I'm delighted with the transfer budget Dan and I'm just hoping the signings can gel quickly and we can have another successful season in Division I and maybe, just maybe, win a domestic cup this season.

Cheers for the comment Sean, I've thoroughly enjoyed this career to date and it's (hopefully) nowhere near done.

Vasas - Mid season update 2044/45

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/kDFUqW6vCovURue6qLVycwHBVTkjZpyh1Ps1lKpa.png

After "splashing the cash" in the summer I had every right to feel confident ahead of this season as European competition had to be the absolute minimum from the brand new board and as usual I'm confident I can achieve that but it's going to be tough for sure while I'd love to win a domestic trophy for the first time in three or so seasons.

League Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/zx3kozVIhe4757akb63rgWNkSzhY6zTEezBJoq87.jpg

Don't really know what to say about the group stages of the League Cup other than the fact we stole a place in the second round in which we'll face fellow Division I side Papa. Only two group games were won out of six and they came against Nyiregyhaza and Varda. We'll need to improve if we really want to win this trophy.

Hungarian Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/sUGA7REHsqVrlvj8Ak74Nm8YNAA6l6aiaBbNySSr.jpg

So far it's been plain sailing in the Hungarian Cup as we beat a quartet of lower league sides to book our place in the two legged quarter finals. Ozd were beaten three one in the first round in a repeat of last seasons first round tie while Gyongyoshalasz, Maglod and Soroksar were also beaten in rounds second, third and fourth.

League - Division I:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Fse8z36lVXnJckluMH9hgD9KtNI6EcTLexetVrCA.jpg

I'm pleased with how the first half of the league season has gone as we've only lost four times but we have also drew three times - two of which we should have won and those were against Kecskemet and Ajka and we should have beaten Videoton (led three one before collapsing), we conceded two own goals against the league champions, c'est le vie.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/dXuP3hSYIRLeYw9fBCVABYjKgyt2JHP89v8NLaJk.jpg

So we will be heading into the second half of the season lying in fourth place and nine points behind leaders Ujpest and also in both other domestic competitions, which I'm delighted with but we need to continue and plough on if we're to have another successful season here at Vasas.

Ha Dan, I was hoping I could've got the update out before someone had commented on it but unfortunately you had to ruin that, didn't you? The league was crap though, we were predicted to finish third so I'm a little disappointed with fourth and we couldn't finish any higher.

Vasas - End of season update 2044/45

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/28T8TffB50OGFjLHhCxdmefxldwRPx0JnlET5aIx.png

It's been an enjoyable first half of the campaign as remain strong in all domestic competitions and I'd love to win a cup this campaign as it's now been three seasons since the club won the Division II title and my only trophy (to date) in Hungary. For the first time in quite a while (perhaps this entire career), I have brought in two players this January transfer window in an attempt to strengthen the squad.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ww5LY01Fp1BpTQXP1DGUQL6YAqXzfdUyEnFfVhvY.jpg

I'm pleased to welcome Spanish goalkeeper Javier Castano to the club on a four-year deal, he had played the first half of the campaign at fellow Division I club Debrecen on-loan before I decided to capture him from Greek side Panathinaikos while "returning home" was Brazilian Francisco as I ended his short stay at champions Videoton as I spent eight hundred thousand to sign him, he joined them in the summer but wasn't really playing for them bar an appearance here and there.

League Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/C4ktYchFAgQYMWt0lQKxrAj6Eac7FXpROLUA6y3t.jpg

Time to celebrate! Yes, I have secured my second trophy in Hungarian football after securing the League Cup - beating Gyor by two goals to one in the final but I was surprised to even reach the final as we were dismal in the group stages and also had to defeat Videoton in the quarter finals, we were lucky in some games but I'm chuffed to have secured it. Two down, three more to go.

Hungarian Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/9xoFnI0WeCYfdkVtQJelSmGCawTRSmP9zcuKcsdy.jpg

It would be heartbreak in the Hungarian Cup though as we ended up losing the final five four against Diosgyor despite scoring three goals in the first half but c'est le vie, the trophy will be ours eventually. It's unbelievable we reached the final (just like the League Cup) as we had to come from behind in both second legs against both Nyiregyhaza and Ujpest in the quarter finals and the semi finals before losing the final.

