For a team that finished third in the World Cup though? Many thought Holland wouldn't even get out of the group stage. Besides, I don't think United dealings are done yet, and no matter what Liverpool do (unless they bring in Kompany) I don't think they'll be able to finish above United. Even with the Falcao rumours somehow floating about.

Looking at people's league predictions and am wondering why people think Man Utd are all of a sudden title contenders?

If you look I actually have them to finish 19th.

You also have Tottenham and Everton who will both be strong this season, Tottenham especially imo.

Depending on how they cope with the Europa League I think Everton could do well, especially now that they've got Lukaku and Barry on permanent deals. It will be the same old crap from us though. A squad with a little bit of potential that could actually do something but will ultimately fuck it up and come 5th/6th.

We'd never have got him but i do wonder why so many players are keen to go to Madrid/Barca still, obviously they're huge clubs but the majority of players that go there will spend most of the time on the bench.

I don't think Falcao is one of those players.

Benzema
Rodriguez
Bale
Ronaldo
Falcao
Di Maria
Toni Kroos
Isco

I fail to see how he may not be on the bench more times than on the pitch. Especially as they play 1 upfront alot.

Falcao instead of Benzema. It'll just be between them two as to who starts up front, not massive competition. They'll then play Ronaldo on the left, Bale on the right, and James Rodriquez in the Di Maria central winger role. Probably.

You've only listed one player who he'll be competing with.

Not much, though when i have he has been playing wide which would make him just a winger. In fact i don't think it is even possible to play as a 'central winger'.

He's played more in the centre than has has anywhere else this season. It's a term coined for when a winger plays in the middle, but does similar things as when he plays on the wing.

Falcao won't be competing with any of them except for Benzema, but I especially don't understand how you think he'll be competing with Kroos?

Well, Real Madrid like to be attacking, so wouldn't suprise me if they stuck him just behind a striker.

That still wouldn't make him be competing with Falcao though?

A central winger is basically a centre midfielder that dribbles out of position a lot and doesn't offer anything defensively.

And, with Di Maria, can't really cross the ball when he drifts to the flanks.

Considering he does pretty much exactly the same as he does on the wing but from relatively deep in the middle, what would you class his role as?

Something that isn't a complete oxymoron its literally jamming two words together for the sake of it.

It sounds like the exact kind of stupid shit Brendan Rodgers says when he does his 'I'm a football philosopher' shtick.

Wow. Talking about retarded.

The World's first ever false 7.

Left winger so surely a false 11?!

Bobby was 7 on the left. Anyway di Maria was an attacking midfielder last season. That's pretty much all you can say tbh.

Why on earth are you so defensive about a clearly ridiculous sounding term?

It's basically a player who starts in the centre and drifts to either clank to create overloads against the opposing fullback.

The term is about as stupid as the false 9 when describing a player's role i.e. not stupid.
