We are relying on our youngsters right now. It's worrying.
That being said watching Martial is a delight. A real gem.
Ninja
Nah it was his choice:
I think he's since said he was disappointed Adnan chose Dortmund, but it was LVG's decision to let him go.

The money spent arguments possibly the stupidest one thrown at LVG. If he'd bought a load of duds, then fine. But he hasn't.

So, it's an okay ruler to use towards other managers. But, when it's aimed at LVG or Man Utd, it's unfair? Glad we've got that cleared up.
Maybe we'll just focus on his inept management instead and how the only movement the club has made is lateral, heavy investment aside. His only saving grace is that they're still somehow 4th in the league because no one's been able to break away and avoid dropping points themselves. That somewhat spares his blushes and probably keeps him in a job, for now.

No its just an abundantly stupid point to make.
There's plenty of things to criticise him for legitimately. But the quality of players he's bought is low down on that list. No manager has a 100% record, but we've generally bought well under him. You can argue that we haven't bought enough, that we haven't sold particularly well. But we've bought well in terms of who we've got in.
bluemoon.
I don't think anybody's trying to argue against that point. Just that he hasn't got enough out of his players.
Sam
In regards to money spent by LvG it's £129M net. Obviously a lot but still not as bad as people keep saying. And as Ninja says it's a stupid point to make.
Edit: And yeah he does need to get more out of his players. Really hoping things pick up soon asap, a few players should be back before Christmas. Despite things being bad the criticism of LvG has been way over the top.

I'm not saying it was a bad decision in isolation, but allowing Falcao, RVP, Di Maria, Welbeck, Keane, Hernandez, Kagawa, Nani, Henrique, Wilson, Zaha and Januzaj all leave - And replacing them with Martial and Depay - two young players. LvG doesn't seem that eager to use Lingaard, Powell or Perreira either.
Coupled in with LvG will seen Rooney's pre-season, and will have decided he didn't want to play Wilson. You could argue Martial playing out of his skin early doors has kept Man Utd from crisis
Ninja
That's quite a weird list. Of players that wouldn't make a difference whether they were here or not (Keane, Henriquez, Wilson, Zaha, Falcao) and players that left an awful long time ago (Kagawa, Welbeck) and he's absolutely eager to use Lingard (I assume you mean him rather than Lindergaard, who left this summer) who's started in our last 10-11 games (apart from Leicester away when he was injured), Powell (who's had a very long term injury) and Pereira.
The one thing you can't blame LVG for is not giving kids chances, he's done it all season with all players. Could Wilson be here and provide cover? Yeah, but its definitely better for him to be playing and scoring and we've got a recall clause on that one. Should we have replaced the players that left? Of course, but I can understand the club wanting the right player rather than any one and not buying if that person/people wasn't/weren't available. What we were looking for, though, beyond a big name, is anyones guess.
Absolutely, but he should be getting more out of his players, full stop. Not just the ones he's spent money on. I think from an outside perspective we've put together the best squad we've had for a while, and I include Fergie's last title winning team in that too, and just need a few players to finish it off. In that sense, I'm happy with what he's spent, and don't think its money wasted (unlike £28m on Fellaini for example), in that sense I can see the progression, and the next manger shouldn't need to come in and rip everything up and start again.
I still think LVG's done the basic remits of his job very well, I'm no longer sure he's got the ability to lead us to the next stage (i.e. challenging for the title) but he's stabilised the club and put us back on the right track. Could he have done it better and faster? Maybe, but hopefully its done.

For a side going into the season aiming to be fighting on three fronts until January - Rooney/Mata/Martial/Mephis/Young is nowhere near enough as senior players.
It's fair enough offloading the young players if they're not good enough or ready. But they needed some bodies in to replace them. And I'm not really buying Lingard, Pereira and Powell were part of the plan. He debuted Lingard on the opening day of last season and then loaned him out - He's almost 23 - and I don't know if he;s been injured but only turned up in October this season. Likewise Powell and Pereira have had very limited pitch time so far.
And aside from McNair (and maybe Lingard) - Blackett has probably gotten the most minutes of any of the new younger players - and then he's gotten rid of.
The squad building just seems wrong.
Ninja
Well he's on record saying he's trimmed the squad precisely so the young players got a chance. So why it might not have been a plan for Lingard specifically, it was obvious he'd be a beneficiary from it. And its Powell thats been injured. Tbh, I have no idea why he's playing him now, either, he said about a week ago he's nowhere near fit and now he's throwing him on in games. Screams of desperation.
Lingard's an odd one, but he's breaking onto the scene when he was expected to, quotes from last year:
I think the feeling at the club is his body type meant he'd develop later, I don't think anyone expected him to start this much, but he's been reasonably impressive and earned his place. Helped by the fact Young's out of favour for something or other.
And Blackett's shite, he was shite last year, and he's on loan at Celtic being shite, too. He'll move down to the Championship next season if he's lucky.
I agree, in that he's cut too much too fast, but I think the actual plan is solid. Its just, rather typically, a strict dogmatic adherence to the greater plan. If you're not good enough to fit the philosophy (Hernandez, Nani etc...) you're out. Whereas the sensible solution would have been to keep them around until that right player is available.
And the greater irony is that of all the players we've let go we still have to put up with Young, Valencia, Fellaini, and Rooney.

We've not been as bad as I feared we would be tbf, but its not been the most productive performance.

At 70 I was so confident it would remain 1-0 or possibly see Spurs nab 2. Maybe I was right to feel a tiny bit confident we could take a reward from this one.

Imagine if Rodgers did that, but as its Klopp it's acceptable.
Embarrassing.

We do it all the time, nothing unusual about that.
Seeing more and more 'supporters' on FB saying things like 'at least we will win a game or two in the Championship' No way in hell this current squad is good enough to come back up automatically. The morale of the club is just at rock bottom.
