Levy fucked us over by sacking Redknapp. We were a team on the up and it was the only time I really felt we could actually challenge for top 4, but Levy thought it'd be a good idea to go for AVB instead. That was a backwards move and now we have gone even further backwards with Sherwood. Top 4 wont happen for us again while Levy is still there, he just wants a good bank account rather than a good team. We are now back at the Martin Jol days where we beat the teams below us, but get nowhere near the top teams an sit in the Europa League every season.

Flash.
If I remember rightly, Spurs fans were ecstatic with all their signings when the season was starting.

How did you go backwards with AVB when he got your record points tally in the PL last year? If Levy hadn't decided to buy players over his head, he could've actually built the Spurs squad he wanted.

It all depends on the season you're competing in, obviously. They went from 69 points to 72 points. Theoretically, if AVB had been Spurs manager at the start of the 2011/12 season, they'd have finished 3rd, ahead of Arsenal. At the end of the 12/13 season, Spurs were playing good football, they had a summer to spend £100+million, and all the players, according to the papers at least, were big fans of AVB. Furthermore, Spurs were still well in with a shout at the top four when AVB was sacked, essentially for being unable to justify signings that he didn't want. Going into his second season with the best statistics of any Spurs PL manager, you'd think they would [a] back his ideas in the summer rather than a director of football, [b] give him time because you've already seen he can deliver what you want on the pitch, and [c] give him extra time because of the number of signings made.

But it seems as though AVB wanted different players to the ones Baldini recruited, and when he got the ones he wound up with, had no idea on how to play them with his more defensively-minded strategies. So it was a combination that was perhaps always going to end badly, one way or another. Even then, they were six points from 4th at the time, so its not as if they were that significantly off the pace. Its fairly clear that after the initial promise, Sherwood has not exactly been an improvement.
Consensus seems to be HBA is going to leave in the summer, and who can blame him - he's never given a chance to play in a position he might influence proceedings, and usually seems to be the scapegoat when things go awry.
Tactically, Pardew really has problems. Yanga-Mbiwa is not a right back, Sissoko is not a right-winger, Gouffran is seemingly restrained, we frequently have nobody on the pitch that can deliver a coherent corner or free-kick and we seem to be reliant on Cisse (form really seems to have gone), Shola (useless and going) and de Jong (somehow worse than Shola).
I get the feeling if Man United get beaten by Bayern we're going to be a very compliant stress relief tool.

Players like Gouffran and Sissoko only really play well when the team is playing well, and play incredibly bad when others around them aren't carrying them.
Since January our only good regular performers have been Krul, Debuchy, Tiote and Remy.
We had 3 left backs on the pitch at one point vs Southampton ffs.

Honestly the most competitive season in years

I seem to remember him tracking back in the 5th place season and a few times earlier this one as well, although probably not regularly enough. Even so, he does seem to be wasted more often than not. Thought at least he's getting game time, unlike the likes of Sammy Ameobi, Marveaux and (the admittedly useless) Obertan, who seem to have gone missing.
But the team is carrying an alarming number of passengers in search of either a formation or motivation. Seems to be that they think this top 10 bonus Ashley promised means that they can do just enough to secure it (12 points on 11th place means we probably already have done enough) and then just turn up for the other games.
I mean, 4 wins in 14 since Boxing Day is unacceptable, not least given a number of the defeats have been maulings.

Of course, they're only 2-1 up away to Sunderland.

That's not how football leagues work though. The strength of the PL is different every year. You can't just assume 72 points in 2013 translates to 72 points in 2012.

I hope ye sack Sam, hire someone new who actually tries to play football and get relegated next season. You must be the worst fan of all time. Big Sam has kept West Ham up despite barely having a striker (a good one anyway) all season and not to mention the terrible luck with injuries over Winter
