Figures I've seen must've been after tax or something. And united do pay more in wages according to Utds figures released last week

Actually my figures might have been for the new signings last summer


We pay fucking spastic wages in fairness, Fellaini, Young, RVP, Mata, Rooney and probably a few more are on £100,000+

Yeah, if the summer goes how it could be genuinely could clear up about half a million+ in wages for new signings.

Was talk that Vidic leaving was to facilitate Rooney's new contract so might not be as much freed up as first thought

How does that make any sense? Compared to this very moment, when Vidic is gone we'll have £120k off the budget.

Yes, because you haven't explained what you're talking about.

If you're trying to say that we didn't offer Vidic a new deal because we wanted to spend the money on Rooney, then I think thats bollocks. Other than that you'll have to elaborate.

Even if that additional £50k is a standard wage it's still £70k less than Vidic's pay packet.

Again, its just a theory. But it makes sense to get rid of someone like Vidic, free up a fair amount of money to offer Rooney a new contract and then have plenty of room to bargain with in the summer when you have to strengthen

Apparently its the same £250k, but the United commercial team will work with him to increase the money he makes from image rights. I think it was the Telegraph that reported that but I'm not sure.

Cesc was jeered by Barca fans tonight, and a poll on on the mundo deportivo website has an 80% support for selling him for €30m.

Can't see him coming here now, but surely Arsenal will snap him up in the summer?

I couldn't ever say no to Cesc but I don't think it would be the smartest of signings given the number of creative midfielders at our disposal. He couldn't play alongside Ramsey in the midfield because we need a more defensive-minded option there instead, he wouldn't displace Ozil in the #10 role and I can't see him being used out wide either. It doesn't make sense but if he genuinely was available I'd want us to go get him - he's still world class and the thought of him ending up with your lot makes my stomach churn.

Also, if Barcelona really are going to banned from signing players this summer, why on earth would they let him go?

Barca's transfer ban is suspended pending appeal so they are going to be tearing up this coming transfer window. Can see them getting fleeced as well, should be interesting

Not only a £30m fee but £100k p/w in wages. He's a good player and looks like he'll improve but that's a helluva lot of money.

Brings it back to the whole signing potential thing. If at the age of 18 you could have paid £30m for Ashley Cole would you? 12-15 years of one of the best left backs around.

I imagine £30m would be heavily claused as opposed to £30m upfront and it would all be based around his development and United's success

£30m is a lot of money but if you really do have £150m available to spend in the summer I don't see much of a problem with that. If Shaw becomes the top class left back it looks like he will be become he could easily hold down that position for ten years or more, and no matter what you pay for him that would be a good piece of business.

If we actually pay the whole £30m, he'll have been worth it, because there's no way it comes without clauses. The same as United ending up paying the whole £30m for Rooney and the whole £19(ish)m for Carrick. His value is also determined by his homegrown status, his youth and the fact that he's 18 years old and already one of the best left-backs in the division.

£100k a week is pretty crazy, I would like to think that was clause-based as well, ie. starting the game, clean sheet etc. rather than being his nominal pay package for the week.

I say it's a good deal. £3m a year basically and the 100k a week will have clauses like Rooney's
