Their head reporter, Wayne Veysey, just guesses half the time. He's been doing it all summer re: Arsenal news.

He also posts that he has "big news" on Twitter to generate hype, then waits five hours to post the link, which obviously ends up being total shit. He just takes educated guesses and some people take it as gospel.

Can't say I've noticed the Arsenal stuff to be honest but I'll take your word for it. He, Greg Stobart and Paul Clennam are all pretty good for City (which obviously I take more notice of than Arsenal).

He definitely does do the bullshit with links though. He's not the only one but it's very annoying.

Does anyone know if Neil Warnock is reliable? He's claiming to be ITK on a Newcastle signing tomorrow.

Manchester United are set to sign Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria in a deal worth over £48 million, Sky Sports Spanish football expert Guillem Balague can exclusively reveal.

guessing this would mean the end of 3-5-2 then

Didn't realize he still had so long left on his contract, hence why i thought the price was a bit much.

Any sign of you guys signing any more defenders? still seem a bit light in that area

not that I have seen, could do with at least 1 or 2 depending on which formation we're gonna stick with. Add a centre mid like Vidal or at least someone in a similar mould and that would be a successful window for me. Not holding my breath though

Don't think we need one.

Di Maria means we will play 4-2-3-1, we have 4 senior centre backs plus 2 youth players. 1 senior left back (plus Rojo) and 1 senior right back (plus Smalling jones and Valencia) not blessed with depth but certainly manageable for a squad without European football

I don't really see how signing Di María necessitates a change in formation, he's one of the most versatile players around.

Because we are only playing 3-5-2 because of a lack of quality on the wings and Van Gaal name dropped di Maria as yhe quality we need out wide.

Maybe. Personally I doubt that's the only reason you're playing it. I suspect the fact you only have two proper full-backs, a few relatively inexperienced centre-backs and you want/need to be playing Rooney, RVP and Mata at the same time also plays a pretty big part. Ignoring that for a second though, signing Di María doesn't really solve the issue of quality wide-players. He sorts the left out but then who would play on the right to provide the equivalent quality wide-play? Mata's not a winger and neither Valencia or Young are really of the required quality if that LVG's issue.

3-4-1-2 to continue for me.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if Di Maria's used in a similar way to Robben at the WC.

Januzaj.

The problem with any formation with RVP/Rooney/Mata in is they lack pace, Di Maria would solve that playing 3-5-2 but then you might as well play the superior formation as you're dropping one of them anyway.

To be clear we will still play 3-5-2 at times just that we won't do it as preference.

I don't understand how they all fit in to 4-2-3-1/4-3-3

Does Rooney play behind RVP? If so, where does Mata go? Centre mid?

They've got a very unbalanced squad when it comes to flexibility in attack.

Signing Mata never really made sense when he best plays in the hole, which is where Rooney likes to operate himself. When all three of Rooney, RvP and Mata are fit it makes things difficult, which is probably why the 3-5-2 in theory suits their attack best.

Di Maria though would complicate things further and would make a change in system a requirement to slot him in. Can't see him excelling in a pure central role if he was to join, while wing back is certainly not an option either.

Was always going to happen though, fans won't be happy if the team only signs a couple of quality defenders as they're not attractive signings despite the fact it would be much more beneficial to the team

Yeah, van Gaal definitely bases his signings on what would make the fans happy.
