I suggest everybody clicks the "Notify me when updated" button to receive an email when the file is updated/amended in the future.
This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2016 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, with 26 media files added to encompass all major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all these files to work, however, you will need to start a new game.
Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical, although of course you use the equivalent folder for FM16.
Or, you can follow the below instructions to install this version of this file
Step 1: Go to
PC
Slightly more detail in this post
Linux
Android:
Step 2: Delete the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the path above
Step 3: Copy the dbc, edt and lnc folder from this download into the folders mentioned in step 1.
Step 4: Go to:
Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and select the folder named "FM16 Real Names Fix Files from sortitoutsi.net v2.1".
Step 7: Paste the circled folder directly into the folder mentioned in step 5.
Take care to remove any previous versions of this file
Step 8: This should be what your editor data folder looks like. There may also be a config.xml file in this folder and can be safely retained; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. Club names (including the German ones) are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in FMC. There's a workaround for that in the first post.

The second screenshot is quite strange. The UID used for the competition with that name is a fixed one and there's no reason I can think of that it is then found in the Maltese league It could be that claassen moved it from Japan and decide to use it as the Maltese third tier, but I don't really see why he should have.
As for the error when loading it up, that's very strange I've used the files in conjunction with a lot of claassen's file and haven't had any issues whatsoever. I'm working on a version of the file for 16.3 file, hopefully that works for you
Thanks, noted

This might be a silly question. I was wondering if you didn't put this folder from download: folder: fm16 real names fix files into the editor, would you have more room to have extra database/files (league add-ons/extra leagues) etc. in your custom database when create your new save. As you know it crash dumps when has two many files when you create a new custom database for your new save, because limit on how many files you have in the custom database.

It's almost certainly an issue of a conflict with one of your many editor data files. There's no way that I, or the creator of each of these files, can conceivably test their file with and against any and all other files created, so conflicts like that are bound to happen. In isolation, and in conjunction with some other files, I can assure you that my Maltese league file works - but this is not the place to solve that particular matter.
I suggest you use v2 of this file with 16.1 and 16.2, which is probably why you're having issues with some leagues failing to load, since you are using 16.3 files with older databases...
It's entirely up to you which files you can run in your own save game, including or excluding the ones from this download. You can choose not to load the journalists and/or media files from this download, but I would certainly run the Club Name Changes and 3 Letter Competition files, personally.

my fm version is 16.3. but it's still not working
i reinstall my fm 16 and there is 1600, 1601 and 1630 folders.
inside all 3 folders there's 1630_fm, 1630_fmc, dbc, edt and lnc files
i only deleted and replaced the dbc, edt and lnc files in the 1630 folder. do i do it for all the other folders too?
or i have to delete the 1630_fm, 1630_fmc folder too
mons
You need to do the part in bold for the 1600, 1601 and 1630 folders.

With the game in italian, Swiss teams have the name translated in italian. Zurigo instead of FC Zurich, San Gallo instead of FC St.Gallen, etc..
All other teams of the game, have their original name and not translated in italian.
I just want that Zurich is still Zurich also in italian language, and not Zurigo.
French, German, English teams still have their original name in italian version.

when is the belgian cup name (cofidis cup) replaced by croky cup?
did this update today and followed all the right steps!
its still cofidis cup even after delete cache en reload skin
thx
mons
That's an issue with the Italian translation in the game and has nothing to do with this file.
You can make changes to your existing save game by inserting the below line in an lnc file:
with xx being the clubs' UID and yy being the name you'd like to see for the full name.
You can also used the above template for the short name (i.e. the one seen in the league table) by changing the above code to CLUB_SHORT_NAME_CHANGE.
Hope this helps.
I'm afraid you must not have followed the steps correctly as the competition name change is in place. The lnc files should be in the 1600, 1601 and 1630 equivalent folders, perhaps that is the issue...

Thanks mate. What about six letters name? Can be changed in lnc file?
mons
I'm afraid not, or if there is, I don't know about it
Siegfried.m
Ok, I figured it out. 6 letters name is automatically changed based on the short name. Thanks
Davke1904
the name is corrrect is called croky cup now but the picture is saying cofidus cup!
where can i find the right picture?
thx

By looking for/in the thread/forum of the logopack you downloaded, I would imagine...

I've been playing championship and football manager since 1994, I've been using the fix for as long as I can remember.
I've got a problem since the release of update 16.3,
I replace the three folders in steam folder (data/db etc) and replace the files in my documents but I am still missing the german national team.
This happens whether I do the applying of the fix before a new game, or during one.
I don't use the winter transfer update I just use the normal database plus some files by pr0.
I wouldn't think adding a third party editor data file or ten (changing things like skills etc) would effect the fix.
Any ideas?
mons
You need to make sure that:
- the edt folders in 1600, 1601 and 1630 do not contain the fake.edt file. If either of them do, delete it. You might as well delete the SI_team_Holland.edt file if it's there too.
- the lnc folders in 1600, 1601 and 1630 contain only the three lnc files from this download (i.e. Awards.lnc, City, Club and Stadium.lnc and Competitions and other Changes.lnc)
If you think that all the above are in place, then please post screenshots of the 6 respective folders (displaying clearly the file path ) so that I can have a look to see if there's anything wrong there...I have never had occasion to suspect that editor data files affect the appearance or otherwise of the German national team (although they can supersede naming of awards, cities, clubs, competitions, nations and stadiums), so you can discount that as a possible reason for this issue.

# to activate the changes in your save game.
# Please note that doing so will "lose" the respective clubs' nicknames from within the game.
and why the clubs's nicknames are lost because the name change?
mons
Because that's an after-effect of SI allowing lnc changes in this manner. Nothing which can be done about it.

does this Linceses fix work with the new Patch 16.3.1? Thanks in advance for your answers

Which Brazilian team names have been changed?
If it's Flamengo only, then that fix is included in these files.

Every Serie A - B - C Teams seems changes because of licencing... (also as I don't use dbc files please you put this fix to lnc with # of course... So I can at least change this manually...)
