TONGEY's TRAVELS [TAKE II] (Take Two)

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/RYIMMGonZPi2qYou4ZyJjzIFN14C6DJECVufK0pJ.jpg

The aim is simple, to win every trophy possible in the game. Now I know this challenge is near on impossible but hopefully I can keep the motivation up and challenge myself against @Dan, @Shedender and @Jamie3 who are also attempting this challenge. Now you may have noticed I already have a career on FM17 with the same aim. This challenge ended when the game messed up and started letting me apply for any team and also didn't have the correct players for the teams either which kind of ruined it for me. So I'm back to try it again and this time go further.

I've decided to go against the flow of the tide that @Dan, @Shedender and @Jamie3 have created and gone with the North American and South American leagues loaded. I've never actually managed in South America and thought it was be an interesting place to start however I will be going of an American team if they are available at the start of the game.

MEET THE MANAGER

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Al7o9jTSHugopyDWb7zvblMNZKYXSMxgLBsirS1r.png

Meet Mark, a 24 year old manager with no previous experience in the management world having only played Sunday League before. Born in Northwich on 15th September 1992, a loyal supporter of Northwich Victoria (his local team) and Manchester United whilst also keeping an eye out for 1 FC Koln in Germany. A more tactical manager than a tracksuit manager which hopefully will work out in the long run, we shall soon see...

I haven't bought FM17, and those eyes make me feel like I've made the right choice.

But I digress - good luck with this.

MY FIRST JOB IN MANAGEMENT!

So it's been a while since I started my game, mostly because none of the clubs wanted me in South America and I didn't have a chance of getting a club in North America due to my reputation so I kept hitting that spacebar to continue the game. On and on we went, clubs kept turning me down then suddenly one offered me an interview. Not in Uruguay, not in Chile, not in Colombia but in good old Blighty.

Tranmere Rovers hired me as their manage to dig them out of the well they have found themselves in. They are way down the league and expect to stay up and I've promised the board that I will do that. Realistically I aim to finish mid table and maybe try to push for the playoffs but I don't think that will happen. Tranmere are a team that I know quite well due to not being based too far from them and my team Northwich playing them in pre season friendlies every year. Let's hope that I can spark them to a good run of form and maybe even a cup run.

As you can see, 11 points from the first 13 games isn't exactly the best haul so you can see why they sacked their previous manager. We're only a few wins away from mid table so thats my first aim, get up the table quickly and secure my place in the league for next season. I'd also love to beat Chester as they are a team I've always hated due to my teams rivalry with them.

I have a squad full of depth but lacking that overall quality, I'm hoping that I can maybe bring in some quality loan players from a few leagues above that can bolster my squad. Attacking wise we need the most work as we don't score a lot of goals, so thats where I'm starting.

Let's get going then...

Thanks @Jamie3 that's what I was thinking, they are seriously underperforming so that must be why they fired their previous manager.

@Suffolk Seasider hopefully thats the charm! Annoyed about my last career but hopefully I can start as well.

@Ice Man thats where I initially wanted to start but obviously my reputation isn't quite high enough yet.

MID SEASON UPDATE: TRANMERE ROVERS 2016

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Me3n62WTVsIMu3qHRuRwZHY8QJMeqWum4ReikO2p.png

First of all, I'm sorry for my lack of updates, it's been a busy few days but I'm back now ready to play some FM. I was sat near the bottom of the tape last time I checked in with you but Tranmere are a team that can be so much higher and it was my job to help them realise their potential. It's a hard league to manage in as you have s many trophy competitions to compete in at the same time so knowing what to prioritise is difficult but I think it's gone alright so far.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/AGvwDIYSdo5QIvr2jIqRoctbEROEbWFJ1Y3O4tpW.png

As you can see above our form has been patchy at the best of times but I've changed the system we are playing to a more possession based tactic and it seems to be working a bit better. A narrow loss to Forest Green who are sitting top of the league after a 91st minute winner was a devastating blow. We need to turn our draws into wins however as we currently lack in those big time. A few of the 1 points turning to 3 could have made a big impact in our league position but it's not to be.

Cup wise we have been very impressive. We reached the 3rd round of the FA Cup where we faced Ipswich Town but just couldn't score that important goal and conceded against the run of play which was a sickening blow. The FA Trophy is a far more realistic aim and we are progressing nicely in that too. A huge game against Barrow is up next and I hope to progress into the next round.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/z98cWurQwGBteRdZmd1waqVOUARnNay0MBPlsTTJ.png

We have risen a dramatic amount positions however and it's upwards I want to continue going. We currently sit 17 points off the Playoffs which is where I aim to be. A big dream? Maybe? It's a challenge I'm up for though and one I think with a little bit of luck we could accomplish.

Thanks @r96Skinner I definitely had a positive impact on the squad but was it enough for the playoffs?

END OF SEASON UPDATE 2017

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/Me3n62WTVsIMu3qHRuRwZHY8QJMeqWum4ReikO2p.png

[b]It's the end of the 2016/17 season and last time I checked in with you we were on the rise but not quickly enough. We had a lot of draws and not many wins which needed changing as soon as possible. A few new loanees came in to provide some more quality to the team and some deadwood either shipped out or downwards to the reserves as they weren't needed anymore. We were also still in the FA Trophy with a huge game against Barrow coming up, could we progress further into the latter rounds...

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/m63m27eMpYjIpqnpj2jyESy3BizLUCqRCEiklm20.png

First of all, we will tackle the FA Trophy match against Barrow. As you can see it didn't go to plan as Jordan Williams tore us apart (which is a kick in the teeth for me as he was a hero at Northwich Victoria my local team and Barrow bought him from us last season). We were well in the game but Williams made the impact late on after we had been reduced to 10 men after a horror tackle. A shame we couldn't quite make it further as I thought this was a great chance for my first trophy on this career.

League wise we had a great run of form, winning 12 of the 18 games left in the season. The biggest win of the season was against Wrexham where we turned out 3-1 winners against a Wrexham team flying high in the league. It ultimately came down to the last 2 games as to whether we would finish in the play-offs. We were level on points sitting in 7th position with Dagenham and Redbridge and Lincoln sitting above us on the same points. Would our two draws from the last two games be enough to get that playoff position?

Unfortunately not, we failed at the final hurdle which is disappointing but it's a great achievement considering where we were when I took over at the club. Just think where we could have ended up if we had a better start. I plan on being at Tranmere next season but if a MLS job comes up, I'm jumping ship and making over the reins in the US of A.

Amazed you've not made the play-offs as the second half of season form looked good enough to win any league.

Very unlucky to miss the play-offs, shame about those two final draws. MLS would be very interesting, I watch the league a lot in real life but never got around to being a team from MLS on Football Manager. Either way, good luck!
