BBC not renewing Clarksons contract, pretty much kills off Top Gear then.

BSkyB will have him signed to a massive, multi-million contract before the week is over, I bet.

They can just quit can't they

All of their contracts expire in March.

I doubt Sky will get them. There will be some form of non-compete clause in their contracts, it stops them from just taking a fuck load of money from a rival network and making a program so similar.

I think Netflix have the most logical shot, they are not bound by OFCOM, BBFC or any other communications body that would hinder the trio's ability to express themselves freely. If they do get signed up to Netflix it will turn out to be the most creatively fruitful avenue, because Netflix have money to fucking burn.

Sky is a step sideways, or backwards even.

Just to clarify, Top Gear has a global audience of 350 million. Netflix spent $9,000,000 an episode on that dogshit program Marco Polo. A Top Geat format program is the biggest no brainer available to television executives in the world right now.

Apparently Netflix could be out of cash, with the huge Friends deal, and that's why they were nowhere near Seinfeld.

Can't actually believe Top Gear was still on, just assumed it ended 5 years ago.

I'm not sure Netflix would be that interested in "Top Gear", most of the show's value comes from licensing to other countries, Netflix has little market penetration in most of them, if their service is even available at all. "Top Gear" has much more value to producers following the normal TV model.

You thought Top Gear ended? It's basically the most watched program in the world.

Netflix is available in most the countries that matter with the biggest markets. Having Top Gear exclusive on it would see their subscriptions go through the roof.

That's missing a lot of big TV markets, especially ones that are big for Top Gear, and how many people in countries like Mexico or Brazil have an internet connection that is fast, cheap and reliable enough to sign up for a service like Netflix? They're not the leading streaming service in the European markets either, other services beat them by years and offer better content.

They might make an offer but if they do I am certain they will be outbid by regular broadcasters because the potential profitability in this case is just much greater for the traditional TV model.

And that's without taking the impact of piracy into account, something that likely hurts Netflix more than it does traditional TV.

Just 6-7 weeks until the baby is due now and I'm starting to brick it a bit, still not got the spare room cleared out and set up as a nursery, still not passed my driving test and still need to buy quite a bit of stuff.

On a brighter note we did go for a 4D scan the other day which was awesome;

We thought about a 4D scan but decided that the pictures can be a bit scary so didnt bother.

What more do you need to get, theres loads that you dont actually need that people/books tell you to get.

I just don't think the Seinfeld deal made any sense for them, which is why they didn't touch it.

Yeah. It seems to have a fairly limited presence in the UK, doesn't it?

Not as surprised to learn that Fifth Gear was still on mind.

The latest series was getting around 6m to 6.5m views each time, thats more than the BBC news got in the same period. Its also the most popular BBC2 program by some distance. I wouldn't call that a limited presence to be honest.

The co-pilot locked the pilot out of the cabin first. I'd say there was more to it than just suicide though, he could've killed himself in many ways that didn't involve around 150 other people as well. He made the decision to do what he did knowing how many people were on board and from the sounds of it, he was clearly waiting for a chance to be alone at the controls.

I'd say the MH-370 thing put it in his mind though: "I can kill myself with it not exactly looking like I did". If he had other motives we would've known about them by now I'd say, unless the police still haven't searched his home or whatever yet

Horrible news.

Authorities saying there's no indication that it was a terrorist incident. But it was, he purposely crashed a plane and killed 150 people.

So far we have the cot, which we won in a magazine competition which was nice, the only problem is it looks expensive and any furniture we can afford to go with it looks shite in comparison, but hey that is a first world problem if ever there was one.
My mum has promised to get the pushchair/travel system and numerous freinds who have had babies in the last few years have donated sack fulls of clothes and stuff.

Think it's just feeding stuff we really need now, although I'm sure we'll discover something else we don't have as soon as we get her home.

Anyone watching Battle For Number 10?

The audience questions are a complete waste of time. First question to Miliband 'why are you so gloomy?'. Jesus.

Dodgy Dave was squirming during the Paxman interview though.
