Cheers Dan, it's been a great start to life at Vasas but now it needs to continue as we push for promotion.

Vasas - March 2042

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/qOfDVRngogLctRlxhEvI2HbBoCMtr6r7ugUq2BpG.png

Yes it's late but I finally get to wish my followers a Happy New Year as we are now in the year twenty forty two and the competitive action resumes in March after three months off in which we played a few mid-season friendlies and didn't do great but with no cup distractions, it's all systems go on our push for promotion - five games are to be played in March.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/2mNtvM2Apd0VFeItyXjm1nglW8J8BtIZ1OR3mjBy.jpg

Wow, I couldn't have asked for a better return to competitive action as we destroyed mid-table side Cegled 8-1 in a game that saw Daniel Halasz score a hat trick of penalties and Ionel Elisei also bag a treble - the other two goalscorers were winger Aleksandar Bajic and an own goal from Gyorgy Nagy.

It was then time for the top two to go head-to-head as we hosted Varda and defeated three one as Daniel Haldsz scored his fourth penalty in only two games after seven minutes, two goals from Aleksandar Bajic after sixteen and fifty nine minutes ensured we secured maximum points.

We then struggled to beat basement side Tatabanya, needing a fifth Daniel Haladz penalty in three games to seal the points, Ionel Elisei gave us the lead after six minutes but we disappointingly conceded in the second period before Haladz's winner from twelve yards.

The club then made the journey to Siofok and secured another 2-1 victory thanks to goals from attacking midfielder Erik Nemeth and star Brazilian winger/wing back Francisco.

March concluded with a poor two one defeat at home to Honved, Ionel Elisei scoring our goal on twenty four minutes.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/EeSCcolFenvc0clVok1Av3gCHvJh8DvuASVrJLX0.jpg

It's our league to screw up as we have a thirteen point lead at the summit with only ten league games remaining and I'm pleased with how this season has gone to date as we have yet to draw in the league. In our twenty games we have won seventeen and lost three while bagging fifty six goals and conceding only eighteen times.

Vasas - April 2042

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/jY1PXz9g6hkV581hOKwJwEgCb3a3LvBSvwA0Hohs.png

With just three months and ten league games remaining, we have reached the 'business end' of the campaign and with a thirteen point lead at the summit then it's definitely our league to surrender, only four league games are to be played this month with three of them being on the road.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/loEkHDRGGdw0vU02bExfkOLMEF2JVxMfum7l8YXE.jpg

The second competitive month of twenty forty two began with a convincing 4-0 success away to Baja as our Romanian star striker Ionel Elisei bagged a first half treble following goals after four, thirty three and forty minutes while the other goal came from Attila Prukner on fifty six minutes.

Our one and only home fixture this month saw us take part in a nine goal thriller, unfortunately losing the contest by five goals to four but it saw Ionel Elisei score a hat trick for the second game running, Aleksander Bajic netted our first goal on fourteen minutes but we disappointingly conceded five times as we were 'booed' off.

For the first time this season (I believe) the side suffered back-to-back defeats, going down two nil at Paks.

A trip to Csepel concluded the month as the side bounced back and recorded a four two win on our travels. Christian Burchert scored after five minutes before two goals in three first half minutes from Francisco and Daniel Halasz seemingly had us in control, Zsolt Toth added our fourth goal nineteen minutes into the second period.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/MDxP4LPg3dQ5zokAZP6GbI4ylb56eXdvo1qPZeB8.jpg

Those back-to-back league defeats hasn't done too much damage as we still find ourselves ten points clear at the summit and clear of second placed Papa who are only ahead of Varda due to a superior goal difference. This was arguably the worst month of the campaign and we must bounce back in an attempt to wrap up the league.

Vasas - May + June 2042

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/BmWmRgMlT7gEDCKRz3QS3NEW3ihkFUUTflI5jFP6.png

The business end is upon us and we have reached the final two months of the league campaign and the only reason why June has been added in is because only two league games were played as the season concluded, we also had four games in the month of May as we looked to seal the league title.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/mQ91SZtUfUkNwtRJ7QHkav58NrcKG3PWerfLQ1P2.jpg

We welcomed Bekescsaba to our home for the first game in May as we recorded a 5-2 victory to close in on the league title. Ionel Elisei bagged two first half goals inside the opening thirty two minutes before second half goals from Francisco, an Istvan Prunkner own goal and Zsolt Toth sealed the points.

