Those Chelsea fans shut up pretty quickly.

Strange. It's almost like a club legend currently playing for their biggest title rivals just equalised against them in an away game, in the 85th minute.

I'll be amazed if Lampard has any influence whatsoever.

He sure didn't.

Even better that he beat John Terry to the ball in reaching Milner's cross.

I miss Ba.

Can't believe that it's only three years ago that I was watching Jamie Vardy play for Halifax at The Shay and although I think the whole fanbase knew he was extremely good, I don't think anyone thought he'd be premier league class, never mind given Man Utd the runaround. Made up for him!

Our best performance of the season (until Zaba was sent off at least). Nowhere near good enough going forward but the midfield was pretty good and the defence was even better, Mangala was brilliant.

Not 100% sure if the red card actually was a red (I haven't seen any replays yet) but Mike Dean had a shocker overall. The only thing to really annoy me about that game.

They were both definitely yellows IMO

I don't quite know how Costa stayed on the pitch. Surely that was a red card offence grabbing Zabaleta

Definitely a yellow, but he could've probably gotten a few additional yellows across the game.

Just watching MOTD now. It's not making Mike Dean look any better, Zabaleta's first shouldn't have been a yellow and Yaya should really have had a penalty.

As much as it pains me seeing Lampard score against us, at least we still managed something out of the game. Plus, knowing Lampard referred to Man City as "they" and not "we" during his post match interview still warms the heart a little.

I don't understand how LVG acknowledged that we were top heavy and needed defenders but did nothing about it. Also his comments regarding the captain being a priority in the team meaning Rooney won't ever be dropped is baffling. No way should Mata have been dropped for Falcao it should have been RVP or Rooney. Rojo confirming that he isn't a good defender as many who watched the Portuguese league said when we signed him.

Vardy getting loads of headlines but imagine it had been Ashley Young who had won that penalty, would be ridiculed for diving.

Mangala looked absolutely class for City. Still feel Chelsea will win the league comfortably and it will be a battle between Spurs/Arsenal/Liverpool/United for the third and fourth spots.

We signed 2 defenders, 3 midgielders and 1 striker because Falcao happened to be available.

We sold 4 defenders, 1 of whom was Büttner, Ferdinand who was completely finished and Vidic who looks like he is as well too, got rid of Cleverley, Kagawa, Hernandez, Welbeck, Bebe and Nani and would probably have got rid of Young too if we'd had a buyer and would have got rid of Fellaini if he'd actually fuck off. So that's -2 defenders, +2 midfielders, -2 wingers and -1 striker hardly doing nothin about the balance of the squad. In fact the most encouraging thing about LVG is how ruthless he was with the dead wood even if I wish we'd kept welbeck

The Rooney special privileges quote is wrong as well.

The weird thing is that we had these weird implosions under ferguson too recently starting with city 6-1, including Everton 4-4 and west brim 5-5. Seemingly it has no relation to whose actually playing either.

So you don't think we need a couple of defenders? Defenders should have been a priority before anything else. Especially given how injury prone the ones we have are. Everyone can see we need a couple of solid defenders and ideally a leader.

Also how is the Rooney special privileges quote wrong? 'My captain shall always play and normally the goalkeeper'. To me that is him saying Rooney will always play.

We did sign defenders? Everyones writing off Rojo without actually seeing him play in the position he was bought for yet (and despite being pretty good against QPR) and Shaw hasn't played a game. I don't think there was anyone who was massively available to us in the summer that would have improved us, and suspect thats why we didn't buy the mystery 'world class CB' that no one could actually put a name to. It would have undoubtedly have improved us to sign Hummels, but every man and his dog knew he wasn't available and once City signed Mangala and Benatia wanted Champions League football who did that leave us with? Shawcross and Ron Vlaar? There's no point buying for the sake of buying if the quality's not there, which is how we ended up lumbered with some of the shite we cleared out this summer. The argument would actually have some merit if people could, 22 days after the transfer window has shut, decide precisely what available player we didn't buy at centre back to fix the back 4? Fuck, Lovren went for £20m+ and is absolute garbage.

Besides, the problems not so much the quality of the individuals but their combined ability to do utterly braindead things when partnered with each other and the inability of any 2 players to stay fit long enough to form a partnership. It's imperative that one of Smalling, Jones, and Evans stays fit all season (preferably Jones and he's probably the best of the 3 and the most natural leader).

And if Rooney plays fucking shite he'll be stripped of the captaincy. His special privilege is being captain, but that doesn't mean thats his inherent right. The fact van Gaal has already said he doesn't really rate him as a striker would worry me greatly if I was Rooney, because it will become increasingly apparent, too, that he doesn't offer more than Mata in midfield.

My favourite moment of Rooney's captaincy was on Sunday, after giving the ball away which led to Leicester's third goal he blamed the defenders and screamed in their faces. Inspiring..

Big mistake making him captain, after losing Evra, Vidic and Rio there's a lack of leadership. And Rooney isn't doing a good job.

I feel that LVG has approached United's issues in the wrong order. More emphasise should have been placed on building a solid defence and foundation that would make them difficult to score against. From there, he could have then added the attacking elements to complement the rest of the side. Instead he opted to do it arse about. Their attack will score goals but if the defence can't keep them out, they'll be spending another season out of Champions League football and possibly more. That's basically what it will boil down too.

Get Jones back from Injury, Shaw fit and move Rojo to centre back and they'll be fine for now.