League - Division I:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/tgeOgPuO8Q7mYnpwQqKKYPcyqfNQSpxr28jEGvVf.jpg

Bar a lack of clean sheets (surprise surprise) I couldn't complain at how the second half of the campaign went as just like the first period, we lost just four games but the most annoying one was at home to relegation threatened Honved but I'm putting that down to tiredness despite playing well. European qualification ended up hanging by a thread, could we secure a Europa League spot?

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/N2eMFYRclyfDwOckIBrCVKNPwkCc5e5E928mO3ik.jpg

Phew, we have managed to secure a fourth place finish and that means we'll be in next seasons Europa League and I've more than likely avoided the sack even though I was never under any pressure but I achieved the minimum of what the board wanted and I'm satisfied with that. We're getting closer and closer to the leaders though as we finished only nine points behind champions Diosgyor who ended Videoton's strangle hold on the league.

Interestingly, at the end of the 2044/2045 season its one of the closest times we've had in our trophy race. You are currently on 43 trophies after 32 seasons. I had 41 trophies after 32 seasons.

However I feel you'll prevail again soon as its only a couple seasons until I got two or three seasons without a trophy, I do that twice as well as go on a five season run without a trophy too I think.

However I am still set to be more successful just due to playing so many more seasons that you!

At least it's close in the trophy count Dan but don't forget that you're like thirty odd seasons ahead of me due to the time it actually made me start the career (struggling to get a job, needed to start in a different country and then my laptop breaking), I'd love to try and chalk off Hungary within the next two seasons and preferably with Vasas.

Cheers for the comment Gendo, I've thoroughly enjoyed playing this career and it's the first time in quite a while I've played well into the future. I'm delighted with the League Cup success even if the board didn't consider it 'important' and I needed to get into the Europa League as that was the absolute minimum from the board.

Cheers Johno, t'was awful to lose the final.

Vasas - Pre season round-up

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/d5x3qpOtd8rUeH1cuPZIsk1aJbuFbUqI2hTdzDOC.png

Come the end of last season, we qualified for the Europa League and that was the absolute minimum the board required and I'm hoping this season will be the same as I don't need or want unneeded pressure on the team, it's the second season under the Japanese tycoon and my fifth in charge of Vasas SC and lets hope it's another good season for the club.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/lqrRIySh7MB5IvaQlBBq5ZfGQBl6PSMYxcqbn3Fb.jpg

The minimum expectations remain the same as last season thankfully and the minimum the board want is more Europa League qualification through a league position so anything between second and fourth will need to do and I've received a transfer budget of eighteen and a half million pound but once again I don't know how much of that I'll actually spend.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/fuhXABXsRQRCcwQYwv5fzSvr10ktGiDLEFrV44I1.jpg

Six players arrived through the doors this summer and they will all (more than likely) be squad players as I didn't want to disrupt the squad. Emil Vasilev was our biggest spending of the summer as we spend one point six million to sign him from Wisla while Paul Munteanu, Dario Granaci, Lorenzo Di Santo, Riccardo Pazzaglia and Samy El Yamani also joined the club this summer.

This summer their wasn't any major departures as just players not good enough left the club. Karoly Varga and Istvan Nagy, both centre backs headed to Oroshaza and Ajka respectively while the rest of the departures were free transfers, released or loan deals.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/NzA7rz0rA1joJwoCQIEl1XcnfVsI28KG7AuykBlh.jpg

Just four games were played in pre season and it turns out to be a mixed one as we only won twice out of four games but kept three clean sheets, which was pleasing to say the least. We beat non-league duo Fot and ESMTK seven nil and four nil, drew nil each against Energetyk Burshtyn and then lost to Libourne.

Vasas - Mid-season update 2045/46

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/sf5U7b0rR6FdeASDdM1jcF4N1dF594q1H5tVhFW4.png

We have reached the midway point of the twenty forty five twenty forty six campaign and so far it's been a season to remember as we look to qualify for next seasons Europa League once again through a league position and once again it's going to be tough, don't need to care about the League Cup as we won that last season but I need to try and win the Hungarian Cup this campaign.