Seven days later the side made the journey to Putnok and easily disposed of them, winning four goals to nil as Ionel Elisei scored twice, Zsolt Toth and Francisco also found the net.

For the first time this season in the league, we drew a league game as despite Zsolt Toth scoring after only five minutes we could only manage a draw at home to ZTE.

The final game of May saw us make the trip to Soproni VSE as we once again hammered them, winning 5-0 in a game that saw us secure the league title and deservedly so. First half goals from Zsolt Toth, Erik Nemeth and Ionel Elisei set us on our way to success, Toth's second goal of the game made it four nil and then Christian Burchert made it five with eighteen minutes remaining.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/T3HV5r1CAccCOGfZdQToJW1Hu8mIaNTig9i36wii.jpg

Our penultimate game of the Division II season saw us travel to Kozarmisleny as the side won five two in one of two "pointless" games - Erik Nemeth, Zsolt Toth (pen), Francisco with a double and Laszlo Kovacs the goalscorers on the road.

The league season then concluded with a disappointing three two home defeat against Soroksar as we surrendered a two goal lead, first half strikes from Ionel Elisei and Laszlo Kovacs seemingly had us in control but the visitors fought back and won it late on.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/BCNWdhO6WyAoZPnsBVxc1XqHg6KrReN5ZlzGVHzM.jpg

Champions. We ended up finishing five points ahead of runners-up Papa who were also promoted to the top flight of Hungarian football as they also finished five points clear of third placed Honved. I'm delighted we managed to seal promotion and I'm looking forward to seeing how the club do in Division I.

Vasas - Pre season news

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/01cvTC9fjNt2b41tVRVsrWmUdNLj0RqfsxGQ3VNF.png

Securing the league title last season was a huge success for Vasas and it also marked my first trophy since arriving in Hungary but I'm hoping I can achieve more success at this football club (unless we end up being relegated) but I'm under no illusions that the top flight is going to be tough and we're predicted to finish twelfth which is surprising.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/2vqns5RRTtkQI4qeXyEQrZhQb6xnvnGXdNyu0N4S.jpg

The board have offered me three options to choose from and I ended up choosing mid-table finish as I don't want to put too much pressure on the club ahead of the upcoming season, I modified the transfer budgets and ended up getting a budget of four hundred and fifty thousand pound and I don't know how much I'll end up spending this summer.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/SYor3BwlPr5oJMP3x7r6vW6m62picIEfljGTC3Fa.jpg

Only four friendlies were arranged by the assistant manager and they'll all be played on the road. We will start with a trip to MTK before heading to Maglod, feeder club Vac before the friendly program ends at Division II side Bekescsaba.

Vasas - Pre season round-up

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1LPLszozJacSoeN84x8uOeM7uAfMaPWwXLUcBNKO.png

It's almost that time again, yes another league season is beckoning and I'm hoping it'll be a season to remember for the players, officials and supporters of Vasas and I hope to guide them to a mid-table (top-half preferably) a cup success but I realise that it's going to be difficult and I'll need to be "smart" in the transfer window.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/FLUzEHWqkPXGK6ietAdCuk91QeCxuuSOfDA4aB8V.jpg

A massive TEN players arrived at the football club this summer ahead of our top flight season but obviously they won't all be first choice. Marcel Holtkamp will be our new left back following his arrival on-loan from fellow top flight side Ujpest while Mate Gaspar, Alan Oudshoorn, Marcos Augusto and Aecio Gomes will also be first choice. I'm unsure on how much game time Karoly Varga, Istvan Somodi, Zsolt Biro or Attila Jagodics will get this season but we'll see.

Unfortunately experienced left back Holger Dombrowe refused to sign a new deal and he became one of four players to exit this transfer window. Peter Gyuracz was also released while Gyula Somogyi went to Siofok after agreeing a pre-contract with them and experienced attacking midfielder Laszlo Kovacs went to Nyiregyhaza for two point four thousand pound.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/0HohZvYFN1HluQpVtlHfp0HxqwhQE03CoRjbx9FB.jpg

Couldn't fault how the pre season program went as we won three out of our four games that were all played away from home, drawing nil nil against feeder club Vac but we should have won but the side did beat MTK three one, Maglod two one and Bekescsaba four one. Star (but unhappy) striker Ionel Elisei scored four times in as many games and he'll be key.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/sber55vUwNz9IvG6H5bnNlK28YgBSeIpjHaaGrAo.jpg

Just the last piece of news this pre season and it's big news as I have agreed to sign a two year contract extension at the football club that will see my new deal expire at the end of June in the year twenty forty five and I felt it was important to pen the new deal as I only had eleven months remaining and didn't want it to run down.

