He goes on winning runs and losing runs. He'll be on the latter soon enough.

I wish Van Gaal would pull his head out of his arse, admit he's wrong about 3-5-2 and play players in their positions.

Just play this pls:

DDG
Rafael
Smalling
Rojo
Shaw
Blind/Carrick
Carrick/Fellaini
Di Maria
Mata
Rooney
Falcao/RVP/Wilson

What did you think he did wrong?

Pardew or Carver?

The problem is that tactically there's not much different, except possibly the inclusion and run for Cabella. Granted this game saw the luck go a smidgeon against with the Janmaat deflection and the handball ignorance on 90+1, but there were moments were it felt that Newcastle could go to 5am and not score.

Did the protest go ahead?

Bit of a non-event really, about 200 people turned up eight minutes late, not enough for anybody to really notice or care. As far as protests go it's a bit of a shit idea anyway, just turning up to a game a few minutes late.

Bullshit decision by the linesman. They just showed on motd him saying "there's no goalkeeper and only one player (I'd imagine the rest was between Vertonghen and the goal). Absolutely ridiculous that something like that happened in a Premier League match.

Carver specifically in this game.

Thought it was an OK performance. Carver didn't do much wrong and probably deserved a point against quite a good side. Thought Anita was decent again, Cabella began to show a bit more before fading in the second half and Haidara recovered well to actually have a good game.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks De Jong, Santon, Abeid, Sammy, Jonas, R Taylor and Obertan will all be fit enough.

Not sure where about's on the touchline the linesman was, could just not have seen he was still in his own half in which case the ref/4th official needs to help him out.

Yeah I'm still not sure what the fuck the assistant was doing.

Its a problem that I've felt for many seasons with Pardew, which is a lack of attacking plan and urgency. Yes, bodies are going forward, but you never get the sense there is a cohesive strategy. Doubly so given that the only goal came from a fluke for a player who hadn't scored in almost 2 whole days worth of football.

It wasn't a terrible performance, and there were players who did well enough. It still wasn't that good though. Janmaat was terrible, Coloccini was poor again and Sissoko was a passenger. I'm not sure about Anita being decent, but he wasn't as terrible as was he was against Leicester, and Gouffran was certainly better than most of his non-events in 2014.

What does our strongest 11 look like? There's quite a few possible tactics and selections when everyone's first - once in a lifetime occurrence, mind - and certainly it does require a slight shift to put SDJ in that number 10 role. Abeid certainly has to go in front of Tiote, although I bet whoever's in charge when both are back will be picking Tiote for another one of his liability games. Still need a new CB though.

Also, are we good enough to keep our of the relegation battle? There are plenty of social media abusing tosspots who think we should be because we thought Pardew needed removing before he dragged us there, but that bottom 3 is getting uncomfortably closer.

If he can't see where Vertonghen is on the pitch then he shouldn't be raising his flag.

Officials will always err on the side of caution though, and ultimately it made no difference to the result

A linesmen shouldn't be making an offside decision on the side of caution, he's either in a spot to make the decision on what he sees or he doesn't lift his flag. Whilst that decision didn't have an impact upon today what if come the end of the season Spurs miss out on the Champions League because of a single goal? It's an incredible error to make at this level of football.

Strongest team right now imo; Krul, Santon, Taylor, Colo, Janmaat, Abeid, Sissoko, Colback, Ameobi, Obertan, Cisse.

Elliot, Williamson, Dummett, Tiote, Taylor, De Jong, Perez,

Newcastle didn't create much but still created about the same as Southampton.

I hope Alan gives us a wave when he passes us by

Abeid is injured isn't he? Thats why hes missing the AFCON.

Going to echo whats been said before about LVG needs to stop being so stubborn and get back to 4-4-2. Happy for Wilson, got a big big future.

Blimey Arsenal did a good job. Cazorla seems to have improved a lot after some fairly uninspiring displays earlier in the season.

Is this the first time this season Arsenal have won without Sanchez scoring or assisting?

I'd have that but with Cabella instead of Ameobi. Right now Tiote isn't playing well enough for the bench.

I'm expecting Pardew to win enough to get within a win of lapping us, then go on a long term losing run. Its something he seems prolific at.

Abeid was on the NUFC bench yesterday. With any luck he'll be in the starting 11 against Hull.
