West Ham not letting the money burn in their pocket, £16 mill seems to be the fee agreed for Sakho and they've bid £20 mill for Swansea's Ayew.

.
On his day hes really very good, he's just not even remotely consistent... sounds like a great fit for Arsenal.

In all seriousness though... yeah it seems very grim at the moment for Arsenal fans transfer-wise. Especially with both Gazidis and Wenger coming out defending their transfer policy this week.

Thing is, he's not.

I like Jonny, and its a shame it didn't work out for him. But even when he was fit, he was bad, not just inconsistent, but outright bad, for at least three seasons before we sold him.

It sounds like he's found his level at West Brom and was their player of the season last season but I would have no faith on hm to replicate it back under the much more onerous surroundings of another big club.

And on the subject of Arsenal, you've got about as much hope of getting Messi as you do Greizmann.

GFFN stating that Arsenal have made contacts with the Mahrez camp & Arsene done that fucking smirk at the Leicester-PSG game.

And why? I don't think he'll come but when you lay it out it isn't the most preposterous idea. It is a step down in terms of actual club ability but so was Ibra/Pogba/Mkhitaryan to United but £££ got them in the end. Arsene has been obsessed with Griezmann in the past and had stated the current market 'scares him' (£75m for Higuain, £100m for Pogba) and is only gonna get worse, so he may look at Griezmann buyout clause of ~£80m and think it represents value in the current market. The possibility of Gameiro & Diego Costa to Atleti who are both starters essentially is only gonna fuel this shite even more, like the merry-go-round which brought Mesut here in the first place.

We could comfortably offer Griezmann £180-200k p/w which is most likely more significant than what he's earning now and it's in the best interests in the club to have a marquee signing as Alexis & Mesut only have 2 years left on their deals meaning if we carry on showing no ambition in the market then we're going to lose them at a cut price next summer. He's the only 'world class' player we could theoretically sign but obviously the fault in the logic is would Griezmann actually want to come to Arsenal, and if I was him I wouldn't personally but money talks.

It's not so much that I don't think you're a big enough club or can't afford it (although, can you afford £80m + wages + bonuses on one player?) its that I don't think Greizmann leaves to anyone, certainly not this window. Why would he? He's never going to get it as good as he's got it there, top earner and the most important player at one of Europe's biggest clubs its like Jamie Vardy at Leicester x 47. What attraction do Arsenal hold to him?

It just strikes me as one of those transfers where everyones sitting around going 'Why aren't my club in for him?' when the reality is, like everyone, they've sounded out his agent early doors and know whats up.

But that said, if he did leave, I don't see him going to Arsenal. We'll be looking to throw money at someone again next summer, PSG are desperate for someone to replace Zlatan, and Chelsea, and City would be in for him. Maybe he'll be like Sanchez and just decide he wants London, but, even then, I don't see what would draw him to Arsenal.

I'd imagine Griezmannn wants to leave for a massive club - moving to Arsenal puts him further away from that.

No I mean - a move to Arsenal in its self might make sense. Or not be too silly.

But he probably wants to play for Bayern / Barcelona / Real Madrid. And making two transfers is harder than one/

Alexis didn't decide because of London, he joined us because we were the best team interested in him.

As I said I have no idea of how Griezmann's mind works, but £££ does have some pulling power on any player and I can't exactly see Griezmann retiring at Atleti.

And yes we can absolutely afford that. We're the most cash rich club in World football, the reason we aren't big spenders is largely because of Wenger than anyone else. We're able to generate ~£70m's worth of transfers a season and we only spent £16m last season altogether.

I'm not saying it's ever going to happen, but the way Wenger has banged on about value in a 'scary' market where Lukaku is somehow worth £67m, says that £100m transfers are justifiable if you have money in United & Pogba's case, Griezmann is quite possibly a 'bargain' at ~£80m.

Obviously if Real/Barca/Bayern ever go into him (or if United get CL football, which they should) then obviously we have no chance.

Yeah in a world where Lukaku is apparently worth nearly 70m and Stones is around 50m then 80 for Griezmann is a steal, even the price for Pogba doesn't seem that bad against those.

I'm not entirely sure why but if we want 4 out-and-out CB's, I guess it works.

Report is a release clause between £3-4.5M has also been activated for Hull midfieder Mo Diame. One wonders why on Earth Hull agreed to that, and not least given they barely have a fit team at the minute. Also links with Brighton winger Knockeart, although not sure if that one will happen.

The man reportedly rejected Chelsea several times, to stay in Spain at Sociedad and Atletico.

Yeah, he initially rejected us to sign with Atleti too. Arsene has been absolutely obsessed with him though, more than he was with Götze when he was at Dortmund. Who knows though, only so much heartbreak the little man can endure with Atletico.

I suppose because we got rid of two centre backs in the close season (Taylor/Coloccini) then it makes sense to buy two CB's.

Signing Ciaran Clark is basically the equivalent of starting with a 10pt points deduction.

And i've no idea where the Griezmann link with us has come from as there is absolutely no chance of him signing for us. Why on earth would he want to leave Athletico Madrid to join Arsenal?

5 mill for a back up Championship CB/LB

Actually, that is probably the norm. Doubt we've ever spent that much on a squad, nevermind a player! Our big signing from non-league Jarrett Rivers has gone back to whence he came, returning to Blyth Spartans after having zero impact. We might be signing Chris Atkinson who left Crewe in the summer. Never heard of this player, any input welcome!

Yup, it's the norm now pal. Injuries aside, I suspect Mbemba/Hanley and Lascelles to be the first choice pairing.

Mo Diame is a good signing, shows the turmoil Hull must be in if he chose to drop down a division rather than play in the Premier League. We all expect Newcastle to go straight back up, but at the age of 29 you'd've thought he would want to play as much as he could in the top division.

Man City have been busy too, Sane yesterday and Gabriel Jesus today (albeit he actually joins City in January). Pep is making some good signings but I still think he needs to sort out the defence, urgently!

Conte has got rid of some dead weight in the Chelsea squad, managing to get Salah to sign permanently for an Italian team this time.

Also, Leicester have brought in Kapustka whom you may recognise from the Poland team at the Euros. Surely this does not hint at an exit for Mahrez, but I am sure it will be played up that way.

Villa are splashing some cash again too, and again I don't think much of what they've spent on a player. £12 mill for Ross McCormack, who is a good Championship striker at best in my view. Slightly strange that Fulham have accepted the bid, as I swear I read that they rejected the same amount from Norwich when they bid and were holding out for £15mill. Good dodge for Norwich either way.

And by all accounts Marlos Moreno still to come too. Don't think we need much for the defence but the sooner he fucks off Kolarov (doesn't even have to sell him, shooting him out of a cannon would be fine) the better. How he was still starting matches for us last season I will never know.