"I'd love to win the league and cups with Vasas" I said in the press conference and was the main reason for signing the deal...

Vasas - July + August 2042

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/zrmo1N8ccVMD54atlyHIqcio9K0UEKJCW2XxvWCB.png

After a short but promising enough pre season program it was time for the competitive season to begin but because we only had the one game in July, I decided to add the other seven games in the month of August - one of them being in the first round of the Hungarian Cup against a team from the league below.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/BktwEBrQeX2s6GgNLL7Otd18mfYf53M6HVxqBznQ.jpg

I couldn't have asked for a better start to the league season as we edged a ten goal thriller against Kecskemet, winning 6-4 in a game that would be remembered by Romanian striker Ionel Elisei who bagged four goals (two in the first half and two in the second half) while the other goals came from Marcos Augusto and Zsolt Toth.

We then welcomed Nyiregyhaza for our first home game in Division I as the team recorded a two one success. Dutch attacking midfielder Alan Oudshoorn scored our first goal on forty two minutes before a Zsolt Toth penalty with five minutes remaining sealed the points.

It was then a nine goal thriller against Papa, securing a 5-4 victory as the goals continued to fly in at both ends - Francisco, Ionel Elisei 2, Alan Oudshoorn pen and Marcos Augusto the goalscorers but once again we conceded quite a few goals which is irritating.

The side then kept their first clean sheet of the league season, beating Ajka two nil at home thanks to a goal in either half. Romanian striker Ionel Elisei broke the deadlock after thirteen minutes, Alan Oudshoorn sealed the points with a second goal with twenty three minutes remaining on the clock.

We suffered our first defeat of the season as we crashed to a four two defeat away to Dunaujvaros - Zsolt Toth scored in first half stoppage time before centre back Mate Gaspar scored our second consolation goal on fifty four minutes.

Next up was the Hungarian Cup first round trip to Kaposvar and we eased to the next round of the competition after recording a seven goals to two success. We had scored three of the goals in the first half as Alan Oudshoorn, Olexly Piskovets and Erik Nemeth scored before second half goals from Aecio Gomes, a Francisco double and Zsolt Toth sealed our place in round two.

Four days later the side travelled to Halads and lost six nil, enough said about that the better.

The month concluded with a 5-2 home victory over Debrecen much to my delight after back-to-back league defeats as central midfielder Pingo got us off to a flyer after a minute before further goals from Zsolt Toth, Ionel Elisei, Francisco and Alan Oudshoorn saw us secure maximum points.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Yx4c270YptLJtxdSQ0va8E1ijLTDL1PaoAUytPYW.jpg

I can't complain about the start to the league season as we are lying in fifth place and currently exceeding expectations but I can't get carried away as only seven games have been played in Division I. One thing that I'm finding frustrating is the fact I've conceded twenty one times in those seven games (conceding on average three goals per game) but scored twenty two.

Vasas - September 2042

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/H7KyRrL1MYdTXG38hkcqSY2ymKbFNn7Ej2iRQ0Xm.png

With the first full month of the campaign behind us, I can't complain with the start that we have made in Division I as we are lying in fifth place after picking up five wins from our opening seven league games - a start I 'dreamt' about. September proved to be another long enough month as we looked to maintain our solid start.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/VY9UsfIVlB4MfSiBNrRDe1oUy4heSurueSkmDzEW.jpg

The month began with our first game in Group D of the League Cup as we destroyed Division II side Veszprem 7-1 at home as Ionel Elisei was the hero with a hat trick while Brazilian winger Francisco struck a second half double - the other goals came from central defender Aecio Gomes and left winger Zsolt Toth.

It was back-to-back League Cup Group D action to begin the month as the side travelled to fellow league side Nyiregyhaza and edged the contest three two as Dutch attacking midfielder Alan Oudshoorn scored twice inside the opening twenty two minutes and when the game looked destined to end in a draw, Ukrainian striker Olexiy Piskovets struck in second half added time to seal a second Group D win.

Just three days later the side travelled to league favourites Videoton and shocked them, winning 4-3 in one of the greatest comebacks this season. We found ourselves three goals down and set for a drubbing before Brazilian midfielder Marcos Augusto pulled a goal back on thirty six minutes. It was then three two on fifty two minutes when Alan Oudshoorn slotted home a spot kick and then his second on sixty one minutes levelled the scores, Oudshoorn bagged his hat trick to win us the game five minutes later.

