The Atletico Madrid of 2037
So as you know, I've moved to Spain in an attempt to beat another nation, its been a while since I've completed a country now but hopefully a fun yet challenging trip to Spain awaits. The good news is Atletico are in the Super Cup this year so it could be the perfect start here in Spain for me, other than that, we'll need to try and break Real and Barca, however they haven't been that dominant over the years.
Start off with the bad news, the clubs finances aren't in great shape at all, in fact, a lot of work needs to be done to take the budget back into the black from the red. I have a transfer budget to work with but it's likely to be faces out before faces in this summer as I look to strengthen the squad as the wage budget is also looking bleak.
Heres the squad and to be honest, it looks like it can definitely be improved. We need to try and get a few of the players off the book to sort the wage budget but we can't go losing our best stars so we#re already in a dilemma. Midfield could be the hardest place to sort out as it looks a little weak at the moment.
Here is Atletico' history in the main competitions and its good to see that they've been competitive over the years, adding a third Champions League trophy to their collection in 2024, two Europa League titles to the collection in 2017 and 2021. They also won the Super Cup in 2021. In the Liga BBVA since their title in 2014 they've won it a further six times, most recently three years ago whilst finishing runners up the last two season. The Supercopa has been won five times more and runners up six times.
Here is the Liga BBVA history and its not bad reading, whats good to see is that Atletico have never failed to finish inside the top three since 2021. Just once before than since 2014 as well so there is a lot of high expectations in the job. I'm honestly not expecting a league title first time of asking I just want us to compete with Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Pre season played and as there are no transfers I thought I'd just add it in here rather than give the friendlies a post of their own. Not too bad this summer, started with a poor defeat but went on to win the next three whilst also keeping two clean sheets heading into the season.

Atletico Madrid - August 2037
Straight into competitive action, the summer on the pitch was brilliant whilst the transfers were quiet, in fact, dead since I took over, I felt the squad was definitely strong enough but I would of obviously liked to add a couple new faces if I could. Five games in the opening month of August for us stretching across the league and Supercopa.
Well, thats not a bad way of introducing myself to the Spanish side of football. Unbeaten in my opening month of action and with a win in the Supercopa as we ended up facing Barcelona three times out of the five opening games of the season, busy but unbeaten, more than happy with that start.
We began at home, welcoming Zaragoza and battled to a superb five nil victory to kick the league season off in style. Blesmans netted after eleven minutes with Figuerola making it two nil in fourteen and an own goal sending us three up inside seventeen minutes. Second half there was a second for Figuerola, another spot kick before Vela secured the win.
We then welcomed Barcelona in the Supercopa Final First Leg where we surprisingly beat them two nil. Vela netting three minutes before the break before Biesmans made it two nil in the sixty fourth minute which we went on to hold to nil.
My first away game saw us travel to Valencia who we beat two one. Guillaume netting a spot kick four minutes before the break before Biesmans netted second half. We conceded later on in the game but another huge three points.
Trophy number one secured however we almost blew it, we went into the second leg of the Supercopa Final holding a two nil lead over Barcelona. However this leg at Nou Camp saw them beat us two nil which forced Extra Time. In Extra Time we held our own with Miguel and Castro netting three minutes from each other and seeing us draw the second leg two all and gift us the Supercopa title.
We'd end the opening month with our first show down with Barcelona in just ten days. Biesmans gave us the lead in the eighteenth minute. Second half Barcelona scored to equalise almost immediately before Figuerola missed a penalty and our chance to win the game.
And this is how the league title looks after the opening month of the season, pretty pointless but after we've played three games we've picked up seven points, and thats enough to see us go top of the table for now but I expect Real Madrid to make it three wins from three.
Its a tough Champions League group to get out of but I'm hoping we can do it. Roma and Dortmund will both be very challenging to get points from away so our home form will be vital against those two whilst I expect us to beat Malmo in both head to head games.

