Number 1
Considering how abominable our defending was at Swansea last week, and indeed we've only kept 3 clean-sheets since November, it makes a genuinely nice change to see us keep a clean sheet and produce a rather decent defensive showing. Sure, Anita and Colback were invisible for long periods, but it was a decent showing nevertheless.
Hopefully its a sign the first win isn't too far away.

Put it this way, we'll play far, far worse than that and win 2 or 3 nil this season. We've already played worse than that twice and won them both already.
The result was disappointing, obviously, but we were fine just didn't have the luck.

I also can't help but wonder why the standard of corners and crossing was as sub-par as it was. In terms of both teams, the corner taking was largely shit, and there were lots of terrible crosses too.

We did, yeah.
Still had at least 6 very, very good chance including that incorrectly disallowed goal. I don't think we were brilliant, but on another day we'd have won comfortably. It happens.
Also going by how much Poe moans about him Coloccini had a very out of character stormer.

Was like a return to 2012 Coloccini, what a guy 2012 Coloccini was.
Hopefully he keeps it up.

My point was more that it was a decision that went against us that on another day easily could have for us.
He looked onside from the replay I saw at half time, but when they're that close you can't massively complain whichever way it goes.

I'm struggling to think of 6 chances
Thought Man Utd played alright, but can't really do much against a well organised defence with numbers. Fellaini probably could have made a big difference. Depay seems massively overhyped, Mata, Rooney and Scweinsteiger look old, and I really don't see what anyone sees in Januzaj.
Thought Newcastle got them self sorted after a horrible start and hopefully will be a big boost. It feel like that performance will be more important than the point. Hopefully.

Really?

It'd be awkward if West Ham's 1st match in the Olympic Stadium was in the Championship.
And glorious.

I gave him one last chance today too, but yeah, might be time to take him out.

Rooney offside goal, Hernandez save, Smalling hit post/cleared off line, Valencia shot blocked by Coloccini's backside, Memphis 1 on 1 where he rounded the keeper. Shaw chance from edge of the area, Carrick chance at the end.
Well theres 7 for you. As you say though, you did defend well and quite a lot of our perceived lack of end product was actually just good defending. In particular I think we crossed the ball more than I've ever seen us do under LVG (I can't remember exactly what they said but the BT commentators did mention you've struggled to defend crosses so far this season) so we were definitely looking to exploit that, but you defended really well.
I agree with you on Memphis to an extent, he's a fantastic talent but still very raw. It's clear he's got an extreme amount of talent, but by the very nature of where he is in his career he's bound to be inconsistent. I fear too much is expected of him, mostly by the fans but a bit by the manger too if he's viewed as a ready made Di Maria replacement.

It's not a criticism of Depay.
He's just seems to be anointed Man Utd's best player and one of the stars of the PL, when at the minute he just doesn't look that good. Not a lot of players are at 21.
Sam
I do see your point, it's a bit early to claim such things. But he looks like he's going to be an amazing player for us and the PL once he settles in.
West Ham - Bournemouth has to be the first match on MOTD.

Not that I want him to go, but if Man Utd come in with a stupidly high amount then yeah, sell him. I highly doubt he'll get 30+ goals again, he is good, but not as good as many people are making him out to be.
Ninja
It's not that, he was shit under Moyes as a striker and shit in Fergie's last year as well. Suggestions that his less than professional off pitch lifestyle might be catching up with him.
Tbh, even when he was frequently scoring goals it was often remarked upon how poor his all round game had gotten. If you remember back to the Moyes era his decision to renew Rooney's contract was hugely divisive.
If we are going to splash stupid money on an English forward, I think I'd prefer Berahino to Kane tbh.
Sam
No idea who we would get in though.
Based Jorge
It's not just the last Fergie years etc, he was pretty much second fiddle for a long time. The one season where he was the main man he got like 27 league goals. Never got near that total with CR7 & van Persie where in the side

Nah, instead focused on how playing a shite Sunderland team is the hardest challenge in the League.

Been the much better team so far, Rondon looks a handful.
