I have decided to take the Port Talbot offer as Wales is the shortest part of the challenge.
I inherit the side in 10th place, some way off the leaders but I am confident that we will survive.
We are still in the Welsh Cup, but have been knocked out of the Loosemores Cup.

Thanks Dan

Port Talbot vs Bala
My first game in charge saw me travel to fellow strugglers Bala. An early and late goals helped us on the way to a comfortable win
Neath vs Port Talbot
An expected loss where an early goal from Morgan and two goals in the last 20 minutes saw the leaders condemn us to defeat.
Port Talbot vs Bangor City
Two goals in the first 5 miinutes from Cortez Belle and Martin Rose saw us defeat the reigning champions
Port Talbot vs Afan Lido
A second half goal from Martin Rose was immediately cancelled out by Afan Lido.
Welsh Premier League
We lie safely in 9th place, 10 points clear from the relegation.
Next month sees us face Llandudno is the Welsh Cup 4th Round and the final match of the league and then the league splits in two
Dan

It wasn't bad to be fair to the players. Our only loss was to the league leaders who trashed TNS 4-1 in their previous encounter so there is no shame in that. Afan Lido are on a nice run of form but admittedly we were the better side and I am disappointed that we didn't get the 3 points. Survival, although virtually secured, is my main goal for this season along with a nice cup run in the Welsh Cup. Thanks for reading