The club then eased to the next round of the Hungarian Cup - Zsolt Toth, Ionel Elisei 2 and Marcos Augusto the goalscorers as we won four nil away at non-league side Sarisap-TASK.

But then we suffer our first defeat of the month, losing a FOURTEEN goal thriller against Ujpest nine five. Ionel Elisei scored a hat trick on the road while Francisco and Olexiy Piskovets also scored - we had scored five goals away at Ujpest, including four in the first half, who else could say that? Shame we conceded nine goals though.

The side bounced back though to advance in the Hungarian Cup, sealing a two nil win at Csillaghegy as both Zsolt Toth and Pingo found the net.

We concluded the month though with a three one defeat at home to Diosgyor - Ionel Elisei scoring our consolation goal.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/GUDaDH8coTW4VApq0mGwr4qoSBv4VVJpMGnQctS7.jpg

Those back-to-back league defeats haven't done too much damage in the league as we still find ourselves in fifth place and I'm still pleased but we need to stop conceding goals as thirty six goals have been shipped in ten games while we have scored thirty two times thus far but I can't complain as we're exceeding expectations....so far.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/guPABanVnmo4RvgbkPWTMsdFr88FBAIAqpmwLYP3.jpg

Things are looking good in the League Cup though as we top Group D with two wins from two games, the board don't consider this competition important, which is surprising, but I consider it important (as I do all competitions as it's a trophy at the end of the day) and I'd love to progress from this group.

Vasas - October 2042

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/l8adYY10aVXFy707y2KT5Q8ZNfPU9k4DsN2oDejo.png

Ten games have been played in Division I this season and I can't fault the start to the campaign as we remain up in fifth position and still exceeding expectations but with twenty league games remaining this season you can expect twists, turns, excitement, joy and heartbreak at Vasas SC. Only three league games are played this month, two League Cup Group D encounters and one in the Hungarian Cup.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/L6vAu9fyrcbHpmfj88L3KQemu1ilVVn0M5nMqGPl.jpg

Alan Oudshoorn had a game to remember against Puskas Akademia as the month began with a 4-0 success.

That was then followed up with a five two victory away to Putnok in the League Cup Group D encounter, Ionel Elisei scored a hat trick while Mate Gaspar and Francisco were on target in a game that saw us score four goals in the first half.

It would be back-to-back League Cup trebles for Ionel Elisei as the Romanian striker hit his hat trick in the first half as we beat Veszprem seven one away from home. Erik Nemeth scored twice, Zsolt Toth and Zsolt Nagy were also on target in the rout.

We then travelled to surprise struggler's Ferencvaros and eased to a 4-0 win for the second time this month in the league. Pingo broke the deadlock after only eleven minutes with the only goal of the half, left back Marcel Holtkamp doubled the lead ten minutes into the second half and then two goals in the final nineteen minutes from Aecio Gomes and Ionel Elisei completed the big win.

A home fixture against Gyor was our final league game of the month as we suffered a four two defeat, we were being completely outplayed before Romanian striker Ionel Elisei (who remains unhappy at the club) scored twice late on to put some 'respectability' on the scoreboard.

The month then concluded with an epic Hungarian Cup fourth round tie against Kecskemet in which sixteen goals were scored and we lost the game nine seven after extra time. Francisco and Ionel Elisei both scored twice in the first half and so did Alan Oudshoorn as we led five four at the interval, Adam Balajcza and Zsolt Toth also scored in the second period as the game ended seven apiece but Kecskemet scored twice in extra time to progress. I was furious to conceded nine goals in a game for the second time this season.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ytihHgUFUPcpFQnrkdIIcU55WSA7uGhX5SMsucyS.jpg

Surprisingly we aren't able to move in the league as we still remain in fifth place after thirteen league games that has seen us win eight and lose five times and we also continue to score and concede goals at a crazy rate - forty two have been scored and forty have been conceded.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1NKJICdVp4MEPfGtqLuYjSGlpBXtJIoLH2wlPr0U.jpg

With two group games remaining, I am delighted that we have progressed to the next stage of this competition, regardless of whether the board consider it important or not, I'm not going to cause a fuss about it. So far we have won our first four games and have a positive goal difference of sixteen. It's an early exit for both Division II sides Putnok and Veszprem.

