Taylor was actually good this season just never fit. And WIlliamson is nowhere near as bad as people make out, he just gereral gets blamed for everything.

I put De Jong in CM - As I would like to see 4-3-3 and CM seems to fit him more than as a Striker or a winger. He can probably play their with a DM and Colback.

Eh, I have faith in Ameobi and Obertan, besides I don't like selling players. And I said signing a winger would be a priority, thus Ayew (?) on one wing and Cabella on the other.

Ameobi is hopeless, can't do anything. Obertan would be alright backup at a push.

And Williamson is as bad as people make out, no pace at all and not aware enough to play against anyone other than a big lump of a target man (rare these days).

Championship at best.

4-3-3 with De Jong Sissoko Colback would be alright but would probably get dicked on by bigger teams.

As I said, we won't move forward with Ashley here, so this discussion is pretty pointless. Which is quite sad.

In other news it's club account release day soon, AKA Outrage as financially illiterate football journalists don't understand accounting concepts day.

Seriously, most do not know the difference between profit and cash, know how buying and selling players are accounted for, and do not understand that profit is not immediately drained into the owner's 'back pocket.

Also fun game. See how Newcastle's massive profits this year are viewed compared to Southampton and Swansea's next year.

In your honest opinion how many lower half Premier League CB's are Championship at best?

And Ameobi is quick, has a god shot on him, can beat a man and can cross. Best crosser off the ball since Solano at Newcastle. If he had a different surname and was signed for £9m from Lyon or Marseilles you would have a different view of him.

And we won't move forward, ever unless an owner spends £100's of millions. Or football fundamentally changes.

I wouldn't think differently of him, because he has no stamina, no first touch and no footballing intelligence.

His 'good shot' has equalled a grand total of 2 career goals - one of which was an error from the goalkeeper.

He can beat a man, but his delivery leaves a lot to be desired - and saying that is an insult to Ryan Taylor, Wayne Routledge, Yohan Cabaye, Moussa Sissoko, Daryl Janmaat, Jose Enrique, Mathieu Debuchy and I'm sure a lot more who can definitely cross better than Sammy Ameobi.

It has nothing to do with his surname - I didn't mind Shola as 4th choice striker. I wouldn't mind Sammy as 4th choice winger either - my issue is he's starting and playing every minute of every game despite offering absolutely nothing.

Newcastle should get around and finally sign Per Ciljan Skjelbred after all those years he was being linked with a move to St. James'. He's a fan too. \o/

One of Ameobi or Obertan as a first choice could perhaps be tolerable. Playing both is a liability - they're extremely similar individuals and have a similar element of frustration.

Williamson is justifiably a blame target because half the time a goal going in is his fault. This is not to say he is the sole item of blame. Coloccini has been useless for the bulk of the last two years, Steven Taylor's fitness is lousy, and Paul Dummett is still inconsistent. But he is extremely crap.

Newcastle's squad is an abomination. Neither of the Taylor's are good enough, Coloccini is a mid-table standard defender, Williamson would be lucky to get in the Burnley squad and I honestly think Sammy Ameobi is a pile of wank. Huge re-investment needs to be made but I can't see the Toon reaching anywhere near the Europe spots in the forseeable future.

Didn't watch the game today, but after seeing the match report, i'm glad I didn't. Sounds like our defence was back to normal and i'm guessing Townsend came off so early because he was shit and not because he was injured.

I kind of feel sorry for Newcastle tbh, Mike Ashley is an utter cunt who probably has chosen the worst managers possible for the club. When I was really young my parents used to say how they were a big club, but obviously I've never seen that. My parents even met Sir Bob and said he was a wonderful man (as if anyone expected any less).

But I just haven't seen it, they're kind of a joke figure for my generation with a slight Liverpool nature to them with entitlement to be better than they should be. Saying that I'd love to do an away trip to St James' Park.

I don't know how much the team Sir Bobby built in 2001-04 became a curse. 2003-04 was a weird season - we weren't exactly that bad given we finished 5th and weren't far off taking a Champions League spot, but we drew so many games. Maybe people just expected another title challenge rather than trying (and failing) to get top four, but the desertion of SJP ahead of a post-game lap on the final day was really bad.

Since then, I don't know what we've felt. Certainly, it's fair to say most Newcastle fans want more than what they currently are, but as what we currently are is an embarrassing misfire run by a complete bastard, I don't get why people think we're asking for the world.

Ashley is a cunt who has injected over a £100m into the club. Newcastle are doing much, much better than their historical average, as are Sunderland, who are in a similar but much worse position. People are so easily morally outraged, and totally gloss over the past. Hence why Newcastle, Sunderland, VIlla, West Ham, Everton, the big, but not massive clubs are always at fucking breaking point after losing a few games.

The last three transfers of the Fat Freddy era, were Ogochu Oneyewu, Olivier Bernard and Pavel Srnicek.

This was the last ever Fat Freddy team;

Newcastle: Given, Solano (Onyewu 59), Ramage, Taylor, Carr, Milner, Butt, Dyer, Pattison, Owen (O'Brien 67), Ameobi (Carroll 62).
Subs Not Used: Harper, Huntington.

Solano at RB, Carr at LB, Peter Ramage, Matty Pattison and Alan O'Brien.

But then again we were a real team back then and didn't finish behind Reading, Bolton, Blackburn, Villa and Boro. 5 points off relegation and 12 points behind Reading.

Given, Solano, Milner, Butt, Dyer and Owen would walk into our team atm.

We were under performing then hugely - now we're achieving pretty much what we should be with our team - which is the problem.

Poyet sacked, also.

Can't wait till they appoint a new manager, beat us - go on a decent run before signing some shit players in the summer and sack the new manager around february march time next year.

Solano was pretty much done at this point, his last game for Newcastle, Owen and Dyer were never fit. Nicky Butt was hardly a great shake. And Milner wasn't really playing very well yet.

I reckon Poyet has done a really good job at Sunderland. Did well to keep them up last year and has since lost Borini, Ki, Alonso and Colback. And had a fairly small budget to replace several players and sign new ones. Bad at transfers mind.

And Sunderland can't beat Newcastle and go on a decent run. If Sunderland win they'll all be hungover/pissed for the remaining fixtures. They've won one since the last one. I mean ffs we've won 3 since and I think the past three months, may have been about the worst we've played since returning to the league.

Would much rather the derby be settled via Carver and Ball just having a fight. Would be more entertaining and aesthetically pleasing.

Dyer was superb when he was fit though - 02/03 was majestic from him in centre attacking midfield. Butt wasn't bad too, he's definitely better than Colback/Tiote

We were shit in the league in 2006/07, and its more than likely that line-up would beat the current rabble in a game. More so if Martins and N'Zogbia played, as opposed to conscientiously objecting like they did that afternoon.

Its strange though. Maybe in 06/07 we expected ourselves to be better because of the millions shovelled at players that seemed better than they were, but now I don't think we expect anything. Neither's an entirely pleasing reality, but even then, we made a Europa League Round of 16 tie and a Carling Cup Quarter Final, as opposed to having them in separate campaigns. Hell I think to some degree Souness' tragic league form in 04/05 was tolerated because of the team's absurd luck in the cup competitions in reaching the FA Cup semis and UEFA Cup quarters. Right now, its just not really fun.

Tbh I'm surprised Poyet lasted this long. Bet they still fucking win the Derby.
