his penalty again, only looked like Newcastle players encroaching.

If Kean had stayed d'you reckon you'd have gone up? Obviously you were high up the league when he walked so interesting to see how you feel he'd have done despite your obvious dislike (hatred?) of him? Wonder what a bit of stability could have done.

Not a chance. You always get a load of random teams near the top early on in every season. I remember Hull, who'll probs go up automatically now, came here second game of the season and saw people like Murphy's name on the team sheet and were desperate for a 0-0, little did they know our squad looks ten times better on paper than it actually is. 2 of his Kean's last four games were defeats to MK Dons and Middlesborough too.

Clueless Kean had to go for Rovers to move forward, but there hasn't been any stability here since the moment that lot walked through the door.

Grzegorz Sandomierski? I heard he ain't that bad. Big money move from Bialystok to Genk a few saisons ago, three caps for Poland. Not too bad if you ask me

Hope you're right.

Has anyone (aside from Rhodes?) came out of the season with any credit?

Where do you reckon Blackburn would have finished with the same squad and a competent manager (Appleton?) in charge all season?

Rhodes, Jake Kean, Hanley, Henley and maybe Dunn who's always given 110% even though he hasn't played much.

Hard to say, especially if it was Appleton. He started well but it was pretty bad towards the end, I'd have give him longer but not sure how it would have panned out over a full season. Nothing good can happen when you have 5 managers in a season though. Our best chance of having a decent season was to get someone like McCarthy or Holloway when Kean left, but nobody like that would touch us now.

Advantage Malaga??

Malaga have shown that they're more than able to compete at this level but you'd still have to fancy Dortmund to beat them at home I think.

If Malaga had nicked it 1-0 tonight, then they'd have had a good chance.

We'll see anyway, an early Malaga goal would make it interesting.

Blackburn keeper Paul Robinson out for 6 months with a blood clot on his lung. That sounds incredibly nasty.

It does indeed. Wish him well, also hope it doesn't scupper his chances of getting out of here in the summer.

Jake K**n (current number 1, pretty good) is out for the rest of the season too, so we've got a random Pole in net for the relegation run in

I still can't decide! Wish one of the games from tonight would swap with one from tomorrow night, then there'd be no tough decision to make.

We're going down. No fight, no passion, no manager, disgraceful owners, everything's rotten from top to bottom, and everybody else around us keeps winning.

Put a lot of money on our relegation.

Yeah it was a nice finish by Boyd.

We're two points off the drop now, in the worst form in the league, and most the other teams down the bottom are in a good run of form. Happy days......

If Sunderland had been thinking of sacking O'Neill then they'd have been better doing it 2 weeks ago after limping to a dire draw against 10 man Norwich. That would have given the new guy at least a solid week or so, depending on when they appointed him, before today.

Waiting until the inevitable defeat to United before getting rid of him was a bit odd.

Good result for West Ham, Big Sam specialises in games like today. Carroll's second was very nicely took.

Nasty one that.

Diabolical result for Roma today (and team selection). Better not make the same mistake for the derby next week.

Sunderland look pretty devoid of ideas - their best hope is to probably keep it at 1-0 and nick a goal off a set-piece.

As soon as United get their second, it's game over.

11 Premier League titles, 2 SPL titles, a Bundesliga title, 6 FA Cups, 4 European Cups and a JPT final appearance where I got tonked 4-1 by Nottingham Forest. And I have a few days to spare, not starting my new job for 11 days, so more than enough time to do the Blackburn job.

To be fair, these achievements on FM mean you're better qualified for the job than our last three permanent managers. Are you bald by any chance? (Highly important)

Their next three games are United at home, Chelsea away and Newcastle away - lose those three, which is very possible, and they'll be in big trouble.

Didn't hear any of the commentary or coverage today but some comments from the game at Wembley stick in my mind - slating San Marino for 'showing a lack of ambition' was the main one, Jesus wept. Get a grip.

Looking forward to the Montenegro game though on Tuesday, should be a decent.
