Great goal from Rashford, will probably get in the squad for the Euros now if the Sturridge injury is to be believed.

That said i think it'd be better for him if he doesn't go, don't want him ending up as Walcott mk2

People obviously glossing over the fact he was absolutely appalling apart from the incredibly fortunate goal he scored. I wouldn't take him based on what I've just watched.

Henderson was also absolutely appalling.

'Fuck Wilshere Sturridge the crock'

Dunno though Sturridge is obviously the better player at the minute but he simply can not be relied on to stay fit, with no injury concerns of course you'd take him, but games come quite quickly in the Euros and its hardly a stretch to imagine that Hodgson would be concerned he wouldn't make it through the tournament.

Rather take a crooked Sturridge than Rashford.

Also he's just somehow done 4 months with Liverpool with nothing, so got a slight feeling England might be doing something wrong

Why would you rather take an injured player?

He's constantly injured - it's nothing to do with England. Staying fit for 4 months is fuck all.

Seems to have gone by largely unmentioned that the U21's won the Toulon tournament last night, beating France. The first England team to have won anything in over 20 years.

None of the other teams really had their full u21's team though

Cause he's a way better player, rather take him on the chance that he might play (the injury doesn't sound bad at all)

He's not if he's injured though. About as useful as taking Stephen Hawking.

Drinkwater & Townsend cut from the squad. Not surprised really, Drinkwater has looked massively out of his depth in every game he's played.

I completely forgot about Sterling until the squad was announced.

I don't know how Sterling ever made it as a professional footballer, he's absolutely terrible.

No idea what Barkley is doing there tbh.

Other than that it looks alright, shame that Drinkwater didn't make it.

Eh? He's played 3 games, was man of the match in one, played for 15 minutes in the other, then had a quiet game vs Australia but to be fair in a make shift side.

Roy's a cunt as usual, if Drinkwater won the title with City or someone he would be first name on the sheet. Fucking Wilshare and even Henderson (but to be fair he has actually played this season) getting in over him is shit as.

He did nothing in the game where he got MOTM. He deserved to be considered for the squad, and I'd probably take him over Carlton Pal Jordan Henderson but never Wilshere. If Wilshere is fit you take him, no question.

The real mind boggling selections is why we're taking so many CAMs or players who can play there. If Dier gets injured we're fucked in midfield unless we have a Wilshere/Henderson pivot which would be less secure than having Wilsh & Dier deep.

He's got some ability and is still young, but I've seen very little evidence to suggest he's fantastic.

If we're picking on reputation rather than form, which is the opposite of what Roy has said numerous times, then yeah Wilshere has to go.

Drinkwater's probably a little unlucky not to go (christ we're shite aren't we) but its Barkley and Henderson that should consider themselves fortunate.

Henderson is average, Barkley wasn't that good this season, Wilshere missed the season with injury and offers no guarantees that he'll be any good/stay fit and Milner only gets in because of his work rate. The fact that all of those get in ahead of someone who regularly performed for the league champions is madness.

This squad goes to show that it's still all about who you play for and not how well you've played. I hate these squad announcements anyway, it's depressing to see others being able to leave out players like Reus, Costa & Mata while in England we're debating whether or not a kid who has less than half a seasons experience and a couple others who spend most of their time in A&E should make our squad.

There has to be some allowances for talent over form - not necessarily reputation.

A squad full of Mark Noble and Danny Simpson would get us nowhere, but should be there on form.

Surely the argument that Drinkwater should go because he played for the champions is exactly the same as saying that he should be going because of who he played for rather than because of what he did?

I just don't think he's a very good player, sure, he had a better season than some that have gone. But he also played next to the one man midfield that was Kante and hasn't looked remotely comfortable at this level against some fairly indifferent opposition. Its hardly a national scandal he's not going.
