True, but all I'm asking for is a bit of consistency. Wilshere's challenge for the second yellow was no worse as Cleverley's on him. Both should have been sent off. I'm not using that as an excuse because we were awful today but it's still annoying.

Both players made bad tackles on yellow cards, both could have walked. Both were given a final warning, Cleverley was subbed off, Wilshere wasn't and made a third bad tackle.

I haven't. Wilshere deserved his red, but I felt Cleverley could have walked as well - regardless of Wilshere's challenge beforehand.

It doesn't matter anyway - Wilshere deserved his red and we would have lost anyway.

The bigger point, however, is that the persecution complex is never attractive in any walk of life. Referees make mistakes and sometimes they can have damaging consequences. Sometimes it might come in a cluster and compound the sense of grievance and, when that happens, a manager is probably entitled to the occasional blow-out. But can we not just accept it for what it is – human error – rather than insinuating there is something more to it?