Atletico Madrid - September 2037
A decent start to life in Spain, picking up the first of six available trophies here however this month would see things get a lot tougher and busier. It would appear we can't quite deal with the high level of fixtures as your about to see when we embark on life in the league and Champions League at once whilst the Copa del Rey is yet to begin.
Not brilliant at all, the month started pretty well, extending our unbeaten run for another three games. In fairness we only lost twice but both times in the league and both to opponents we really should be beating, especially after we had already beaten Real Madrid in a seven goal thriller away from home. Unbeaten in the Champions League though.
We welcomed Granada to open September and managed to grab a one nil win here. Castro gave us the three points, netting two minutes after the restart.
A trip to Dortmund, in Germany saw us grab a one all draw there. I knew the trips away to Dortmund and Roma would be hard so a points better than nothing. Castro gave us a twentieth minute lead before we conceded second half.
The 'Madrid Derby' was then here. A trip to Real Madrid saw us triumph in the seven goal thriller here. Castro grabbed a brace as he went on to net the winner in the third minute of injury time. Biesmans and Miguel were also on target for us.
A trip to another 'Real' this time in Real Sociedad saw me lose my first game in charge in Spain. Biesmans originally gave us the lead but by the break we trailed two one and then it was soon three for the host second half. Biesmans converted a second but we had nothing from this game.
At home welcoming Real Betis we returned to picking up points, but only a single one here as we blew the lead twice. Trigo netting in the sixth minute yet by half time it was all square. Second half Castro made it two one for us but again, we blew it to end two a piece.
We beat Roma two nil at home as we had to, a much better performances and Biesmans netted a brace, one six minutes before the break and the other seven minutes after the restart.
We'd end the month with a poor three one defeat in Sevilla. very poor showing. Miguel netted our consolation goal.
We go from sitting top at the start of September to moving down the table and now occupying sixth place, with the board expecting us to compete for the title we'll need to turn this around and fast otherwise I could see me being thrown out the squad. It is early days though and Real Madrid even sit below us with Barcelona only sitting fifth.

Atletico Madrid - October 2037
It would appear the season is beginning to get away from us and we are only just going into October. However this month would prove to be just as bad as September was. We only faced five games in October but once again we failed to cope with the pressure.
One win in four league games and two wins in five games in all competitions this month, we continued our fine form in the Champions League, picking up a second win in three games to mark the halfway point but two more league defeats and a draw saw us drop too many points.
We lost away at Alcorcon to kick off October, horrible display from us saw us lose out three nil.
We beat Mlmo away from home two one. Miguel and Castro both netting for us in the first half before we conceded a second half consolation.
We returned home to beat Celta two nil. An own goal early on gave us the hope we'd pick up three points before we scored a penalty thirteen minutes from time through Aydin to secure it.
A defeat at home against Levante didn't help things.
We then drew on the road at high flying Espanyol. We didn't go behind until the eighty first minute and then levelled four minutes later, Aydin grabbing us a point.
Shocking in the league, I'll be under pressure soon!

Atletico Madrid - November 2037
November an would this be the month where things turned for the better, that would be nice as I can't be far from facing the under pressure and uncertainty of my job already in Atletico Madrid. Things are a bit of a struggle at the moment. With our Champions League at a bit of an ease to date too we could secure qualification this month.
Two superb victories in the Champions league at home keeps us dead on track with my expectations in that competition. It seems our league form is finally back on the way up as we win two of our three league games we faced throughout November, keeping clean sheets in both those games too.
The month started with us welcoming Malmo FF and securing the double over them in the group stage, winning superbly five one. Biesmans and Trigo both on target to send us two up in fourteen minutes. The other three goals our way came in the second half. Biesmans grabbing a second with Miguel and Vela also on target.
Again at home, this time welcoming Deportivo in the league we beat them two nil. Biesmans again netting before Guillaume made it two nil form a spot kick just twenty five minutes in.
We lost on the road at Villarreal two one. Castro netting the goal for us, he's been quiet lately.
A superb home win against Dortmund saw us win three one in the fifth Champions League group game. Vela netted twice in the opening twenty four minutes. It was two nil at the break, the Germans pulled one back before Guillaume netted in injury time for us.
The month ended with a three nil win at home against Valladolid in the league. Castro netting after half an hour with Miguel making it two before the break. Jager rounded up the scoring.
Up to eighth but still struggling. Both Barcelona and Madrid pull away from us at the top end of the pile. We've removed some pressure on us by moving up but the gap at the top is still a hefty six points from us, it'll require a lot of hard work for us to win the title this season!

