I suppose it's a good opportunity for Kagawa, hope Chicharito/Welbeck can get scoring more, can't be so reliant on Rooney for goals.

Moyes:

"We can definitely find the money for a big deal, 100%," the United manager said. "I know that because the money was available this summer. We were very close to a major, major signing, and if it had gone through it would have definitely shown what the club is worth. We didn't do it in the end, we didn't quite get there because players had chosen other clubs or made different decisions, but we were close to a couple of major signings and we didn't miss out because of money, that's for sure."

Don't know whos told him to say this but it's just bizarre.

Firstly, being rejected by players isn't a coup, so why is he presenting it like one. Secondly, he can't even get his own story straight close to a 'major, major signing' is not the same as 'close to a couple of major signings'.

Also, Nani is out 'for a long time' according to David Moyes, with a muscle injury he picked up in training.

Probably, I care more about what he does than what he says. It can't be worse than what he said about RVP, surely?

He does need to gain complete control. The RVP comment was pathetic, any manager saying anything like that is weak.

Yeah, to make it worse RVP got injured again afterwards. I think he was injured from the Shakhtar game afterwards, but playing 90 against Newcastle certainly wouldn't have helped.

I was due to take Van Persie off after 60 minutes, but if I had, people would have said, 'What are you doing?'

From what I've read, Moyes' comments are nothing really newsworthy. He just said we're not going to be buying anyone in January.

He's not going to talk publicly about transfers after what happened last summer. He might bring someone in this month, regardless though his comments are nothing to get annoyed about.

If this is the transfer comments its not really anything massive, though i guess you would expect him to know what players they're bidding on surely?

Manchester United currently lie 7th in the Premier League table, 11 points off top and 5 points off 4th.

With a squad clearly incapable of challenging for the league, fans and pundits alike were expecting at least one or two significant signings in January.

However, when asked if he’ll be making any January signings David Moyes has been quoted in tomorrow’s Mirror on Sunday saying “I don’t think so. I think most of the business will be more towards the summer rather than January.”

Although it may be difficult to bring in top signings in January, it will be even more difficult to attract top players if there is no Champions League on offer this summer.

Perhaps the Manchester United manager has learnt his lesson from the public failure of his bids for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas.

On Roma’s Daniele De Rossi, Moyes was quoted as saying “We did certainly think about bringing him in the summer time. I don’t think it went as far as a bid.”

You don’t think you bid for him? Dear oh dear, David!

Hardly that surprising.

With Woody in charge he probably heard 'I like De Rossi' as 'snort a line of cocaine, wax your forehead and bid a couple of million for Messi' who knows what he actually did when Moyes told him he wanted a player.

Also not surprising we won't do business in January, we need to, but if theres some kind of plan of players they think they can get in the summer but not january I can see why they wouldn't want to pay big cash for 6 months.

Win this and we'll be guaranteed Europa League when we lose to City in the final at least.

Every cloud and all that.

Certain the runner up gets nothing and if the winner is already in Europe through the league then it opens up another league position (5th, 6th & 7th place i think?), only the runner up of the FA Cup gets into Europe. That's how it used to be when we had the UEFA Cup anyway.

I wouldn't worry about that too much TS.

In today's edition of 'how much worse can United get?' we've decided to be outplayed by the worst team in the league so far.
