Bottom of the table clash, real six pointer which we came away with all three points in a more than dominant four nil win, even playing forty two minutes with ten men. Smith struck first. Lavery netted twice and Morris also grabbed one in the win.
We gave Cowdenbeath a game here, a seven goal thriller where we narrowly lost out four three. We came back from three one down to draw level at three a piece with Cowdenbeath by the sixty seventh minute. Lavery struck a superb hatrick. However seventeen minutes from time the host stole the points.
And so thats my first three months up this season in charge of Berwick for our second season. This year we're battling against the drop in League One and haven't got off to the greatest starts to date, averaging one point a game with nine points from nine games. Our goal difference is '0' though so we're not fairing all that bad. Four points off the bottom of the table. fourteen off the top.
Just our fourth win of the season and it came against League Two champions Elgin City at our home venue but we had to come from behind to get maximum points. Darren Lavery continued to find the net under 'Dean Ashton's' regime by bagging another double and his seventh and eighth league goal this season.
I'm speechless, I really am. Morton started the afternoon as the unbeaten leaders, intent on making an immediate return to the Championship but against all the odds, we found ourselves 6-0 up thanks to a treble from Allan Smith, an own goal, David Morris and Darren Lavery. Unbelievable scoreline.
We've been drawn away to Highland League side Nairn County in the Scottish Cup third round - I would like to think we could progress to the next round but after our performances against Threave Rovers and Buckie Thistle in last seasons competition (even though we eventually won both ties), this cup tie is a potential bananaskin.
Arguably this is the worst performance Berwick have had since we began this save, unacceptable and somehow we only lost the game by two goals to one but it should have been much worse. Darren Lavery (who else?) bagged our goal and also had a second strike chalked off in the first forty five minutes.
Can we play the league leaders every week? We thumped Morton at home when they led the league table and now Brechin (the current league leaders) have been beaten 2-1 at home as full back Ross Davidson scored the winning goal four minutes from the end. Ross Perry put through his own net to give us the lead, James Dale levelled for the leaders twenty minutes from time but Davison got the winner and I'm delighted.
But, regardless of picking up maximum points, recent performances must improve.
Back-to-back defeats against teams who began the game bottom of the table. Unacceptable. I've no answers to why our form/performances have been so bad lately. Next up is a bananaskin in the Scottish Cup so don't be surprised when he get knocked out of the competition.
It's a third consecutive league defeat and we've failed to score in two of those three games but this was a much better performance (not saying much) but it's still a defeat and we are getting closer to being in a relegation battle, which I suppose we expected but still you can't beat the likes of Morton (relegated last season from the Championship) but lose to the likes of (no disrespect) Stranraer.
Feeling I may need to change the 'style' but I'll see how we fare in our next game, home to Cowdenbeath.
Not looking to good for Berwick at the moment is it? Hopefully you can turn your fortunes around and next season fight for promotion!
Nope, the form recently has been horrible and confidence is getting damaged game by game. Something needs to change or we'll be heading back to League Two next season and in return (more than likely) getting the chop.
Oh deary me, cannot buy a win at the moment. Four straight league defeats. Confidence is getting worse per game.
It's an improvement on the performance but it's now five league games without a win. I've got three games remaining and then my horrible stint has come to an end. It's been quite a while since Darren Lavery has found the net and that's quite concerning as he's meant to be my main source for goals.
Yet again we lose against the team who started the afternoon bottom of the table (for the third time in this stint), still cannot buy a frigging win and six straight League One defeats and it's just going to continue, and continue. Confidence has completely went, the striker has stopped scoring, the midfield have stopped assisting and I really just want to resign as this season has been a disaster bar a few 'bright' points, and they've been minimal.
It's hard to believe that since I thumped Morton 6-2, I've only won twice in the last ten league games.
It's been quite a while but we've tasted victory again in League One and just for the third time in something like twelve league games as we beat Ayr United 3-1. Striker Darren Lavery scored in either half while Michael McKenna struck inbetween Lavery's double. Ryan Nisbet pulled one back for Ayr but the result wasn't in any real danger at that stage.
So my stint has come to an end and we are in seventh place after just three wins from the last twelve league games and that's relegation form, hence the reason we're only five points clear of basement club Stranraer and three points ahead of Airdrie who currently occupy the relegation/promotion playoff spot. I'm hoping the confidence has returned somewhat after the home success against Ayr.
With 13 games left and if you find a good vein of form you can find yourself in the playoffs easily but maybe just keeping them up and jumping ship to a team who comes down from the Championship may be a good idea

Thanks guys, it'll be very tough to keep Berwick up but thats the main aim, we knew there wouldn't be much more in the tank than that this season.
Well last time we held our own against Aberdeen, this time we failed to turn up and got smashed, six nil!
We've conceded ten in two games, definitely got a defensive problem thats for sure. We were three nil down at half time. Pulled two back through Lavery and Morris but pushing for a tthird we conceded again, losing out four two.

Exactly! It was written in the stars!
Disappointing, Brechin took their chances, we didn't and it cost us.

It certainly was, Shedender done brilliantly well to bring that back.
Poor showing, poor defeat, poor result.

Poor enough result at home to Peterhead.

Michael McKenna's eighth minute goal has given us a 1-0 win against Forfar at Station Park.

And this is the reason why the game frustrates me, we can beat the league leaders in the last game and then lose to the basement club next.

Another unacceptable performance but a potential bananaskin avoided. Allan Smith scoring after just two minutes.
Seriously? A complete reversal of last seasons fourth round tie.

Don't be alarmed folks but the losing streak has come to an end, as has Darren Lavery's goal drought.
