Adam Boyd Appointed First Team Manager Of Hartlepool United

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/iyQ05cJKcj7xAQYw7q2rYKt7FDF1s7O1cyC4ehy6.png

Former Hartlepool United striker Adam Boyd has been named the club's new first team manager replacing Ronnie Moore. Adam Boyd previously played for the club from the years of 1999-2005 followed by another stint at the club from 2009-2012. The former striker managed 74 goals for the club in his time and this position is his first role as a manager after finishing his playing career two seasons ago.

Hartlepool narrowly escaped relegation last season, finishing one place above the drop zone and it is seen by many as a major gamble to appoint Boyd, especially as he has no previous coaching experience. However, former Hartlepool midfielder and record appearance holder Ritchie Humphreys believes Boyd can be a success. "He knows the club inside out and I believe Boydy can definitely do a job at Hartlepool. Yes, it's going to be tough for him as Ronnie Moore did a great job to keep Hartlepool in the Football League last season but I think he'll be okay."

Boyd, 33, becomes one of the youngest managers in the Football League. It has not been announced who will be Boyd's assistant and that is expected to be decided over the following days. In just over a month's time Hartlepool face Morecambe at Victoria Park in which will be Boyd's first match in the managerial hotseat. Hartlepool are deemed as strong favourites for relegation in the upcoming season and it is still unsure whether Boyd will be given any money to strengthen the squad. Boyd released a short statement stating he 'is delighted to be taking over as the first team manager at Hartlepool' and will hold a full press conference with the media nearer to the start of the season.

Sam Collins To Continue As Assistant Manager

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/7d45BcvVkfAZKfwAUYKGZqLhdE8oc7fb07n4kN4t.png

Hartlepool United Defender Sam Colllins will continue in his role as Player/Assistant Manager after the arrivial of new first team manager Adam Boyd. Collins was originally assistant manager under previous manager Ronnue Moore and it was undecided whether Boyd would look to bring in his own assistant instead. However, Collins, 38 has agreed a one-year contract at the club.

Adam Boyd had this to say regarding the renewal of Collins' contract: "I am delighted to announce that Sam Collins has agreed to continue as Assistant Manager at the club and I can not wait to start working with him. He is a young and ambitious coach and I believe we can be very successful here. Sam will continue his duties as a player and will be played if needed however I am hoping that won't need to happen."

Boyd has yet to dip into the transfer market yet and is still undecided whether any players will be brought in. It was rumoured that former Hull City striker Dele Adebola was on the verge of signing a one-year deal with the club however Boyd pulled the plug at the last minute. Former Newport County striker Rene Howe is thought to be in talks with the club however Boyd refused to comment on any transfer speculation.

Pelly Ruddock Joins Hartlepool On Loan Until The End Of The Season

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ui61tHD42MoWk7CrDgOutRGtaDa6pqlKpdWfcyCp.png

Luton Town centre midfielder Pelly Ruddock has joined fellow League Two side Hartlepool on a loan deal until the end of the season. The former West Ham youngster becomes Adam Boyd's first signing as Hartlepool manager after only two weeks in the job.

Ruddock started off his career at Boreham Wood before moving to Premier League side West Ham United. However, Ruddock didn't make the grade and was bought for an undisclosed fee by Luton two seasons ago. In his first season at the club Ruddock was instrumental at Luton were crowned champions of the Conference. However, Ruddock only made 17 appearances last season for Luton in League Two and has been allowed to leave the club. It is thought that Ruddock can be purchased at any time by Hartlepool for £10k.

Ruddock could not hide his happiness to have joined Adam Boyd's side."I'm over the moon to be here to be honest. My season at Luton last season wasn't the greatest and I'm delighted to be given this opportunity in the Football League. I am looking forward to joining up with the lads and hopefully I will be in the starting eleven when we start off the season against Morecambe." Hartlepool kick off their season in just over two weeks time at home against Morecambe. Hartlepool are also thought to be in talks with Bishops Stortford midfielder Christian Smith who is expected to join the side over the next few days.

It's a derby game for us and we're not expected to have any chance so in all honesty, the pressure is all on them. We have a few league games before then but yeah, this is definitely one I am looking forward to."

Scott Fenwick scored a brilliant first half volley to grab Adam Boyd his first league win as Hartlepool manager.