Vasas - November 2042

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/pw1VEFCPhR8yPgEk4AxBcuV43jHjiv13oWUK9vS0.png

It's been a great season to date at Vasas and long may it continue as we're exceeding expectations in Division I and now we are about the enter the penultimate month of twenty forty two and the final month before the traditional long winter break here in Hungary. Six games will be played this month, four in the league.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/POkhEppswrLKug9DNFzIBve6fIGwAwOncE7cilpj.jpg

We began the penultimate month of the calendar year began with a trip to struggling Diosd who we easily beat 3-0. Left winger Zsolt Toth broke the deadlock on thirty eight minutes before Nandor Toth doubled the lead on seventy two minutes and then two minutes later, Zsolt Toth's second of the game sealed the points.

It would then be back-to-back three goals to nil victories as we beat Pecs at home - a Pingo spot kick opened the scoring on nineteen minutes, two further goals arrived in the second period courtesy of Olexiy Piskovets and Francisco.

Our penultimate League Cup Group D game saw us draw three apiece against Nyiregyhaza - Zsolt Toth, Alan Oudshoorn pen and Marcel Holtkamp the goalscorers.

The final group game in the League Cup was against Putnok who we managed to beat 3-1 as we advanced through the group stages unbeaten. Dutch attacking midfielder Alan Oudshoorn scored on two minutes, Erik Nemeth added our second goal twenty one minutes before Zsolt Toth added the third goal on seventy three minutes.

Next up we welcomed Kecsemet on our return to league action but we suffered a single goal defeat.

The final competitive game of twenty forty two saw us make the journey to Nyiregyhaza and we suffered back-to-back defeats and it was also back-to-back games in which we failed to score, we lost five nil and that's all I'm going to say about that game. Dismal performance.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/C8flGKggaTlixVdFuGrS3Y0cKUEAaFjUlSgrUaSJ.jpg

We will be heading into twenty forty three lying in fifth place in the league and I'm utterly delighted with that as we're currently lying twelve points ahead of our pre season predicted finish of twelfth place. I'm annoyed that we've conceded forty six times in our opening seventeen games but scored forty eight goals. We need to try and shore up the defence in the second half of the season.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/acz7Ig8W6k7vok59iRcIXHfSabCEgO4TRumm74vB.jpg

Progressed to the knockout round(s) of the League Cup with ease as we didn't lose a single game out of six and scored goals freely as well. In our six Group D fixtures we scored twenty eight times in six games and conceded ten. I'd love to try and win this trophy and secure #2 in Hungary but it isn't going to be easy.

It's the first time I've had a chance to wish my followers a Happy New Year, it's now 2043 and it's been a fantastic first half of the season and long may that continue as we're exceeding expectations, something I usually achieve wherever I head too. We ended up playing eight games, including four in the League Cup.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8gDeTBi6ZtcbFIunRmofKX8nH6lzPZ9QcS773O1C.jpg

We have had a fantastic return to competitive action following the winter break as we not only won our four league games including a shock success away to Debrecen but we also managed to progress to the semi finals of the League Cup against the odds in my opinion as we beat Diosd in the second round before dumping Gyor out in the quarters.

I'm still frustrated about the lack of clean sheets even know we kept two clean sheets in the League Cup second round against Diosd but we failed to keep a single one in the league as we conceded two against Papa, one against Ajka, two against Debrecen and three against Haladas. Annoying.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/dsOu30eXYdVxchcqhaNWLpowtHhyzoxUrDjwuoRB.jpg

Our unbelievable campaign continued as we're in fourth place in Division I and I'm confident we've def. exceeded expectations this season because after twenty one games I didn't expect us to be ten points behind leaders Videoton, obviously we won't win the league for at least a few seasons yet but it's nice that we aren't struggling....as the media expected us to do so.

Vasas - April 2043

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/7jSk8yP9wQbl4adImwsyyINwKbWXpNsrHxkBjX0U.png

The penultimate month of the current campaign is upon us and what a season it has been thus far for everyone associated at Vasas, we are not only 'riding high' in the league but we've also had a tremendous run in the League Cup so far, not bad for a cup that isn't 'important' according to the clubs board.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ZCPaz59DVv2bwsRXH4NYH5mFZ13ykeRSDqerc4MV.jpg

It turned out to be a mixed month for the club, one that began with a creditable scoreless draw at home to the league leaders Videoton, we were outplayed for large parts but defended for our lives, we beat Dunaujvaros and Puskas Akademia in the league but suffered hammering's at the hands of both Diosgyor and Ujpest.

