The problem is who as much as anything.

Rooney will be first choice and play every game when fit and we've long since suffered from having to shoe-horn two strikers into the side because of the quality of the strikers we have.

Thats not a problem for next season and whilst (particularly if we sell Hernandez) we'd need someone to step up if and when Rooney gets injured I just don't think its a huge necessity and would like to see Wilson given more of a chance if possible.

I just really hope we're not tempted to spend stupid money on someone like Cavani, Kane or Lacazette. We don't need another first choice striker right now.

We're in danger of undoing our 1 piece of good work this window is we let Schniderlin go to United, FFS.

Probably famous last words, but it doesn't look like you've ever really been in the running. We wouldn't be fannying around over a few million if we weren't certain he didn't want to go elsewhere.

Auclair said that Schneiderlin would prefer a move to Arsenal, but obviously we don't seem to be interested at all. Wenger's gotta Wenger.

Pretty much all I've read has said he's told his team-mates he wants to join United, he's told us he wants to join and Southampton are expecting him to leave for United. I've seen that from both United and Southampton journalists so unless no one knows anything and they're just parroting each other (more than likely!) they're probably hearing that from independent sources. That would also explain why you're not 'interested' because clubs just don't bid for players unless they think they'll sign in reality.

We'll probably balls it up, we might even have lost interest when Schweinsteiger became available, but I don't think its a deal we're at all worried about as a club.

In other news Sky Sports reckon you want Jonny Evans, which is pretty hilarious.

Well we haven't signed our true reject of the Summer yet, so it could happen. In all seriousness I can't believe people actually trust Sky as a source. They spout as much shite as the red tops perhaps even worse. There's no way we'd be in for Evans, our CB situation is fine for the season.

Lindegaard in goal for us next season? We better get Lloris in or something.

Piss off. Hoping Levy does what he did with Modric in 2011 and basically forces him to stay.

Really think fans are only excited about the Schweinsteiger deal because of who he is, rather than thinking how he'll have any real impact on the team. Which i honestly feel he will not, can see him struggling and being another Falcao.

I don't think that's the case. There's no denying that it'd be better if we bought him three years ago, but he's going to add so much to our midfield. A great winning mentality, a good relationship with Van Gaal and plenty of experience. He's not going to play every match but he's the sort of player/personality we need in the midfield.

Admittedly I still want us to get Schneiderlin too, then I'll be very happy with the midfield, both players would add a lot.

A big difference between Falcao and Schweinsteiger is that Falcao had only just returned from a very bad injury and had no pre season with us. Schweinsteiger has had an injury hit season but nowhere nearly as bad as Falcao. And he can't be as bad as Hargreaves.

As much as I am loathe to say it, I am liking the side being assembled at OT. Especially is Schneiderlin does join. Somehow keep hold of De Gea and get in a decent centreback!

----------------------------Rooney------------------------------

----------------Di Maria------------- Mata--------------------

------Herrera------- Schweinsteiger ------ Carrick/Schneiderlin

Shaw--------Rojo ------------Smalling/Otamendi------Darmian

------------------De Gea/Valdes/Lloris----------------

Anything along those lines would probably be the perfect scenario, whether that would happen or not is another thing. As for Schweinsteiger he won't play every game, especially with his injury record but overall he is a great buy for his experience and mentality. A centre back is a must as is a proper back-up to Rooney. He has a spell out pretty much every season and it would be so much pressure on Wilson.

SSN now reporting that Liverpool and Man City have agreed a fee for Sterling. £49m plus add-ons. Let's see how right they are!

Love the suggestions that he's moving purely for the money.

Man city are far superior to Liverpool.

His valuation by a transfer website was recently around £35million. With a British premium, 49 seems right, but it still seems ridiculous.

Maybe he'll actually give a shit now he's moved.

I think it's a good deal for all parties too. Liverpool get another £50m to spunk on shite, City get a 20 year old wonderkid who will be worth that much in a few years regardless.

£49m for a very good prospect but one who hasn't been tested on the biggest stages (WC and CL knockout stages etc) is never okay in my book.

Other countries really must wonder why our players are so overpriced, especially when the national team is dire.

I doubt it, it's pretty obvious why they are over-priced. A combination of home-grown quotas, a relatively small supply of good players meeting those quotas and a ludicrous TV deal (plus, in my opinion, a footballing culture with more emphasis on improvement through transfers than coaching).

There's no doubt that Sterling is an exciting player and has huge potential, but £49M - way too much.

Good business from Liverpool, despite acting with incredible hypocrisy throughout the saga. Sterling gets a chance to fulfil his ambitions, however he needs to sort his attitude out, his behaviour has been poor.

This season is going to be a big test for him, a lot of expectation plus he's going to get a lot of shit from fans. It'll be interesting to see how he copes with the pressure.
