Stepped up to the plate, shame that so many fans seem to actively want them to fail, seems utterly bizarre to me.

Some Arsenal fans seem to want the same for guys like Giroud and Jenkinson. It's almost like they've written them off and if they do anything that suggests they're wrong, their ego cannot handle it and they feel the need to belittle them at every opportunity.

AVB isn't in charge of transfers at Spurs.
If the transfer spending is the problem it's technical director Franco Baldini who should be sacked.
That's another one on Baldini. A clear case of new manager syndrome, except in this case it's a technical director that's responsible.

Carroll.
I'd be happy with 2 points to be fair. If we can get anything from either game then that would be good

"Tottenham have sacked managers who had a lot of success there." why Jamie, I wonder who are you talking about there?

AVB is a very average manager who was very lucky at Porto imo.

Wow.
Carroll.

My outside bet is on Holloway.

You evil, evil man

Whats he done since?
Spent a fuck ton of money at Chelsea and made them worse, spent a fuck ton of money at Spurs and made them worse.
He's still living on the reputation he earnt with a team that was vastly superior to anything else in the Portuguese league, he did well there and at Academica, but has anyone actually been impressed by him since he took over English clubs?
Carroll.
To be fair I have just put Negredo in my fantasy team too, couldn't afford Sergio /o\

Despite that, putting his success at Porto down to luck is highly ignorant.

Because of the timing of this post, I registered it as Holloway replacing Aguero in the Man City front line. In fairness, that would be hilarious.
But in terms of the sacking of AVB, I was more surprised by WBA dismissing their manager. Yes, AVB got Spurs their highest ever points total but they should be doing a whole lot better with this new squad. They've been poor almost all season and this game and the associated post-match comments felt like the end of the road for him.
Sam
Regardless of his recent results it's a ridiculous decision to sack him. Modern football I suppose.

Well call it what you want, but for all AVB's supposed genius in winning that treble he's shown a real inability to actually do anything at this level.
He's incredibly tactically rigid, seems to have an awful rapport with his players and seems totally incapable of getting the best out of anyone. He was, I'm not making a pun, bailed out last year by Bale who often produced magic to win tight games but I never really thought he had any idea on how to beat teams in this league. I don't think he's helped that he likes a style of football no one can enjoy.
I mean put it this way, he took Redknapp's team that finished 4th and finished 5th with them and now is putting out a team that looks clueless even in games they win. It's certainly not the improvement they were expecting when they got rid of Redknapp.

He's extremely stubborn, which is probably why he's failed in England. Won't drop the high defensive line which players like Terry & Dawson claerly cannot play, and plays the game at a too slow a pace for the league. Also I think that he expected the same culture in players in the EPL as at Porto, when he'd often be texting the players etc. He probably tried to get close to the players, something which doesn't really happen here.
Oh and he got more points than Redknapp's team, just the other teams around stepped it up a bit.
Although if it's true that he lost the dressing room, there's no getting it back.
I think they should go all out for Laudrup, or get a stop gap like Capello till the end of the season and then go for him.
Ninja
That's not a bad shout at all actually.
I wonder if they might be the first club to take a serious look at Pochetinno as well.
I get the impression that both managers would bring something close to the vision that I think the Spurs board have of the football they want to play.