We have one foot in the final of the League Cup after recording a four one success in the semi final first leg against Puskas Akademia as goals from Erik Nemeth, Alan Oudshoorn (pen), Mate Gaspar and Olexiy Piskovets scored. I'd love to win the League Cup this season just so it's 'out of the road' regardless of whether it's important or not.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8YcoJNu7yaFFhD4PDO1guUhWqqFbejsq3K69yxzd.jpg

Four league games are remaining and things are looking promising for the club finishing in a Europa League position, against all the odds but it's going to be a tough final four league games as only nine points separate me in third and Dunaujvaros in eighth place but whatever happens, happens and it's been a season to remember.

Only four league games are remaining this season and it's been a tremendous campaign for the football club as we've officially beaten our pre season expectations of a twelfth place finish and we've also one foot in the League Cup final after beating Puskas four one in the semi final first leg, just need to avoid a humiliating fight back from them to book our place in the final.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/FmhX8t5qGxvDrtCpGs0jiwWokUjSsnTfcjTIh4W8.jpg

First thing is first I suppose, we defeated Puskas Akademia three one in the second leg of the semi final to book our place in the 'show piece' but unfortunately we couldn't cause an upset (yes, team in the same league but it still would've been an upset) as Diosgyor came out on top of a ten goal thriller, winning six four but it was great to reach the final.

We did manage to win three of our remaining four Division I encounters though as we sealed a European spot against all the odds, don't forget our pre season predicted finish - we beat already relegated (yeah, that was a massive shock) Ferencvaros, Diosa and Pecs while our one league defeat this month came against Gyor.

What a season this has been, we will be playing in next seasons Europa League after securing a third place finish in the league and I, for one, am delighted but now I expect the pressure to be upped for next season and the board will expect a top half finish or at worse, another European spot but I pray it's not the latter. One of the biggest shock was Ferencvaros being relegated.

Good season man, was expecting you to take that league cup though, shocked you didnt! You're still a comfortable 6 trophies ahead by 2042

You can't win trophies all the time Dan, that's a little unrealistic but I can't complain at how the season had went because I didn't expect a third place finish and to even reach a cup final.

Vasas - Pre season round-up

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/eBxHtrsU0nux50uBcun4oQano7sbjmH3LqO1bb7C.png

Unbelievably I am about to enter my third season at Hungarian side Vasas and I'm pleased to remain here as I've had two fantastic campaigns since my arrival in which we won the Division II title in my first season at the club before finishing third in Division I and being runners-up in the League Cup and now I don't know what to expect this season.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PyIZWH7or7KNY3vE9HUtZrZXsP7dCfQ18FCGjxZF.jpg

Due to the 'success' last season, the pressure is somewhat on us this season as the media expect us to finish in seventh place and that's reflected by the boards expectations as the minimum they expect is a top half finish and due to my 'modifying' the wage budget, I have received a transfer budget of nine hundred and twenty five thousand pound and I doubt I'd even use a percentage of that.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/D4HwZNc3XxR4VlgvCEXc5PwTCxh9iK96cJNMbRtr.jpg

Just three players joined the club this summer as I didn't want to make wholesale changes - Danny Taylor was our only signing in which saw us spend cash as the Scottish shot stopper arrived from Berwick Rangers for thirty five thousand pound while Norwegian left winger Adam Vedo and Romanian central midfielder Bogdan Trandafir both joined on free transfers.

It was them to remove some of the 'deadwood' as I let Jozsef Orban, Aleksandar Bajic, Adam Balajcza, Benjamin Vass and Lajos Orban depart the club when their contracts had expired at the end of June while Laszlo Fodor joined MTK after agreeing a pre-contract with them, I wish all the departing players well but truth be told is that they won't be missed.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/sEKbaskWiPA3OP13TLsszvp9DDWrdo74GgoDboSE.jpg

It turned out to be a mixed pre season that saw us lose six one is one of those games and that was embarrassing enough but we did beat Gornik Zabrze five one, Vac nine nil and Zemun four nil. Not too bad bar that hammering against Podbrezova.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/5PrF14vhVwZa74L47edxVuNd73RnK1WbraBZj4qV.jpg

Please happen. It isn't an 'official' takeover approach but just a tycoon who sounds interested in completing a buy-out of the club and invest large sums of money, it all sounds too good to be true and I won't get excited because when/if we are taken over then it'll probably be some local businessman who'll invest peanuts.

