How the group stages went. We just managed to push ourselves over the line to get second place. Some good performances against Parma and Wisla.
Reward is now playing Dortmund in the first knockout round. Could be a winnable tie. All depends on if we turn up.

Just Monaco have stopped us from having an undefeated start to the season. Lot of good performances and Marco Cordoso is starting to come good. I can see him being overlooked by Portugal for international honours. The guy is developing, another season here and I can see it will be hard for us to keep him here.
Top of the league with 7 points in hand. Things are looking good for the Champions Group stage.

The reunion of the Russian linkman. Cannot believe after I left Academica, Martinez left him isolated in the squad. He scored goals for fun and can play on the left wing too. He was available for loan or transfer but I am not keen at the moment to sign permanently with Cordoso and Lukaku at the club. However at the end of the season we might well go back in for him if available.
Last deal of the window saw us confirm on a pre-contract England international Tom French. Now I don't think I mentioned this lad when I actually signed him for Academica. He came in and played really well and filled in a whole when players were tired / injured. He has the potential to be a regular England team member and he will slot in in our midfield. If we don't use him he will have re-sale value. Therefore it is a cracking deal for us.

Racking them up ...

Bad news for Euro and potential league success. Our main striker Cardoso broken his foot. Out for 4 months. Big loss. Down to the Russian and Romelu to see us home.

Pretty strong win for us against a decent and capable Dortmund side. However the tie is not yet over. We have to go over to Germany and ensure progression. Go came to the party and showed some excellent finishing to grab two, he missed another to grab his hatrick but more importantly we have a lead to defend in Germany.

Almost threw it away in Dortmund. Outclassed, outplayed and almost out willed. Had it not been for Lukaku, we may not have progressed. Lot of work to do.

Youth intake time. So not an overly great batch again, I wonder despite our excellent facilities and youth networking and coaching we are not producing. The top three look promising and the lads in second and third in the list could well develop if given the right direction.

It has been a fun ride. Going to need a minor miracle to overcome the three times champions ... oh wait ... we do have Jesus in our team!

Quite a painful way to end the regular league season. We got a reality check. It also signalled that the squad needs a fresh injection of players and that some have over stayed their welcome.
Heading into the Champions Group stage we are 9 points clear and we need to turn the form around or that 9 point gap might not be enough to ensure we defend our title.

At home we caused quite a stir with former PSG youth goalkeeper Alphonse Areola bossing the game in between the sticks. He really kept us in the game and without him it could have been far worse. We managed a sterling comeback and take a goal lead into to be built upon into the second leg.
Sadly Melgares again spoiled the party. We lost on away goals. Again similar tale to the first leg, Areola kept us in the game and was truly the best player in both leg.

Somehow and I mean somehow it went into extra time. Shambles. But we have won another piece of silverware so should not be complaining.

Rather untroubled end to the season, only tasting defeat to Man City. The club has done very well over the last couple of years. However there are one or two players, some of whom I brought to the club need to be sold if possible because I don't think their head and heart are with the club.
Walked the league.

Unlucky Roberto son, still not the king of Academica yet.

Offered the role and of course a nice little time filler so I accepted the offer. Be nice to see if I can get a gold medal for France.

Get taxed for making a living as if.

Signed the Russian hitman permanently from Academica. Really pleased to have signed him. Will be replacing Lukaku at the end of the season.
Milan's new £15 million signing. This guy is labelled as a wonderkid and was a product or a poaching product of Academica youth system. Signed this guy for something like £500k from Martitimo. Nice to see he's moved on and be interesting to see how his career pans out.

Another cup victory for us. Haven't been able to concentrate fully on my role at the club due to commitments with France U23 at the Olympics. Update on that will be up soon. All three new boys signed scored on début which is good.

Interviewed and offered a job. Have delayed the decision to ensure everything is tied up. It is a move I am seriously considering.

They brought (m)any players in this summer already?

We bossed the group along with Argentina. We played some silky football, some would argue it was not seen since the last time Eric Cantona graced a French shirt. Kevin Riviere was a real standout after left winger Lambert missed the Olympic cut because of injury. Going back to team selection. What made this incredibly hard was the fact international friendlies were being played when I had to make the Olympic squad and as such, I couldn't draft the real best players of the U19 and U21 squad into the the Olympic squad. Very frustrating. In the QF and the SF we kept it tight but couldn't finish our dinner. Both occasions it went to penalties and on both occasions we took our penalties whilst others missed there's. It set us up quiet nicely with a chance to beat group opponents Argentina.
Argentina had been relatively strong all tournament and it was going to be tough to pass them. Whatever happened, the squad and I would be guaranteed a medal at the Olympics.
But yes we get Olympic Gold. Boom. Center back Ahmed Mohamed was absolutely sensational. For only an 18 year old to boss a game like that was immense. A player to look our for I think in the future. Riviere rounded the game off for us and secured us the gold.
Despite not dominating possession we did in other aspects and that was why we won.
So from there I left my post as France U23's manager with my club future back on thought. Post early tomorrow morning will tell you what I did next.