Europa League:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/6Uam65oDe4QHbyJln4AjfarEVH7Hr0MUYgtlS6a3.jpg

Our run in this seasons Europa League ended at the third qualifying stage and I'm a little disappointed by that because we had a three one lead against Metalurg heading into the second leg, we lost five one and crashed out. In the other two qualifying rounds we beat Aktobe in the first qualifying round and then in the second qualifying round we demolished Red Star before the exit to the Ukrainian side Metalurg.

League Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/YQM2HM9xFl1gR7yUUJbVqJS6YEk3KwJTDWX6ERrD.jpg

Goals, goals and more goals! That's how the holders win their League Cup group and that's a minimum I expected as it would have been a little lot embarrassing if the holders were knocked out in the group stages, we advanced to the second round as Group G winners and unbeaten.

Hungarian Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/f35lhXkt8eXIUPgG6cA4AWBMAHTQxIPADzURi429.jpg

We still remain in the Hungarian Cup but haven't had an easy route to the quarter finals in which we'll have a two legged affair with Gyor. Things started against lower league side Jaszapati but then we faced Division II side Soproni away from home before the third and fourth round ties saw us face fellow Division I sides Debrecen and Diosgyor, which we both won three two.

League - Division I:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/T3Gquuzmq3Ib6zDiAX3r293Gl0jfJlRF7EtzSjqN.jpg

Now this has been a fantastic first half to the new campaign, even if we have lost three times but we've been scoring goals freely and that's nice to see and we haven't been conceding at an alarming rate and that's much better. Our three league defeats have all been on the road against Ujpest, Dunaujvaros and most recently Videoton.

Six clean sheets have been kept in the league in the opening seventeen games and that's quite a welcome change.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/tW7HJxSkZmEOYEKsdYogN1s4J9dFPVdh0sVzZRNr.jpg

And the side will be heading into the final thirteen league games top of the table and three points clear of second placed Debrecen and I'm chuffed but under no illusions that it's still going to be tough to chalk up the league title as twists and turns are still to be expected.

Vasas - End of season update 2045/46

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/2Hlum6Kb4IxSGbpPyYWoECTEmNOPhFzuzBE0eFOQ.png

The second half of the current campaign is upon us and it's been a good season to date for the football club as we are not only going strong in our retardation in the League Cup but we're also still in the Hungarian Cup and going very strong in Division I as well. I'd love to secure at least one trophy this season but it isn't going to be easy that's for sure.

League Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Y8nzhvkkrPSszsqsbymZ7kEerhlsae92aCm1GYdH.jpg

We came so close to retaining the League Cup that we had won last season, losing to Haladas in the final in which we were outplayed and it ended up being our one and only defeat in the League Cup this season, gutted but I wasn't fussed on winning it as we won it last season.

Hungarian Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xAoT5T3qPeRPQa88jFMrVQ1tYG04tN2kWqypU1uP.jpg

Absolutely gutting. This is a trophy that I really thought we could win this season, even when we needed away goals to beat Gyor in the quarter finals. I was confident we could have beaten Videoton in the final as my record against them isn't too bad, we lost five two though and I was upset but we'll try again next season.

League - Division I:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/IepL7Zyirk15XLlm2GFimzdftfdKwbUlTHBucuJ8.jpg

Our tremendous league season continued after the winter break, losing just the two games in Division I and those were against Debrecen and Gyor, it was nice to end the season with not just back-to-back four nil wins but back-to-back clean sheets as well. Five more clean sheets in the league was also very welcome.

But, was it enough to secure the league title?

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/UWLiqw4ckX0GCqBb8D5EFUtAK4A7nHBP84lzAUAU.jpg

Woo!! Unbelievable. We have wrapped up the Division I title but my word it was tough as we ended up winning the league either on goal difference or the head-to-head record (not sure what they use in Hungary) as we finished level on points with Videoton and we both won our final games four nil. It's tremendous and I'm over the moon.

It was absolutely mental Dan, I'd rather we didn't win it in such dramatic circumstances but I'm also chuffed that it's been chalked off as it's arguably the toughest league to win, or so I've noticed on this career. I'm contemplating on whether to remain at the club for at least one more season or move onto pastures new before returning to Hungary at a later date.