Because I no longer can find the time to do month-by-month 'reports' due to work commitments amongst other things, I have decided that I'm going to do either mid-season/full season review of the campaign or just a season one - what do you guys think will be better?

I'd say a mid-season/full season review would be better. One at the end of December and one at the end of the season.

Sounds good Johno, I'll do that then.

Cheers for the comment dmg033, it makes more sense to do a mid-season update and then a full season update as lately I haven't had the time to do monthly updates and I don't want this career to end, not yet anyway.

Vasas - Mid-season update 2043/44

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/45w5P8fiCIihB82hVq4xLuQPjr7oqJM19JRS8I6F.png

Since I have current 'time constraints', I won't be able to do monthly updates unfortunately and since I don't want this career to end then you can expect a mid-season and full season reviews for the foreseeable future, but you may see monthly updates next season since I'm off work, if time allows me. So yeah, this update will see how we have done thus far in the league, Hungarian Cup, League Cup and the Europa League as well.

Europa League:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/z4ZgYzHQdd90lwey8tQ9ec53NEGYNyhyUNZbBQYF.jpg

I quite enjoyed our stay in this seasons Europa League as we reached the third qualifying round in which Turkish giants Fenerbahce eliminated us eight three on aggregate but we did beat Banants in the first qualifying round and then in the second qualifying round we shocked Bulgarian outfit Litex before our exit to the Turks.

Hungarian Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/X16JA99TQ5TSt2cpLsKjuX5aMQw6CYideWgcBkGR.jpg

Poor, can't really say anything else now can I? The board expected a place in the semi final but instead we got knocked out in the second round to Division III side Letavertes. Unacceptable. Things did start respectably well when we dumped out non-league side Ozd in the first round but our run ended prematurely.

League Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/gVDfXhQvZd7uXTYVKY8Fi2tzkx9Q0qe9N3hB9dLo.jpg

We are going strong in the League Cup once again though as last seasons runners-up eased through the group stages with a one hundred percent record but we have a tough second round two legged tie against fellow Division I side Puskas, I'd love to progress but it'll be difficult.

League - Division I

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/4GPOjHiNkjnNT0CMkRQisybP9xxdiMrJGP7WUeNr.jpg

It's been a mixed first half of the campaign as we've tasted six defeats in Division I and continue to ship goals bar a few clean sheets that we've been able to keep (vs. ZTE, Nyiregyhaza and Gyor), it's been a frustrating campaign to date and I hope we can find some sort of consistencey after the winter break. The biggest shock result in there though has to be our 4-1 win over champions Videoton.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/EgO512AMCBlr3VBH2HwP2EV2h7wBjTY8xEpkRzqw.jpg

And so we're eighth heading into the winter break and though I'm a little disappointed with that, only four points separate myself and Pecs who currently occupy the fourth spot in the table. The alarming thing is though (and maybe I shouldn't be concerned...yet) is that we are only twelve points above ZTE who are currently in the final relegation spot.

Breaking news:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/zzHk3bUdYDhuzadZokrL808mjyUQrBxPq5I9r9SU.jpg

Yeah, we've been taken over by a Japanese businessman who is a tycoon (first time that's happened to me if I remember correctly) and I'm praying in the long-term he'll continue to pump money into the club and give me some lovely transfer budgets to play with as he has stated that he has "promised that he will stop at nothing to ensure Vasas become one of the great forces in domestic and continental football."

But, I'd be lying if I said I doubted because the interest had cooled a few times, thought he was going to pull out.

Really thought it was going to fall through Dan because the 'prick' has 'cooled interest' twice or maybe three times and that was frustrating. So far he hasn't changed the transfer budget, maybe next season but has allowed me to get a senior affiliate and up both the youth and training facilities.

Vasas - End of season update 2043/44

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/lcyGJ65wv1T08yqwyRRJY15gk9wTG074Zy4xafae.png

With the club out of both the Europa League and Hungarian Cup, the second half of the campaign meant we could concentrate on the league, trying to secure a European spot for next season while trying to win the League Cup after coming so close last season. Can we win silverware this season or will it be another trophy-less campaign?

League Cup

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/0BUYN2FrddXMOtTZ1OrXFc1y9KWU8FsSS1lnMeaN.jpg

After easily winning Group B before the winter break, our League Cup run unfortunately came to an end at the quarter final stage this season and that was frustrating. We seen off struggler's Puskas Akademia five two on aggregate in the second round before losing to Ajka in the quarters - we drew the away leg one apiece and I shouldn't have been confident because we lost the second leg, at home, five goals to one to confirm our elimination from the competition.

