Hodgson declaring it a cup final and being happy with the draw is unacceptable. He even showed bad management skill by calling up a single player when 3 got injured. He needs to rectify this

Hodgson is out of his depth.

The most painful thing about him tanking the England job is that it means Liverpool fans were right about him.

Talk that Trapattoni will be sacked by the FAI after last nights defeat in Vienna.

Can't say I'm surprised given we could have beaten Sweden and Austria at home and probably got a point away from home in both games as well. Have to be thankful for what he's done in ways, steadying the ship, almost getting us to South Africa and qualifying for Euro 2012, but it's definitely time to go, just not sure who will come in to replace him.

Talk of Martin O'Neill which is interesting and Mick McCarthy is being linked with a second stint in charge.

Pray to God that we don't get O'Neill. Stephen Kenny should get the job

The football England play is much more exciting than the football he had us playing.

Long ball football to Torres & N'Gog was horrible to watch. I was really happy when he got the job as well.

I still think that is down to the players. He is a good manager but any manager would look shit in the England job as to me it is evident that the squads are largely set out by the FA

He's a dinosaur.

There's actually the nucleus of a decent team here, Carrick/Cleverley/Wilshere/Walcott/Rooney/Welbeck are all good footballers and just mesh nicely together then you have the likes of Sturridge and Oxlade-Chamberlain. He could even get Sturridge into that team and drop Cleverley by playing Rooney deeper when he needed more firepower.

I appreciate there's not much depth, and I don't have a problem with him filling in with players like Lampard, Gerrard, Lambert, Young, Milner, Barry etc... when they're needed but that should be it.

I was happy when he got the England job and thought he did well at Euro 2012, as well, but it turns out that is as good as it gets. He's not building anything, he's worse than anyone I can remember in terms of being a reactionary to the media's demands (Gerrard and Lampard back together years after doing shit all for England because they did alright against fucking Moldova, really) and he's a con man.

The best thing for England is to tank hard at the World Cup, or even not make it, because if Hodgson survives it we're going to be treading water as a country for another 2 years under him.

Wasn't he viewed as a safe option after the Capello debacle?

I can only hope that the FA have a replacement lined up (or at least attempted to find one) or else the last 2 seasons would have been a complete waste.

Knowing those guys though you'll probably get Stuart Pearce

He's beaten 4 teams as England manager in competitive games Ukraine, Sweden, San Marino and Moldova. He hasn't beaten anyone other than Moldova and San Marino in going on a year and yet England are unbeaten and have only conceded 3 goals.

He might be a safe pair of hands but from day one he's given the impression that English football is on life support. When Capello resigned that might have been true, now its just propaganda spin to deflect from the fact he's a turgid, defensive, uninspiring damp squid of a manger who has made a reasonably tricky (Poland, Ukraine and Montenagro are good sides, nothing more) look like a Manchester City Champions' League group.

I've just seen as well that Montenagro and Ukraine both have San Marino and Moldova still to play. So they're effectively both on 18 from 9 games with us on 16 from 8, if we don't win both games we could be in serious trouble.

Last night's performance was atrocious but we were missing some key players - Welbeck, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rooney and Sturridge were all big misses. We could quite easily beat Montengro and Poland comfortably in both games and suddenly things look pretty dandy.

I couldn't really care less if we didn't pick any, if there were better alternatives.

It's that sort of tribal bollocks that gets England no where.

It's hardly a surprise we have a high concentration of good English players, seeing as we have the joint highest percentage of England players in the league in our team (alongside Southampton) and are Champions

Aye.

Was watching a video from Italia 90, generally considered one of the best if not the best WC ever, on YouTube not long back and the highest rated comment was 'From Italia 90 to a place like Qatar, possibly in winter, in 22.....", something of that ilk anyway. Hard to disagree.

If the clubs say that is feasible then I really don't care about Qatar holding a winter world cup at a purely basic level.

What I do have a problem with is Qatar bidding for a summer World Cup, and promising all these things they're going to do to allow it to happen and then turning around and acting like they hadn't. Hope Australia sue Fifa for all the money they made in that corrupt little deal.

From what is being reported here Frank Lowy just wants the $43m we paid but FIFA have all but shut it down anyways.

Absolutely pathetic. Suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Azerbaijan and could finish bottom of the group. Fanfuckingtastic.

Zlatan is the greatest footballer on the planet and that pass from Källström is better than Mozart.

I fucking love this team sometimes.
