Finally finished Trainspotting this morning. I don't think a book has ever managed to gross me out the way it did in some chapters, fucking brilliant anyway.

Should read American Psycho. .

I think Bristol City are done for to be honest. Might have to go down in order to come back with a vengeance (which we also won't do).

Gah.

If we were kids I'd get it. There's a beauty to teenagers sharing their favourite women, it's quite innocent.

There's something fundamentally jarring about a group of adult males wanting to show each other pictures of nude women. Look at this girl with her tiny bum hole. Look at her tits. Do you like these tits? I like these tits. Here, show me some of the tits you like. Let's mutually bond over how we'd like to chuck our muck all over these glorious tits.

If the thread was called "Photos of women I like to wank over" then I'd be more welcoming to it. There's something much dirtier about having it called "The Ultimate Babe Thread".

Does what I want it to do for 280 squid. Better than the Samsung for the same price.

I fully understand where does "Keep calm and carry on" come from.
And don't tell me British don't use "Keep calm and blah blah anything".

Moronic elements in British society still continue to squeeze allegorical blood out of this tired and strained stone of a cliche.

I don't care if you know where it came from, it's boring, kitsch and pathetic.

You clearly haven't been on a rush hour trains to London then.
It's basically the company that most businesses use to provide laptops. I learnt to loathe the sight of them.

Nah, I spend most of my time at Bristol Uni, most of the people have Apple products paid for by Mum-ah and Pap-ah.

Have a look to see if you can get a Lenovo ThinkPad. They're the absolute best when it comes to work. Great keyboards and matte finish. The higher end ones can get pricey, but you can get some cheap ones.

http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/gbweb/LenovoPortal/en_GB/catalog.workflow:item.detail?GroupID=240&Code=X131eAMDGOOD&category-id=6B63F6E9BB62AED9EA01FED70D085142#.UJagxcV0kko

If you're looking for a strictly work based laptop then a ThinkPad is the way to go. You can find all kinds of other ones like HP Pavillion etc which are similar, but Lenovo are the best for work.

Hadn't heard of them but apparently, after a quick google, it seems that they bought out the PC section of IBM. Having a look at a few models atm.

Suuuup, thought I would ask you lot a question about technolology. Can you lot suggest a solution for me?

I wanted a laptop/netbook similar to this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007VBBYOM/

But I waited until pay-day and it's out of stock (it was 279.99) now and, really, I need a laptop fairly soon.

I need it to have roughly a 10-12" screen, (just because I carry it to uni and it's a fair old poke uphill). Will consider larger screens.
2gGB+ Ram (pref 4GB).
Decent processor.

I will only really use it to browse the internet, write notes on Microsoft Word. But if the specs allow I may even want to play FM on it whatever.

Budget is about 320 max.

I did think about a Chromebook but not sure if Google docs or if any chrome apps will really able to substitute for Word, (in terms of footnotes etc etc).

Cheers.

It is an extra hour if you run on a strict time to start something....

I went to bed at about midnight and was up at 5.45 for work (fuck sake). But that was 6.45 hours sleep. Thus the time adjustment meant I could sleep for an extra hour.....

A Guy in work that had done the night shift, because it was set hours through the night, he got paid 9 hours for a 10 hour shift. But if he does the same shift when the clocks change again (in March?) then he'll get paid 9 hours for doing 8 hours. So some companies don't adjust it.

I got all of them except Kosovo because it still isn't a country.

Yeah it is. I've been there, and worked there.

Ok, 94 of 193 member states of the UN agree that it is independent.

If we look at the below map. It hardly makes a blind bit of notice what a lot of them would say. Beyond that it is largely a W. Europe vs E. Europe dichotomy. (Green are states that recognise it and grey are ones that currently do not, I'd suggest in 10 years we could colour many more of them green)

Justicar's right though, these books are tough at the beginning then you get used to the words and phrases. I remember having the same problem with Clockwork Orange.

I don't have to worry about my research project for a little while as it doesn't start until like March/April time. Although I will have to write a research proposal before then, but we haven't even been given the list of topics yet.

Other than that I'm getting back into the hang of things now. Reading academic papers again was a bit of a hurdle, I much prefer Batman comics.

MSc?

I'm doing an MPhil, so it's not taught. I had to apply with a research proposal :/.