League - Division I

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/6LVSVLIeDuWBxqtzRQh4H7uBfxoTIOnhoW9YnL5s.jpg

I'm pretty happy with how we performaed in the second part of the season as their was a lot more consistency involved, losing just three times in our remaining thirteen fixtures against Videoton, Ujpest and Gyor but the thing that concerned me (slightly) is that only one clean sheet was kept and that was against relegated ZTE.

Good form, was it enough for a European spot come the end of the season?

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/a3VHBUOlkFMH8arSoWFyfnRIBZflVg1CUT2hFvXI.jpg

No, it wasn't good enough unfortunately but maybe it's a blessing in disguise that we didn't qualify for the Europa League this season? I want to try and win some domestic silverware next season and would rather not have the 'distraction' and that's no disrespect to the competition. We ended up finishing the season in fifth place, two places lower than last season and we can't stop shipping goals.

Two solid seasons here. The last one was incredible, and this one was not bad. Hopefully use can use all the new Yens to build something big next season.

The league won't be won for quite a few seasons unfortunately Dan as Videoton have dominated the past few seasons, I'd love to win a cup this season and that has to be the absolute minimum this campaign. The chairman better pump the cash...

Cheers for the comment itchycoo, it's been too good seasons in Division I, I'm gutted we couldn't qualify for Europe but it's time to try and "buy the league" this season.

Vasas - Pre season round-up

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/aFDlbfLQSJYoBbkORTWM28fuuXm86QH61nT6k1y4.png

Last season was another good season for the football club even though we finished two places lower than our first season in Division I and failed to qualify for the Europa League but last season we were taken over by a tycoon and I'm hoping he'll give us a lovely transfer budget so I can qualify for the European competition once again.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/StSMgujaGI7I8w9eh1IyYQ7G3InESrajxha2DDmy.jpg

Wow, talk about a lovely transfer budget I probably won't even put a dent in, ha. The minimum expectation from the brand new board in their first full season in charge as owners is for us to qualify for next seasons Europa League through a league position and we have received a transfer budget of eleven and three quarter million pounds and a brilliant wage budget as well, lets 'splash' the cash.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/UjxLmoxFPImW9nwzJELfW0mEJlzHwRhJn1HE8Osb.jpg

So yeah, I had no problem spending some of the money as nearly five million was spent on bringing players in as thirteen players arrived this summer but I'm not sure on how many will actually be first choice for the club this season.

Van Jacobs, Marcel Holtkamp (after two years on-loan) and Zoltan Maroti arrived from Ujpest while another left back Julien Carre joined from league champions Videoton. Jose Vicente Chueca is a striker who cost two hundred and fifty thousand from Haladas, left winger Mykhaylo Medvedev arrived from Dynamo Kiev. English defender Kyle Warrender came in on a free.

Other signings saw Azamat Nazarenko, Raffaele Calabretta, Maxim Kovalev, Keke Luchford, Alfredo Morena and Kiril Mishev also joined the club this summer.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/aJvHAqDcIy4yvmQWvRJo8cH3QzKfuK5LYNdYarFn.jpg

The major departure this summer was champions Videoton signing Brazilian winger Francisco after they matched his three hundred and twenty five thousand release clause which left me powerless as he also wanted to leave, Zsolt Toth went to LASK Linz for thirty four and a half thousand, Ajka spent £8,500 to sign Olexiy Piskovets and they also signed Marcos Augusto for twenty one thousand while seven players were released and two players (not on the list obviously) retired.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Txp8VXKSGKdLd7dGO8BM2cj7ZgSmOSH10GoLLCxn.jpg

We ended up playing five games this pre season and I couldn't fault with how it went as we remained unbeaten, three wins and two draws including a scoreless draw at home to Galatasary and a four all draw against Dinamo (P) while we beat Postorno, BKV Elore and Baink Ostrava.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/5LSqoStBrhuUskqfPSZr2mioHV6OHWyX2HskJKHX.jpg

This is the last bit of news in this update, I have put pen to paper on a two year contract extension which'll potentially see me remain at the club until the end of June twenty forty seven and I'm pleased to have signed on here as I'd love to win everything at the club before moving on, now, I know sometimes circumstances change but I'd love to remain as I enter my fourth season here at Vasas.
