Is it my duty as a member of this forum to feign excitement over someone who rarely posts? Do I have vested interest in encouraging new people to post? Is morally wrong to point out, on a public forum, my opinion over something?

The answer to all three is no. This is a shit topic, trying to leverage it against the decline in visible popularity on this forum is disingenuous and you shouldn't try to warp the views of other members in order to suit your agenda. When the off topic sections of this website become a nursery maybe I'll agree with you, until then a spade's a spade.
