The hard-cover edition is 7.19 on amazon, I picked up mine I think for 4.50 in an upmarket used book shop in Hay-on-Wye (a brilliant place for librophiles). Would recommend it, it's told in a narrative chronological manner but the chap uses historical sources and contemporary accounts to furnish his narrative. But none of that makes it boring.
(just saw a copy on Amazon 1p with 2.80 delivery, it depends if you are worried about annotations/condition)

I'm in the middle of reading "Sirens", which is the memoirs of an ambulanceman. It's the book that inspired the Sirens C4 show. It's amusing.

Haha, my ex gave up on it actually.
Once you get into the mindset, it gets fairly easy. I think it adds to the immersion of the story.
Hibee
Justicar's right though, these books are tough at the beginning then you get used to the words and phrases. I remember having the same problem with Clockwork Orange.
Vercoe
Bought it online second hand and when it came I realised it'd been signed by Warnock too!
Justicar
I had the same with Clockwork Orange. Such a mental book.
Franck
The worst part? I've got less than a third of it left to read.

I have other books I need to read for school though. :/

Should read American Psycho. .

It's the most disgusting thing I've ever experienced in any medium. But still good.

Wasn't sure what to read so just going through Papillon and Banco again.
Justicar
Not to mention Huey Lewis and the News.
Franck
I'd prefer that over a chapters about "The Worst Toilet in Scotland" or squeezing out the contents of a used tampon into soup.
Man, I've never been as close to throwing up because of something I've read as I was when I went through that chapter about the waitress at the restaurant. Urgh.

This time I read the original, untranslated edition of the book.

If that's your scene and you haven't read it I can't speak highly enough of A People's Tragedy.
Probably the only history book I'd read for personal enjoyment instead of for my degree.
Justicar
Russian history is a real side interest for me. My degree(s) is(are) heavily based around Roman Imperal history/archaeology.
Wish-listed, thanks!
