Except City never got any praise in the media at all. Other teams always fuck up, City never do good is a really shitty narrative the media have been pushing the last few seasons

It was especially the case last season - a lot of the media seemed to be prematurely declaring Liverpool the greatest Premier League champions ever before Gerrard's bellyflop, and there were some that seemed quite disappointed Man City won the title.
Slashman X
That's a understatement. Martin Tyler was basically full-on depressed when City beat Everton at the tail end of the season

Not saying Chelsea didn't do the same, but they're more self sufficient these days.

I don't remember that but I do remember the commentary for going flat when Man City scored. Same as well in the Liverpool-Newcastle game on the final day when Newcastle were leading.
MCFC did get the praise of it in 2011/12 because they were the best team that season, they hadn't won the league in decades, and they ultimately won the league in thrilling fashion. Not so much since then though. But then even if and when City become financially self-sufficient, they'll still get criticised for spending a Third World country's GDP before doing so.

It was the only one I remembered off the top of my head, just forgot who said it. Only reason I posted it is because one of the MOTD lot were agreeing with him in the article. It certainly wasn't an uncommon opinion at the time.
I remember around about the time of the Watford FA Cup game when you went 2-0 down and then won 4-2 you'd just scored your 100th goal in all competitions I think, and were getting a daily wanking off along the lines of being the best side in the world.

Yeah and when they do they'll probably start getting a bit more praise.
I love seeing City fail - probably more than I like seeing Man Utd fail.

When Lucas Leiva hasn't played: LWLDWDLLLL
Shows what a decent DM can do for us. Imagine if he still had his legs.

Lucas has been a bit shit since his injuries though, I remember he was dog shite when we first signed him then had a good season or two but then the injuries have killed him a bit. Seems to be getting a bit better recently though

After just 11 goals in 20 games and only managing one shot on target against bottom side Leicester, I wouldn't call #LambertOut being fickle.
If Lamberk wasn't given a new three year deal just a few months ago after that bright start to the season I'm sure he would be gone by now. Unfortunately it would cost more than Lerner will likely be willing to pay to terminate that contract.

Also I wouldn't pay too much attention to trends for example Zaha and Niall Quinn are currently trending.
Lambert is a weird one, seemed like one of the bolder and interesting managers whilst at Norwich and the early part of Villa, and now has seemingly turned Villa into the most boring, uninteresting side ever, who are destined to finish around 15th with 37 points.

To be fair I sympathise - since 2012/13, Villa and Newcastle have had similarly bad league records. There are stats that show our record is little better than Villa's, and for those two and a half years, Villa have endured some appalling form. But there was a zeal in the way press cut into us for wanting Pardew dismissed, and I know Villa fans think Lambert is shit despite those in the board saying he keeps stability or bullshit to that effect, so I'm waiting for the press to say similar articles.
In fairness to Villa fans, Lambert is terrible. That new deal at the start of the campaign looks really stupid right now, and your upcoming fixture list looks like a challenge.

Still very obvious that we're down on quality across the board when vs. Chelsea/Man City, but we've got enough about us to be up there with United, Tottenham and Liverpool at the end of the season. Thankfully Wenger has come out and said he's actively looking for a physical presence and a leader at the back in the John Terry mould, very positive to hear, but the reality will be seen this month. Although this would go down horribly with Arsenal fans and players, I'd stick a vote in for Shawcross being a proven option in this league. Wenger highlights Cahill as being a possible John Terry figure in the future, but if anything I could see that with Shawcross; wears his heart on his sleeve, definitely doesn't duck out of a challenge and leads his defence.
For the summer; replace Giroud, possibly with Cavani, Carvalho would be lovely and one out of another defensive option possibly in replacement of Mertesacker or revisit the goalkeeping situation depending on the 2nd half of the season.
