United don't spend: End of an era; Lack of ambition; No longer a draw; Can't compete.

United spend: Panic buys; Desperate; Ruining football.

I think you'll find that the reason United are getting lots of stick at the moment is because in recent years plenty of your fans have slagged off City for 'buying titles' and 'ruining football' and now you're doing the exact same thing. I know it might not even be the majority of fans but it's slightly hypocritical from those who've criticized City for their crazy spending.

But United are spending money they've earned through years of hard work, City spent money given to them by a sugar daddy. United fans retain the moral high ground.

I'll give them that, but still, their spending is absolutely mental.

Good. It's only a fraction of how I felt seeing van Persie in a United shirt.

Is he though?

Just had his best season for Madrid playing there.

Hes a winger though. Playing centrally basically wastes his pace and nullfies the attacking threat a bit. Yeah hes good on the ball and can pass it well, but throw him on the wing, let him run at the defender and hell cause trouble all game

We haven't been able to spend since the Glazers came in, this is the first summer we've had a huge spending spree in years. Before we were known for spending big and breaking transfer records. Whatever we did this summer it was going to be the wrong thing.

Di Maria got three assists last night and a goal against Germany. Not bad for a panic buy.

Yeah, that's complete bullshit though. He's played centrally for Madrid, Argentina and Benfica. He's probably played there for Rosario Central too.

This. Although I didn't know until recently he was a CM before moving to Madrid.

Yeah, I wasn't aware of it until recently either. That said even if he hadn't, the fact he's done it with great success for both Madrid and Argentina should be proof enough that he's not wasted there.

Vidal has apparently broken down in training, knee injury.

Good job LVG didn't go for him then.

So, Mata could be sold in January, if talk floating around is to believed.

1) It genuinely wouldn't surprise me as he doesn't fit into the way LVG plays (physical limitations).
2) Would be a bit of egg on United face spending nearly £40m on him only 6 months ago and would certainly be sold at a loss unless form improves drastically.

Thoughts?

Wouldn't be so sure, I can see it happening. Juventus are also said to be interested in bringing him in during January.

And we're just going to let him leave for a small fee compared to what we paid are we?

The only way they'll get Mata is if we're getting Vidal or Pogba coming our way.

There's no way Juve would pay enough for Mata. They're stingy fuckers, they'd want to loan him with an option to buy him on the cheap.

Did I say that? What I said is that he'll be sold at a loss. I cannot see another side paying the same, and or more, for a player that could possibly be told he is no longer required and is available. United overpaid for him to begin with.

Vidal may be used as a bargaining chip, it's possible.

I'm well aware of how Juve operate, given I support them also. And yes, while they certainly won't be paying anything like what United did or more, they have Vidal to possibly use in any potential deal.

The only source of the story I've seen is Daily Mail, who said after selling him we'll go for Hummels, Ronaldo, Khedria and Vidal.

I can't see it happening and I hope it doesn't.

I know its old news now but I don't think its been posted on here.

Anyway, last week everyones favourite Manchester based Guardian journalist last week tweeted this photoshopped picture of Van Gaal:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/iWLhaLk1BrVieqFHAgQhQ4hrlAAQrzh0DvmceZds.jpg

I mean, aside from the fact that its incredibly unprofessional at any rate how fucking dim is Jamie Jackson to potentially piss of one of the two clubs in his beat and insult a manager who is notorious for giving journalists a short thrift at the best of times.

Crumbs.... What a weird, weird man.

It actually hurts seeing him in a red shirt and not the Chelsea blue. It just doesn't look right.