Vasas - Pre season round-up

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/PCHyJIGaRUBBA5pffcSPGMqpIM3fbWSJmki1EaB3.png

Last season was a season to remember for Vasas SC as we secured the Division I title, a title we were in the mix for the past two seasons but we failed in our attempt to retain the League Cup and we also ended up being runners-up in the Hungarian Cup, losing to Videoton. I'm hoping this season is going to another one to remember for the club.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/pASFw9ipnjnZKTOL17hN5bePdUfjwChkmrFakDVc.jpg

Pressure is on now from the get go as the minimum expectation is for the club to remain the Division I title this coming season, something I'm not one hundred percent sure is achievable but we'll sure try. We have a twenty three million pound transfer budget to play with but I don't know whether or not I'm going to spend it.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/aYsBf50dOZW8oW7UMO7XSRXpRH9ttnYXWCSYjAPz.jpg

Conformation that no one has arrived this summer as I couldn't find anyone who was 'good enough' and would improve the team while six players departed the club, five ended up being released when their contracts had expired while striker Zoltan Maroti joined Dunaujvaros for just under twenty five thousand.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xsW4VL8dFzhVuQZ46uBPSlhW38B5w6sohDERZusk.jpg

Pre season was quite successful as the goals flew in after the first game against Banska Bystrica in which we lost two nil but then we beat ESMTK three nil, Ullo ten one and Lamla nine nil but we didn't play any 'big' teams so I can't get carried away and we could struggle in the league, time will tell.

Hungarian Super Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/7CXv1c1EeCz8BOVgxt1iArAcbSdTOghtbghl174K.jpg

I'm pleased to announce that we have secured the Hungarian Super Cup following a two one win over Videoton and that leaves just the Hungarian Cup needed to complete Hungary, goals from Dario Granaci who was linked with a summer move to Celtic and Emil Vasilev secured the trophy.

If I was to take the job, the minimum expectation would be to win the Premier League and they're the current holders.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xBwd0lDLptqL2wVJ1r4itrC16ejKtDA8J526YdhD.png

We have reached the mid-way point of the twenty forty six/twenty forty seven campaign and it hasn't been too bad thus far as we still remain in the League Cup, Hungarian Cup and still looking good in our quest to retain the league title while we also had a promising run in this seasons European competition, better than I had expected while we beat Videoton to win the Super Cup.

Champions League/Europa League:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ZRoLlziSlSeoTucrSGkEKrFT5ZkgxT67IbM9pPe8.jpg

I'm pretty happy with how well we've done in European competition this season as we crashed out of the Europa League at the group stage stages and I can't complain. Our chances in the Champions League ended in the third qualifying round before we took our place in the Europa League in which we secured a brilliant comeback against Russian's Spartak Moscow in the play-off's before taking our place in the group stages but we only won once out of the six games.

League Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/cqfSKqKZ2RJG4YR6ILYv319ezBLcmV5v2cMF9Qxa.jpg

We are still going quite strong in the League Cup as we progressed from the group stages once again, losing just the once from six group games and our reward for progressing is a two legged tie against last season winners Haladas, who, coincidently, beat us in last seasons final four goals to one.

Hungarian Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Jjry5gLdogTMrhaItjpmazebL1UVzUMK7Q5Cilzd.jpg

I don't know how much further we'll be progressing in the Hungarian Cup as we face a two legged quarter final against cup holders Videoton and they beat us in last seasons 'show piece' and this season I'd love to win it but it won't be easy. Our route to the quarters have seen us beat Maglod, MTK, Puskas Akademia and Szigetszentmiklos with three of those games being on the road.

League - Division I

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/UwHBtV7AJxI9MvHKWAHGGj0To5L44u2Mwnf7yYZI.jpg

It's been a tremendous first half of the league campaign as we've been scoring goals freely and long may that continue as we've managed to so far keep six clean sheets and have won one league game six nil, two four nil and three games five nil and that's pretty mental. That single goal home defeat vs. Gyor saw us finish the game with only eight men due to a red card and two further injuries after making three changes. Frustrating.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/QANVEVx4vHnQy3xJaWEkjkpozNiMjXe4LEXeFMMl.jpg

The side will be heading into the second half of the league campaign lying in second place and five points behind Videoton and as annoying as that is, we haven't been that bad (Videoton have been that good) and their only league defeat have came against us. We have won thirteen out of sixteen games, losing three games and thus far we've bagged fifty eight goals and only conceded seventeen.

It's a trophy I need to seriously target this season Dan, we have lost in the last two finals and I'm done with being runners-up but it all depends on who we end up facing in the final, could be someone 'rubbish', could be a 'big' team, who knows?

