I suggest everybody clicks the "Notify me when updated" button to receive an email when the file is updated/amended in the future.
This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released and when the full game comes out to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in FMT or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2017 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. That's strange. Did you install another version of this file from another site perchance?

Can you tell me what's wrong with that pls? I'm not an expert on world football...

I remembered Omonia Nicosia, but I checked the name in the original language "Athlītikos Syllogos Omonoia Leukōsias" the most currently used name would Omonia.
mons
I haven't had the time to check, but there's no harm in re-applying this download, I guess. I'll have a look when I get home later tonight and update this download, if necessary, but I suspect it won't be.
I just checked and this download makes no changes to Cypriot club names, i.e. the present names are the default SI names. Given that the SI researchers are better placed than me to make the judgement call re the translation of club names, I'm happy to retain the present name for Omonoia/Ominia Nicosia. If you feel strongly enough that the name needs to be changed, then you can do through the pre-game editor (before starting a new game) or through an lnc file (in the middle of a save-game).

No folder named 1731 was created, and no new files were (re)created with the release of 17.3.1. If you originally applied the download correctly, then you should need to do nothing. If, for some reason, it isn't working, then please re-download and re-apply the files correctly.
There are screenshots in the OP of how the dbc/permanent, edt/permanent and lnc folders should look. Anything else, and it won't work as intended...

It must be there, otherwise the game can't work without the database!
Make sure you look for it in the Steam installation folder and not the Documents path.

That is their new legal name, as indicated here, which is why I did not modify the current name in the FM database.
If you want to change the name back to the old version, you need to insert the below code into the City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc file:

Hi mate in Romanian Football Association and UEFA Web sites says their name is FC Steaua Bucureşti (Romanian) and FC Steaua Bucharest. I think they bought their name again.

Hi there. The Romanian FA link doesn't even use their new logo, which leads me to doubt how up-to-date their info is. On the other hand, while the UEFA site uses their new logo, their last news on them appears to be in December 2016, which is apparently before the name change was announced.
If you can find me anything recent (i.e. in the last month) explicitly saying that the owner's decision to rename the club has been reversed, then I'd gladly correct it, cos the new name irritates me too
1966
Edit: U18s Cup has the logo for Premier League Cup?
Now I'm not sure there is a Premier League Cup in Real Life? possibly is for U23s but this one is for U18s.
Edit 2: Looking at it The U23s have the Premier League Cup, so I assume its an error in the Logo Megapack and the name isn't on here?
mons
I don't believe English youth competitions are officially in the database, but they are generated whenever the English leagues are loaded. This means their UID is different from one save-game to the other, and not fixed like other competitions, and therefore I cannot include it in this download. I'll check again when I'm hope to be safe.
If you have any queries re Logo Megapacks, I suggest you ask the respective pack creator(s). However, it could well be that an image was assigned a non-fixed UID, which then displays on a different competition to that intended, but I could well be wrong.

I can assure you there's nothing wrong with it. Probably it's a false positive from your anti-virus. Which site are you downloading it from?
1966
Download your fix pack and the megapack is from here too, the metallic one!
Mons can you assist in helping me get the correct name fix please
mons
Then ask kremmen for help in the Metallic logo pack forum
You'll have to tell me more about why and how you're finding it difficult to install the real name fix. Which step of the installation instructions or YouTube video are you having trouble with?
mmanolis
ooohh sorry mate I didn't know that..!! My bad!!!
1966
Non! I've installed everything as shown but for some reason my Game shows Under 18s Cup which I believe it should be FA Youth Cup.
With logos premier league cup is assigned however when you go onto the news it shows FA Youth Cup logo i think!
mons
As I said above, I can't really do anything since the UIDs of those competitions is not fixed.
I suggest you open a new lnc file with Notepad and use the same code for competition name changes as in my file, obviously changing the UIDs and competition name to the ones you want to. Here's a guide with better detail.
1966
Would it be possible to give you the ids of my Game and you possibly help me with the code please
mons
Tell me the IDs and the competition names you want them to be assigned to, in the below format, and I'll do what I can
e.g.
1234567 - Mons cup
87654 - Susie KO
1966
Under 18s Cup which I assume is the FA YOUTH CUP - 100000054
English Under 18s Group 1 which I assume is U18s Premier League? - 98040813 - This comes up as South then it looks like teams qualify for another verison of the Premier League if that sounds right?
However then you have English Under 18s Group 1 which is ?(NOT SURE) - 100000046
mons
Mate, I want to help you but the least I expect is a bit of clarity in what you're saying and what you want me to do.
Is English Under 18s Group 1 UID 98040813 or 100000046? I don't have FM loaded atm and I can't read your mind and know what you want. I don't have the time to investigate all this.
Just tell me, in a very basic manner, the competition UIDs you want to change and the names you are proposing. Please use the below format:
e.g.
1234567 - Mons cup
87654 - Susie KO
If you don't know, or can't tell what is what, then how can you expect me to?
Edit: A cursory Google gave me these Wikipedia pages: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016%E2%80%9317_Premier_League_Cup, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_Development_League. Maybe they'll help...