Its not to bad Shedender as you say six points isn't too bad and a long way to fo yet. We wont win the league this season!
Atletico Madrid - December 2037
So into December we flew and after a decent November it was time to really get our season underway now. With Champions League qualification sorted form our group after five games our attention turned to Copa del Rey action where we were set to face none other than Real Madrid as well as the league form.
Well what can I say, our inconsistancy has come running back to us, however we did win both our league games this month which is good. We drew to Real Madrid in the home leg of the Copa Del Rey fourth round but went on to lose three two at their place seeing us crash out at the first hurdle. We lost to Roma away in Italy in the Champions League but beat Athletic four three and Recreativo four two as we try and get our league campaign back on track.
Another jump up the table as we now move up to sixth and begin to challenge at the top again. Barcelona stay top and still six points clear of us. We are level on points with fifth place Real Betis whilst we sit just three points off Espanyol who occupy second, the leagues close going into the new year.
A return to my old stomping ground. I think its one of the first times I'll face a former European side that I've been manager of in this competition. We will face Benfica in the Champions League First Knockout ROund after topping our group whilst Roma crash out into the Europa League.

Atletico Madrid - January 2038
[/center]
The New year was here and this was my first one I'd spend in Spain but its certainly not going to be my last. I already need to stay at least one more season as we crashed out the Copa del rey last month which meant our attentions were turned to just the Champions League and League now. However this month there was no Champions League action but we did trail Barcelona by six points going into the New Year, could that change?
An unbeaten month! Thats certainly something from where we have been the last few months. We faced five games in the opening month of the New Year and went on to see us win three of them and draw one, one of the draws was away at Barcelona which we can take a lot from. Just two clean sheets in five again though.
We began with a trip to Almeria who we beat three two. We trailed two nil early on however went on to change the game. Biesmans goal in injury time of the first half set us on our way before Miguel made it level with twenty three minutes remaining and Vela went on to net the winner sixteen minutes from time.
A four nil home win followed as we stuffed Malloca. Castro netted after just three minutes with Figuerola making it two nil before the break. Second half Biesmans struck before Castro had his second of the evening.
A dul nil nil home draw with Valencia saw neither side take any of the few chances that were created.
We beat Zaragoza three one in a confident showing. Castro had another brace with goals in either half whilst Trigo was also on target for us.
The month ended with a draw at Barcelona. We fell behind after seventeen minutes before Figuerola levelled in the twenty second minute, it was goalless for the remainder of the game.
Another big jump up the table however Barcelona still manage to open a bigger gap at the top. We move up to fourth place, trailing third place Real Betis by a point, second place Real Madrid by four points whilst Barcelona sit eight points ahead of us at the top of the table. I just need to ensure we have Champions League football next season to keep the board happy.

Wow I never expect anyone to read through all the pages MadeiraOliveira but thank you ever so much! here is the tactic I've used at each and every club so far, with a back up 442.
Atletico Madrid - February 2038
We were about to enter a big point in the league season, we had just the league and Champions League left on our schedule this year, we've already claimed the supercopa but it would seem likely that that is going to be our only trophy of the season. Now to try and put some extra pressure on Barcelona at the top.
We can take a lot of positives from this month. An unbeaten month in the league with three wins and a draw which came at home against giants and rivals Real Madrid. However my return to Portugal wasn't one to remember as I lost to Benfica in the first leg of the Champions League first knockout round.
The month started at home welcoming Real Madrid where we came back from behind to draw one a piece. We trailed at the break before Aydin levelled with twenty four minutes to go, it proved to be enough to secure a point.
We easily triumphed over Real Sociedad as we beat them four one. Poell netted a rare double with Biesmans grabbing a goal and Aydin also on target for the second game running.
A three one defeat in Portugal could all but send us out the Champions League as Benfica easily beat us. Biesmans netted our goal when we were two nil down, pulled that one back before conceding again.
A seven goal thriller came as we beat Granada four three. Castro netted a brace with Figuerola and Biesmans also netting for us.
We ended the month at Real Betis with another three points, winning two nil here. Castro gave us the lead four minutes before the break before Biesmans netted seventeen minutes from time.
Barcelona remain top of the pile but its getting close. Real Madrid sit second and just two points behind the league leaders whilst we sit in third now and just four points off the top spot! It could be a close end to the season as we face twelve ore games this season.