Afan Lido vs Port Talbot
A debut strike from Kevin Roberts gave us the 3 points
In the Welsh Cup 4th Round we faced Llandudno. After falling behind early to a Danny Price header, we rallied in the second half to progress to the Quarter Final.
This is the league table which has now been split into two groups.
We are 9th, equal on points with Bala. I am confident that we can mount a challenge to place 7th at the end of the season.
January Transfers
The first three transfers were completed out of my reign and Walsh has already finished his loan. My three main deals were for Danny Taylor, Adam Fenwick and Kevin Roberts.
Danny Taylor
Kevin Roberts
Adam Fenwick
I didn't want to lose Nicky Holland but Carmarthen approached him and he accepted their offer. Shame as he was my starting right midfielder.
loscules22
The Bala game was very disappointing. We were the better side throughout the game but our strikers just couldn't find the target. We fell behind exactly before half time against Aberystwyth. We dominated possession but it wasn't until the 89th minute that we secured a draw. Martin Rose was through on goal when a defender pushed him to the ground inside the box. He picked himself up to score the resulting penalty. Another dominant game against struggling Prestatyn this time resulted in a 2-0 win for us - the only league win of the month.
Welsh Premier League
We still lie 9th, level on points with Bala and 7 points off Relegation Group leaders Aberystwyth.
Welsh Cup
A good result for us which sees us through to the semis to face Wrexham, who play in the Blue Square Premier.
Semi Final Draw
Wrexham vs Port Talbot
Neath vs Haverfordwest
Dan
Wrexham will be very tough opponents to overcome though!
loscules22
Yeah they have got used to my flat 4-4-2. I am hoping for a positive result against Wrexham. I know that is a bit unrealistic but it doesn't hurt to hope!
loscules22
The game against Carmarthen was sickening. We couldn't get our feet on the ball. Anyway we wanted to forget that result as soon as possible with a good result against the reigning champions Bangor City.
The game against Carmarthen was the last one before we got our youth intake. After going in front through a Ian Nagle header from a corner, Bangor shocked us by equalising just before the break. However one of our youth candidates, Paul Williams slotted home the winner with 5 minutes left.
We then hosted Bala at the GenQuip stadium. We were out to improve on the last time we met them, where we were held to a 0-0 draw. After an eventless first half Paul Williams, cut the ball back for his fellow youth candidate Darren Edwards to slot home the opener. 5 minutes later we doubled our lead. Paul Williams again was the provider as he swinged in the corner for Ian Nagle to head home. Bala managed to grab one back though but it only proved to be a single consolation goal.
Here is the league table with 4 games to go :
We are two points off 7th place, with a 5 point gap over Bala due to our win against them
Youth Intake
Here are the players from the youth intake in order of potential :
David Twose :
Paul Williams :
Darren Edwards :
Darren George :
Shaun Williams :
Mark Taylor :
The rest :
another Paul Williams.
I have already introduced Twose, Paul Williams, and Darren Edwards to the first team as they are better than the others.
loscules22
Our first match against Aberystwyth was a complete disaster. After going 5-0 down a quickfire double from Cortez Belle reduced the deficit to make it 5-2.
We then faced Prestatyn. As is becoming our custom, we went behind early through a long range shot, only to respond with two second half goals to seal the victory.
The game against Carmarthen was amazing. After going behind early in the first half to a Tom Hicks goal, we quickly turned it around for 2-1 with goals from Darren Edwards and a penalty from Nathan Cotterrall. Tom Hicks then equalised with a header from a free kick. Paul Williams then put us back in front with an amazing solo goal. However, it wasn't our night as Tom Hicks scored again to seal his hat-trick.
Finally we faced Bangor City. I rested the first team for the Welsh Cup Final, so I played the reserves. However, they weren't up to the challenge as they got easily beaten 3-0.
The final league table looks like this :
Welsh Cup.
In the semis we played Wrexham, a Welsh team plying in the English leagues. This was up to now the toughest of all of our fixtures.
The team however played beautifully, and we didn't give Wrexham any chance of going through to the final. Nearly every single pass met its destination. However, we couldn't put away most of our chances and could only snatch it by a goal to nil through Nathan Cotterrall. We were through to the final to play league runaway winners Neath.
The Final :
Nobody gave us a chance. Everyone underestimated us. Not a single person believed that we could pull off an upset. How wrong they were.
Right from the start we dominated the game. Paul Williams set up the first goal for Martin Rose to strike past Neath's helpless goalkeeper. Williams again provided the second goal two minutes after the break for Craig Jones to tap in from close range. However shortly afterwards, Neath were back in it. A long range shot from Lee Trundle easily beat our goalie, Kristian Rogers, only for the ball to cannon off the bar. Unluckily for Rogers, the ball also hit him in the back and went in. We then started to become complacent. However it wasn't to be for Neath, who were looking to do the league and cup double.
In the middle of April, I received a new contract offer from the board as my previous deal had only two months to run.
Anyway I am delighted after that cup win, with my first trophy in Wales chalked off.
loscules22
Friendlies weren't that bad considering they were all against bigger clubs. The Europa League matches were just for experience as we did not stand a chance. We also gained 90k in prize money and that put us back in the black.
Transfers :
My only signing was this guy, who destroyed us last year when he was with Aberystwyth
The league will shortly start and I will start to post updates every half season.
Dan
Dyrim
loscules22
Thanks Dyrim. Yeah as I said three of those youth players (P.Williams, Twose and Edwards) are now in my first 11. Thornton is an extremely good signing at this level. He has been providing great passes and has scored some wonder goals from long-range.
loscules22
There are some very pleasing wins in there especially the 4-0 win over TNS. The star performers for this season are Thornton and Martin Rose who is scoring in almost every game.
The league table look like this :
We are in a good position to challenge for the title, although Neath are a very tough nut to break. 3 points can be gained or lost in a single week so it is very tight at the top.
Welsh Cup :
After winning this title last year, I couldn't care less about it and played with the reserves to give them some match experience.
League Cup :
We have a good shot at winning this one this year. We easily defeated Bala and Airbus to progress to the final against Llanelli.
Transfers :
Just the one transfer in this time around. A young goalkeeper to replace Rogers as he will step down to semi-pro football.
POTENTIALLY GOOD NEWS :
A board takeover has been going on almost for 4 months now. The current chairman has said that either a deal will be done very soon or it will be cancelled. The reason behind this is because he wants me to operate freely in the transfer market.
Will be posting an update at the end of the season.
Dyrim
Dan
loscules22
I will post another update as soon as I finish March.
Dan : Yeah, the team has blended in beautifully this year.
Dyrim : Thanks, will sure try to beat them !
loscules22
Some nice results on the whole however the loss to Aberystwyth was very disappointing.
League Table with 4 games to go :
I stand at the top 5 points clear of Neath and 10 points clear of Llanelli, Rhyl and TNS with Aberystwyth a further point behind.
Remaining Fixtures :
vs Neath (H)
vs Llanelli (H)
vs Aberystwyth (H)
vs Rhyl (A)
Youth Intake
Only three promising youngsters this year :
I will post the next update at the end of the season. But before that I will post a special update fr the League Cup final.
loscules22
Could we really do it? Could we really upset the huge favourites to win the title?
YES WE COULD.
Ian Nagle gave us the lead in the 38th minute following a corner. Striker Martin Rose then doubled our lead from the spot. However, Racine put Llanelli back in it following a McKeown freekick. Exactly from the kickoff, Joe Miller restored our two goal cushion with a header following a Paul Williams cross. Then deep into stoppage time, Matthew Grieve headed in a consolation goal for Llanelli.
loscules22
We needed 5 points from those fixtures to win the title. That we did. A diving header from Paul Williams resulted in a narrow 1-0 win. We then faced Llanelli were we succumbed to a 0-2 defeat. The title would have to wait another day. Aberystwyth were our next opponent. We gladly beat them 2-0 to clinch the title.
Our last game at Rhyl was played by the reserves who were defeated 2-0
The final league table :
We finally won the league 4 points in front of Neath, with Llanelli 4 points further back in third. At the other end, Bala and Haverfordwest faced the agony of relegation.
Dyrim
loscules22
Some standout players from the team were :
Without him in goal, we certainly wouldn't have been successful.
Thornton's long-range passes and wondergoals helped us in dire situations.
Twose's passing helped us on our way to those titles.
Williams's crossing was brilliant these past 2 years, setting up some handy goals.
Finally, Rose's goals played a major part in our successes.
Thornton has won the Player of the year award
Dobson and Thornton were included in the Team of the Season.
I will start applying for jobs shortly.
Dyrim
loscules22
I inherit the side in 9th place in the Airtricity First Division, some way off the leaders but there are 29 games to go and stranger things have happened. I know that it is nearly impossible to win the league but I will try to build a squad capable of challenging for a playoff place.
The squad report
Not a bad side but there are some areas which need improving especially in defence. Brian Breen can't play in 3 positions at once! He can't even play because he's out on loan at Haverfordwest!
Benniewijs
loscules22
Thanks Benniewijs. Wales was almost a walk in the park. I enjoyed managing Port Talbot. The quality of the players at Col Corinthians is far inferior to that at Port Talbot. I sure need to offload some of the dead wood as my payroll is really low.
