Should've let his assistant take charge of the game today.

Maybe managing helped take his mind off it a bit?

Dani Alves has had a banana thrown at him in tonight's match, this is how he responds:

Atletico lost 2-0 to Levante earlier, luckily Real messed up and drew 2-2.

Real have to fuck up at times like this. Horrible defending for that first goal, their defense has been shite all season.

Villarreal have been fined €12,000 (£9,850) by the Spanish Football Federation after a fan threw a banana at Barcelona defender Dani Alves.

Fucking hell.

£9,850, they may as well have not bothered punishing them if it was going to be that low. Villarreal also said they were punished for 'throwing an object' with no mention of racism whatsoever.

City are about to fined £50M for FFP, so according to UEFA that is more important than racism.

They found, identified, arrested and banned the fan for life. That was taken into account when the fine was given out.

Regardless, it's still don't think it's good enough. A very public campaign was carried out in support of Alves, and this is the outcome of it. A measly fine.

Racism in football isn't going to stop with futile punishments like this. Okay, maybe don't take it all out on one club, but something else has to be done. Stricter punishments for every club. Because shitty fines like this aren't making any difference. Diop was racially abused last week, not much will be done about that either. Spanish FA continue to have their head in the sand.

What do you propose then?

You can't punish an entire club for the actions of one fan - especially with the club banning him for life.

Closed door matches? Stop clubs being able to take fans to away games? Sanctions that affect the club as well as the fans. Anger the majority and shame the others.

Small fines are solving nothing, you may as well just not punish clubs at all if they're that low.

For 1 fan? What's stopping opposing fans putting on their kit and getting the club severely punished?

You're massively overreacting to a fair punishment

In actual news: Real fucked up again tonight. Could mean it goes down to the final game, Atletico v Barca. Barca win for the title, anything else Atletico get it

Not harsh enough and pointless in the end really. Undermines the fight against racism and it won't deter racist behaviour.

The point I'm making is these fines to clubs aren't doing anything, it's just going to keep happening. UEFA can introduce FFP relatively quickly after fans complain about overspending from such clubs, whereas racism has been a problem for ages and there's still nothing effective being done about it from them.

Hah! "Fans" complained

The person who was racist was arrested and banned for life. Seriously, what more do you want done?