At the end of the day Gendo, I was pleased with how well we done in Europe this season, it's all about domestic trophies while Europe is an added 'bonus' but isn't really needed.

Vasas - End of season update 2046/47

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/W91Xn1qBJTYAggTN3A2N0UiXfJaSNC3lp870dLpA.png

The second half of the season was upon us and I stated in the 'media' that this would indeed be my final season at Vasas so I'd love to go out on a 'high' and secure that much needed Hungarian Cup trophy while trying to qualify for next seasons Europa League at least, the board expected the league title but I can't see us winning it this season.

League Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/fHWMI51jfQ7ZcGnXVSmKSSh2yuaH6KCaSGNUe4dP.jpg

For the second time at Vasas, I have won the League Cup after demolishing Debrecen in the final five goals to one in a game that'll be remembered for an Emil Vasilev treble. The side had an easy enough route to the final as we knocked out holders Haladas, Honved and Dunaujvaros in the knock-out stages and lost just once in the entire cup run.

Hungarian Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Zvyx2RF3ne3xvxdLJ0Lcnd8SRqm00Jeo2TmWkBul.jpg

I'm absolutely delighted to have finally lift the Hungarian Cup after being runners-up in the past two season as we beat Nyiregyhaza four nil in the show piece but the club couldn't have asked for a tougher run as Videoton and Ujpest had to be beat in the quarter and semi finals respectively.

League - Division I:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/oTRKzGd9p50vtQWDDJNPyRCSAIPxZPgx1OYy6UiM.jpg

I suppose the one word you can use to describe the league form after the winter break is mixed as we struggled to get going, winning just six of our last fourteen league games, the side also drew four and lost just four times as well but we should have turned some of those draws (Ferencvaros etc.) into wins, we ended up well out of the title race but did the club at least qualify for Europe? . . .

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Sh4Ox72ncOpo2tC5UbpOuRUkQs4YcEaEAaLSot3I.jpg

. . . yes they did but just about. Despite winning the league last season we finished a staggering twelve points behind the new champions Videoton who regained their place on the 'throne' as Hungarian champions and they deserved it after only losing three games this season - I'd love to see Vasas win the title next season but I won't be there to try and make that happen.

And just one thing was left to do . . .

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/TT49uYp8hV5U9zuVrEGcwJkkphyc4e21H8oFH1dV.jpg

I have ended my over five year stay at Vasas as I've nothing else to win in Hungarian football and I'm chuffed at what I achieved at the football club and the board were quick to pay tribute to their long-serving manager and they're (apparently) going to celebrate what I had achieved in my five years, two hundred forty forty days (or something like that) at the club. Good luck to whoever takes over, pressure is on for them.

I've been appointed the new manager of Paderborn, penning a three year contract at Benteler Arena and I cannot wait to get started. I've received a transfer budget of two hundred and fifty thousand pound but don't let the one hundred and fifteen thousand wage budget fool you as we're currently over the wage budget and maybe will be for sometime.

You can call me stupid, I don't care but the signing of Luis Carneiro ended up putting us over the wage budget but that's fine. I didn't sign Stefano Rossi and Dieter Behrends as they were signed on pre-contracts before my arrival but I did sign Frank Selbert on a two year loan while Piotr Jablonski, Bigger Masudi and Jacob Havlykke signed on free deals.

I let Tiago Cooper depart the club when his contract had expired, he was on big wages and didn't look good enough, Louis Oppong was another one who departed. Hermann Metzelder headed to Ingolstadt after agreeing a pre-contract while I let Peter Krause and Philipp Vob leave as they wanted to depart, both joined Frankfurt and Hoffenheim respectively, Christian Allgower was our last player to leave, Jena was his destination.

It ended up being a mixed pre season as six games were played and we lost twice, drew twice and won twice. Our two wins came against Delbruck and Hovelhof, the two defeats were against Nurnberg and Berlin-Kopenick and the two draws came against Spakenburg and Bautzen.

Yeah I'm surprised we couldn't do any better in the league Dan and I can't explain why we struggled as reigning champions but alas we did. I was chuffed to have secured the 'much needed' Hungarian Cup and as for the League Cup, meh I wasn't fussed but pleased enough I won that trophy for the second time. Cheers, I hope to have a long career at Paderborn.