Micheal Duckworth's free kick was fantastically converted by Fenwick early in the first half which was his second goal of the season. York rarely threatened the Hartlepool goal and in the end, Hartlepool deserved their win. However, the game ended on a sour note for Fenwick as he was ruled off near the end of the game with a chest injury. Hartlepool travel to Newport County in their next league game.

Hartlepool To Face Championship Side Leeds United In Capital Cup Third Round

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/QU4Ac1KfQtKu9f6lJU1ccOkT5GgdRhEkW5fRZzcf.png

Hartlepool United have been drawn an away tie against Championship side Leeds United in the Third Round of the Capital One Cup. Hartlepool are currently unbeaten this season and have beaten League One side Rochdale and also Premier League side Sunderland to get to this stage.

Hartlepool manager Adam Boyd could not hide his delight after his side's shock win against Sunderland last night. "It was an absolutely brilliant night and one that I won't forget for a very long time. It's been a great start for me as a manager but I won't get ahead of myself. The players have to take a lot of the credit as they've done everything I've asked. We have Leeds in the next round and again, we are underdogs so once again, all the pressure is on them."

Hartlepool are currently sitting in 5th position in League Two whereas Leeds are currently bottom of the Championship table.

Carlisle United beat Hartlepool in a close encounter to condemn Adam Boyd to his first loss as Hartlepool manager.

Hartlepool only managed one shot on goal in the match however in a very scrappy game, a draw was probably a fair result. Kevin Osei scored the only goal of the game with he cooly dinked the ball over Trevor Carson in the Hartlepool game after breaking through the Hartlepool defence. Hartlepool travel to Wycombe next however before that, it will interesting to see whether Adam Boyd will add to his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/34MZot8Qp15hREIMeoTOo2mgq18Cc27NXNOGVbAf.png

Hartlepool United have signed former Havant and Waterlooville midfielder Nigel Atangana from fellow League Two side Portsmouth. Atangana, who can play in either centre midfield, or behind the strikers has joined Adam Boyd's side for a rumoured £50k. However, it is unsure whether this fee will be paid upfront or over monthly instalments.

Nigel Atangana, 25 made thirty appearances last season for Portsmouth however was placed on the transfer list at the start of this season. It was rumoured that Atangana was a transfer target for Adam Boyd however he wasn't happy with the financial package on the table. Atangana stated he was happy that the transfer has finally been agreed. "I'm delighted to be joining the club. Portsmouth were brilliant for me but the gaffer there wasn't keen on me this season. I knew of Hartlepool's interest for a while and I'm glad it's finally been all sorted.

Adam Boyd has revealed that there may be one more transfer before the deadline window shuts tomorrow at 6pm. However the Hartlepool manager would not disclose who the player may be.

Hartlepool Swoop For The 'Turkish Messi'

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/xAKhHnj5fTvb38LalPaOcwAYlvWKSUmAYa7l0yVA.png

Hartlepool United have completed the signing of Erhun Oztumer from League One side Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee. The man dubbed 'The Turkish Messi' by many fans at Peterborough has signed a two-year deal at Hartlepool after a fee was agreed late last night. Oztumer has been described as the 'perfect number 10' by his new manager Adam Boyd.

Erhun Oztumer joins Peterborough last season for a rumoured fee of £50k from non-league side Dulwich Hamlet and featured twenty times last season. However, Oztumer has found himself out of favour this season and has been allowed to leave the club. Oztumer managed fourty-seven goals in two seasons at Dulwich and Hamlet and Hartlepool manager Adam Boyd could not hide his delight at purchasing the 'Turkish Messi'. "I can't believe Peterborough have let him go to be honest. He is one of kind and is a very technically gifted player so I am delighted to bring him to club. He may take a while to adapt but I am sure he will be a success here".

Erhun Oztumer was Hartlepool's final signing of the August transfer window. Nigel Atangana joined the club yesterday from fellow League Two side Portsmouth whilst Christian Smith and Pelly Ruddock joined before the season started from Bishops Stortford and Luton Town respectively.

Paynter Ruled Out For Five Weeks

http://i.imgur.com/aDHrwVk.png

Hartlepool United striker Billy Paynter has been ruled out for five weeks after straining his back in training. Paynter has only managed to one goal this season which came against Premier League side Sunderland in the side's Capital One Cup Second Round victory.