Look forward to seeing if you can overturn Barca's lead at the top.
Dan
Thanks treva, as I said before, I don't expect anyone to read through the whole thing but thank you very much! Wales has been a nightmare! twice!! But we'll make it back there at some point! Barcelona certainly won't be easy to topple!
Atletico Madrid - March 2038
With a string of a couple of good months we've really turned up the heat on Barcelona in the leaders spot this season and now if we can produce a couple more and go on to end the season on a high, theres nothing saying we can't win this title, however Barcelona certainly won't step aside. This was a good month for us though, on paper and the pitch. Were we set to overturn the Champions League first leg result against my former side?
Well well well, another superb month in the league winning all four of the league games we faced and keeping three clean sheets. However we have crashed out the Champions League and it was to my former side Benfica, the portugese side easily beat us on aggregate sending us packing at the first knockout round.
We absolutely stuffed ten man Sevilla to kick off March with a thumping six nil victory. There were three goals before the break as Biesmans, Jager and Miguel all netted. Second half Castro struck before Biesmans and Miguel both secure their brace with a second goal each.
Next we took a trip to Celta who we beat two one. Both our goals coming from Biesmans whos turned in some good performances of late, the host netted a late second half consolation goal.
Former side Benfica then secured our exit from the Champions League as they beat us three one in Portugal and then added to our misery beating us one nil in Spain.
We bounced back to league form with a win at Levante as Miguel and Castro both found the target in the first half.
And it all ended with us welcoming Alcorcon who we beat one nil, again Biesmans the man with the only goal of the game in the twenty seventh minute to secure the points.
Well we remain third but a win in our game in hand can see us leapfrog over Real Madrid and jump up to second and apply some more pressure to Barcelona. However as it stands they have seven league games left and a five point gap at the top of the pile, surely its their league title to lose now!

Atletico Madrid - April 2038
The penultimate month month of the league season was upon us and now it was time to try and secure a strong finish in the league as we've already crashed out the Champions league and Copa Del Rey which Granada went on to win this month, a short month on the pitch saw us face four more games.
Another unbeaten month, it seems we've found our feet over the last few months but its just a little too late. Three more wins and a draw as we also went on to keep two more clean sheets which made it four on the bounce. Our draw came against Villarreal after we threw away a two goal lead.
We beat Espanyol to kick off April as we claimed a two nil victory. Miguel netted a minute before the break whilst Figuerola made it two nil and secured the points from a spot kick in the sixty seventh minute.
A fourth clean sheet on the bounce came as we beat Deportivo away from home two nil. An own goal early on sent us into the lead whilst Castro netted eleven minutes into the second half to secure the win.
A draw at home against Villarreal saw us blow a two goal lead but remain level claiming a point. Biesmans fired us into the lead before Trigo sent us two up at the break. We conceded twice in the second half but as stated, held on to draw two a piece.
We'd end the month with a superb four one win away at Valladolid. We had Figuerola on target first half whilst Guillaume, Vela and Trigo also found the net during the second forty five.
Real Madrid have a perfect month which sees them remain in second place and now have some breathing space even if we do win our game in hand they'll still sit second by a single point. It would appear Barcelona have all but won the title now, sitting two points clear of Madrid and six clear of us with three games to go.

Atletico Madrid - May 2038
And so, here we go, into the final month of the league season, its been a brilliant season and had our form been like this all season, we would of ran away with the league title. Going into May we were twenty games unbeaten in the league, admittedly we had a poor showing in the cup and Champions League, but we had an outside chance of winning the league in May...
A perfect final month of the season saw us end twenty four games unbeaten in la Liga BBVA but would that be enough to secure the league title? We trailed Barcelona already but still needed them to turn their form for the worse, we needed Real Madrid to slip up at least once as well, surely there was too much stacked against us this season?
We opened the month at home against struggling relegation threatened side Athletic who we stuffed five nil. Miguel netted the only first half goal before Vela, Figuerola, Trigo and Biesmans all netted late on which secured a big victory.
A trip to Recreativo saw us win three two. We were one down at the break, Castro levelled five minutes into the second half before we conceded again. But the final five minutes saw us switch the game as Aydin and Biesmans struck to see us go on and win three two.
Our final trip on the road this season saw us travel to Mallorca who we beat four three. Vela netted a hatrick, two before the break as it ended up being two all at half time. Second half Miguel and Vela netted which saw us go four two up before we conceded a third.
We'd end the season at home, welcoming Almeria and ending on a high as we won four one. Biesmans struck after two minutes to send us ahead, we conceded one before the break as it was all even. Castro struck eight minutes into the second half before Guillaume converted a spot kick and Vela netted our final goal of the season as we won four one.
But where is this years Liga BBVA title going...
Our fierce rivals Real Madrid clinch the league title from Barcelona on the final day see them take the league title on goal difference as Barcelona finish second in the league this year. Both top teams finished level on eighty six points as Real Madrid won by a convincing sixteen better goal difference over Barcelona. We finished third, just a single point behind both Barcelona in Second and Real Madrid in first. Our goal difference was better than both of theirs as well! There was then a massive twelve points gap between us and fourth place Real Betis. We scored the most this season, our defence let us down though!