Paderborn - 5 October 2047

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/jOGmOwDu4O4AkREITWFGmN5CU8wVwTmgECAvnNO0.png

When I arrived at Paderborn I had prepared myself for a long spell here at the German side and expected myself to do well and secure at least the minimum of the play-off spot, which was our media expectation but unfortunately circumstances changed and I didn't realise I had a bunch of babies at this club.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/X7ilYSlP6VSEhaIdEp3EtuAyucFXH5JB7d251eCI.jpg

"Failure to improve the squad harmony" was the pathetic reason and didn't even give me a proper chance to try and sort things out. One hundred and twenty two days I had spent at Paderborn before the undeserved (in my opinion, the important one) sacking but that's fine because I'm an adult and I'll dust myself off and prepare for my next job, whenever that'll be.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/HCe3K13cshrYLABi8UyAEQFIBKOwsA1SLgwzEisj.jpg

As you can see, the form wasn't that bad when we played football but we just couldn't stop drawing game and that frustrated me to an extent, just four wins from my twelve league games in charge, two defeats but six draws and that's not too bad while we didn't last long in the German Cup, losing to Braunschweig.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/AKrMEjyIG6R9cLX4ZWlY7XS5cDOCjnWC9dArxONd.jpg

I've left the side lying in ninth place and it should have been much if we had turned some of those six draws into wins but I would never have lasted as the majority of the squad were whining idiots, complaining about the squad harmony when they should have concentrated on winning games but c'est le vie.

Just had a read through this mate, really enjoyed reading about your stints in Scotland and particularly with Rangers! Unlucky with Paderborn.

I've always enjoyed managing Rangers ChrissBurns1993 but unfortunately in this career there isn't much time for loyalty (check out my Rangers career in the HoF if you've time), I still need to return to Scotland to secure the League One title. Can't believe I was sacked at Paderborn, such a lame reason as well.

Thirty years on . . . I have returned to Norwegian football

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/dtW8HxTeA3ty7VIuVqTmQ5yryA5kA5gYyD6Qqnep.png

Following my 'disgraceful' sacking at Paderborn due to squad harmony issues, I didn't want to go home and feel sorry for myself, no, instead I looked to make an immediate return to football management and after spending thirty years (and three days) away from the country after I resigned as manager of Kristiansund, I have made a return to manage in Norway a better manager, or so I believe.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/1DJsVkuzGjoifHSBxcU3X1pkoVkolDkwu3dNB0Pq.jpg

I've been appointed manager of first division club Odd who sacked their previous manager after failing to win promotion to the top flight so the pressure is on me from the beginning but that's fine because I thrive (usually) on pressure. The board have given me a transfer budget of three and a half million pound and I've signed a two year deal at Skagerak Arena.

To be offered the job I had to agree that I would "develop players using the club's youth system".

Unfortunately so Dan, lack of squad harmony was the reason given but c'est le vie. It's been a long time since I've managed in Norway as you could have probably twigged but I'm eager to get started.

Odd - pre season round-up

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/dmnZtH89yBSp35Mg8nXEMl92SVSjFt9VyRig9Ik4.png

Unfortunately my stint at German Third Division club Paderborn came to an abrupt end as a 'failure to improve squad harmony' or something like that led to my departure after around one hundred days and I'm still quite annoyed at that but I moved on and within a month I took over the reigns at Norwegian First Division club Odd, a club who finished seventh last season and ultimately sacked their manager.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/toK1TIXxRhcPKYvv2jkCOUy2XzrsJ8bYJCA0LEnd.jpg

It turned out to be a busy summer at Odd as I brought in no more than nine players and around three strikers as only two were currently on the books and those strikers were Daniele Batani who joined on a free, Mads Ingebretsen who cost eleven and a half thousand from Fredrikstad and Kim Andre Nordseth who arrived at the club from Honefoss for twenty four and a half thousand. Other arrivals saw Jonas Pedersen come in from Lyn, Mamadoi Diakhate from Diambars, Elvind Sandberg joined from Stabaek, Jarle Jensen from Ull/Kisa and Silvano Montesi from Modena.