Billy Paynter has found first team opportunities hard to come by since his move from Carlisle in the Summer so the injury will come as a disappointment to the former Swindon forward. However, some good news for Hartlepool is the news that Scott Fenwick has returned to full training after his injury picked up against York City. Fenwick managed two goals in his first three matches and will be looking to get back into the first team picture.

Vice Captain Worley Ruled Out For A Month

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/73avIwIyCGcVn8Y28pJwg5Gte9gR1GawCs5U58Ed.png

Hartlepool United defender Harry Worley has been ruled out for up to a month after sustaining a chest injury while lifting weights in training. Worley has been ever present in the side so far this season since his move from Stevenage before current manager Adam Boyd joined the club.

Harry Worley has been in impressive form this season in Adam Boyd's back five formation and the injury may see assistant manager Sam Collins take his place in the starting eleven. However, Club Captain Carl Magnay who has been playing in centre midfield this season may return to centre back as it is his natural position. In other news, centre midfielder Michael Woods has joined Conference side Grimsby on loan for one month. Woods featured heavily last season but has only managed one substitute appearance so far this term.

Scott Harrison Joins The Growing Hartlepool Injury List

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/AtocEVHNnLeRRPSQXiJIUef5QxJWPs5qXqHALtBx.png

Hartlepool United defender Scott Harrison has been ruled out for any time up to six weeks after damaging his shoulder in yesterdays defeat against Exeter. To add insult to injury, Harrison played through his injury yesterday as Hartlepool were out of substitutions, a decision which looks to have extended his spell on the sidelines.

Scott Harrison had been ever present this season and joins fellow centre back Harry Worley on the injury table. Young centre midfielder Brad Walker also picked up an injury against Exeter in the form of a face injury and will have to wear a protective mask in the sides next game against Cambridge United. Adam Boyd will have to hope that no more of his players pick up any injuries soon. Assistant Manager Sam Collins is expected to replace Harrison in the starting eleven with Carl Magnay also moving back to the centre of defence to replace Harry Worley.

Boyd Backs Bingham To Shine

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/8OSZC15dGz64LqspaWDjPZExE0CLAvONoZvFG3Mk.png

Hartlepool United manager Adam Boyd has backed faltering striker Raskish Bingham to find his form after failing to score in the last eight matches. Bingham was subject of abuse from the Hartlepool supporters against Exeter however Boyd has pleaded for fans to stick by their striker.

Bingham managed his only goal of the season in the first match of the season against Morecambe but has failed to score since. Boyd however sympathised with the 21-year old: "Yes, he's not scored as many goals as we would of liked but I am sure the goals will come for him. You saw with his goal against Morecambe that he has the quality, I just don't think anybody played well against Exeter. The fans need to get behind the lad and I'm sure he will come good."

Bingham spent time on loan at the club last season from Wigan Athletic and managed one goal in five appearances. His contract was made permanent by former manager Ronnie Moore before Adam Boyd joined the the club at the start of this season.

Hartlepool United midfielder Nicky Featherstone has stated that he is disappointed with his lack of playing time so far this season but is determined to fight his way into Adam Boyd's side. The former Hull midfielder has only made two appearances so far this season, with those two appearances coming off the bench.

Featherstone said "Of course I would like to be playing more than I am. I have been on the bench too much this season and if it stays this way then unfortunately I may need to move on. I am not in the gaffer's mind at the moment but I will be trying to hardest to make sure that I work my way into that starting eleven." In other news, Conference side Stockport County have had a loan move rejected for Hartlepool defender Matthew Bates. Bates has been ever present in the Hartlepool side so far this season.

Hartlepool's dream cup run came to an end tonight despite a valiant display against League Two side Hartepool. Goals from former Motherwell striker Lee Erwin and Tom Adeyemi condemned Hartlepool to defeat to knock the league minnows out of the Capital One Cup.

Hartlepool had knocked out League One's Rochdale and the Premier League's Sunderland before the game tonight but came unstuck against Steve Evans' side. Scott Fenwick grabbed a deserved equaliser just before half time but Leeds' class shone in the second half as they did just about enough to progress. Hartlepool face Yeovil next away in the league on Saturday.
