Defoe isn't as consistently a cunt.

Next question.

Also, 'other people do bad stuff too' is a terrible, terrible defence.

I NEVER USED IT AS A DEFENCE.

Same here, especially if it's true that Mike Tyson's now following Suarez on Twitter.

If you bite their throat out, then yeah, but not a nip on the arm which didn't even leave a mark.

I don't understand how any Liverpool fan would want to keep Suarez at the club, yes he is amazing and makes a massive difference in games, but is that really worth ruining the image of your club for? He dragged it through the shit enough as it is with the Evra incident. Cash in and improve your squad, it'd be the key to challenging the top 4 next year.

To be fair, it's been a big weekend for Hillsborough with it being the anniversary. He has taken the shine off it and put the club under a negative light.

It clearly wasn't his idea tho, the clubs PR definitely told him to do it. It's kind of disgraceful using Hillsborough as a way to try and redeem him though. The sad thing is it'll pull the wool over the eyes of a lot of the fans again.

Why would Suarez get to choose where his fine goes. If I get fined by the guards can I say "Oh, donate that to Save The Whales will ya?"

Liverpool have fined him, and he's donating money to the Hillsborough Family Support Group.

Aka a classic PR stunt to deflect attention.

Shouldn't sell him, great player. Cantona assaulted a fan and was still treated like a hero here. He should be punished though, Liverpool can't defend him like the Evra incident.

Like United did with Cantona, Ajax banned him before the Dutch FA got a chance to impose their own punishment. Sure, both FAs deemed the club punishments insufficient (United's 4 month ban and fine was increased to 8 months and a bigger fine while Ajax's 2 match and fine became 7 matches and a fine) but the willingness to punish those who cross that line speaks much for the history of great clubs. Liverpool are a club with a great history too, they should be looking to emulate Ajax's example (which is more relevant here as it involved the same player comitting the same crime. I merely included United as an example that this punishment system has also been used in England) in this case.
Liverpool seem to have chosen to go with only a fine and on top of that, seem to be allowing him to use it as a PR opportunity. Hillsborough Family Support Group is more than that and should be treated better. Although it's not hard to agree that the money (whatever amount it was) went to a good place, if he was being genuine about his support of the charity he wouldn't have associated their good name with this incident and kept his forced donation private.
Suarez is going to get a lengthy ban regardless of Liverpool's actions so maybe I'm being too harsh on the club's inaction. One could argue that the decision of United and Ajax to act early was merely a PR stunt too, and it would be hard to disagree. Although Liverpool really need to hire better PR guys than whoever has been working with them lately (and I'm aware they sacked the last guy over the Duncan Jenkins incident).
Anyway, moving onto pointless speculation over the length of the FA ban for Suarez- I'm going to say it'll be more than 7 matches. It's the second time Suarez will be before the disciplinary committee for an unusually bad offence and downright bizarre that a player is going to be punished for a second biting offence. The punishment is surely going to be extended.
I don't know to which length the FA will go, but I don't see them going beyond the length of Barton's 12 game ban. So my prediction is somewhere between 7 and 12 matches. Thoughts?

Thought that was a good comment on how Liverpool should handle the situation. They should ban him themselves even though they know the FA will ban him further as it sends out the best message that this will not be tolerated.

Liverpool's PR record is shite, and imo the club should have announced that 'Luis Suarez has been fined and asked that his donation go to the Hillsborough Support' rather than Suarez himself come out and say it

Was also banned for 4 months by United before the FA came in with an additional 4.

Because if a player has been seen to have been justly punished that obviously effects peoples opinions of them.

I think people would think a lot differently about Suarez/Liverpool if they'd slapped a hefty ban on him themselves rather than a paltry fine.

A statement from Luis Suarez's boot sponsor says: "Adidas takes this type of incident very seriously and does not condone Luis Suarez's behaviour. We will be reminding him of the standards we expect from our players.

"Luis has admitted his actions were unacceptable and we support the way Liverpool are planning to handle the situation."

Sounds like Liverpool will give him a ban anyway