There was only two major departures this summer - Jose Maria headed to Hungarian champions Videoton for half a million pound and Luis Gonzalez went to Korsvoll for a quarter of a million while the other eight players were released when their contracts had expired.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/fqJrGROP09nrLytMHWiOHwCQOxPE6iociNngkFX9.jpg

Couldn't complain at how the friendlies went in pre season as we ended up playing seven games and losing just the once against Mariehamn, winning the other six including a four three win against top flight side Stabaek - the most pleasing thing is, although they weren't "strong" opposition was the five clean sheets but I know it's going to be tough when the league campaign begins.

Odd - Mid-season update 2048

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8XZO81vKhKQDmQTLwpRMxEuXYpOOy32bprzVhTtJ.png

We have reached the middle of the season on my return to Norway and it's been a mixed campaign to date but I can't overly complain I suppose, unless this season ends in a complete failure, then I can complain. The side are predicted to finish third and secure a play-off spot and I'm sure that's achievable while they're also expected to reach the third round in the Norwegian Cup.

Norwegian Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/JBdDU7t4iMeO9hxWWhoT4BXpFMXa9gUnWSHggaqK.jpg

I'm delighted that we have exceeded the boards expectation in this competition, reaching the quarter finals but can't see us progressing any further as we'll be playing top flight side Rosenborg but they're currently struggling in the league, we would have had more of a chance if we were at home but c'est le vie. Just hope we don't get embarrassed.

League - First Division

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/b72LfWBwEA1ivL30aWUUeCfNBuhaAy3UY2C3QBuA.jpg

To say it's been a mixed first half of the league season is an understatement but we made a great start to the league, winning our opening three games. We've suffered defeats to Kvik Halden (we dominated, can't believe we lost that one), Start (as expected), Honefoss (no shots on target) and Fram Larvik while we drew our last two games against bottom club Notodden and Alta but we dominated both games. Frustrating stuff, we need to learn to take chances.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Y5Y6Eg07sc9TZPCZdMNrNbQ8Vvsk759pqp0MGEp3.jpg

We will be heading into our final fourteen league games with the club in fourth place and only six points behind the leaders Bodo/Glimt and if we can find more consistency then we've got a great chance of securing the league title or at least, a place in the play-off's while if we finish seventh then I can me myself getting the chop but I hope it doesn't come to that.

See your tactic that you play, 4-2-3-1 I believe? Could I ask what team instructions you use and if you change it up against 'big' teams?

I'm hoping you're correct chum Dan chum as I'd love to seal a promotion spot come the end of the campaign or I'd end up risking the sack if we fail promotion.

It's possible ChrissBurns1993 but it's going to be also difficult but we'll see what happens. You might not believe it but I actually haven't used any team instructions this season but yet we're producing results on the field and that's lovely and nope, I'll always play an attacking 4231 formation, don't change it.

Odd - End of season update 2048

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/eMinPkXJaL5g94vxmU7ZceyqGRZt6C2qKqLyITLj.png

It's been a solid enough start on my return to Norwegian football after a thirty year absence and I'm pleased with how we've been performing but of course I still think we can do better in the league and we've got fourteen league games remaining in an attempt to secure at least secure a play-off spot while I can't see us going much further in the Norwegian Cup but stranger things have happened in football.

Norwegian Cup:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/fY6CtC8x5wr6AKBg0WJyGgMa9bo1KO5AWmp3EsZW.jpg

As expected our chances in the Norwegian Cup ended at the quarter final stages after a seven three defeat after extra time away to Rosenborg which annoyed me slightly as I didn't think we would have got mauled in the game, Junior Okoronkwo scored twice while Andor Reinhardsen also scored but we conceded seven times unfortunately.

League - First Division:

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/yn5Hz6tL6bmitLXkDfFntty6bhsifd1sXAIQO54U.jpg

Wow, just wow. That was an absolute fantastic second half of the campaign as we didn't lose a single game and in fact only dropped points in two games (vs. Honefoss and most annoying, bottom club Notodden), we also managed to have seven clean sheets which I thought was excellent and I know next season is going to be much difficult, guaranteed.

This is how the season has ended up and we have been crowned champions and I'm pleased as a fantastic second half of the campaign was enough to see us end up ten points clear of runners-up Honefoss who join us in the top flight while Floy, Bodo/Glimt, Start and Raufoss have secured a play-off spot. I don't know what to expect next season.
