Largely agree (not even sure Portugal are a good side though), yet think they're completely justified in celebrating reaching the semis.

Unrelated note, France's penalty was never a penalty, lest we get into the 'deliberate' handball debate again.

I'd argue that thats not an unnatural position though. Players hands come up like that virtually every time they challenge for the ball in the air, its how you generate momentum and used as justification for people elbowing each other in the face all the time.

No, but you're "deliberate" handball debate is extremely boring. If it hit him from two yards out and his hand is in a natural position than fair enough, but his own fault for having his hands up there.

I've only played volleyball a couple of times, but I'm pretty sure when you hit the ball with your hands you do it deliberately. So I'm not really sure how you think the correct application of the current laws would lead to a situation like that.

All I'm saying is that just because it hits the players hand it is not a handball offence (the offence is deliberate handball). We all can agree Schweinsteiger didn't have time to react to it. So it can only be deliberate on the grounds that his arms are up and my point is that challenging for the ball in the air with your hands up like that is an entirely natural position that you see hundreds of times a match on a football pitch. If you don't agree then fine, but its hardly such an outrageous interpretation that you should be offended I suggested it.

I thought, like many others, that the Germany v Italy game would decide the winner of this tournament. Shocked neither of them ended up making the final!
