Think it's the first time iirc.

Marc.
Back then both our sides [Thistle and Huddersfield] were on their knees in the lower reaches of Scottish and English football - now they're both in their respective top flights.
We've come a long way...

What makes it better is that we've done it without oodles of cash. We're a sensibly run club. We have been since administration and the Third Division season 14 years ago. While the Derbies of this division throw money around to fall on their faces we've built a team though a brilliant appointment, sensible buying and selling, and creating a real bond between team and fans. We've not got the most talented individuals, but we have a set of players who would run through brick walls for the club, even the loanees, and that's saying something.
I hope that next season we plan sensibly. We need to tie down Aaron Mooy and Izzy Brown if at all possible (rumour has it a fee has been agreed for Mooy already). I'd love to see Tammy Abrahams in a Town shirt. That Danny Williams from Reading is a horrible, narky, snarly bastard who I've whinged about time and again - and he'd be great for us on a free transfer (I think his contract is up, but I may be wrong). Sign more of the likes of Ollie Watkins from Exeter - we can take more punts on players like him, and they'll be more likely to come because they will get game time. Pick up someone like Kyle Bartley or Harry Maguire for the back. An exciting summer awaits! Plenty of Germans will be on the way, I suspect!
A word for Reading. It's the cruellest way to lose, and like Sheffield United they lost with great dignity and our coach was actually applauded by a small group of Reading fans leaving the car park - they'd stayed to applaud us, which is a touch of class. All the best to them. They weren't great on the day (I'm not convinced we played well, if truth be told, but we did at least show a bit more attacking intent), but they're a work in progress. Stam has something - I just hope he learns to be a bit more attacking more consistently.
I'll still be hanging around here. After all these years in the lower leagues, I'm not about to forget the heart of football just because Town have gone up. So I look forward to hearing plenty of League One conversation - from the early indications, it's a lot less patronising in tone than anything in the Premier League.

But please don't give us Danns!

Ah, I see you're a man of culture aswell and you're hanging around our message board.
Lee Clark said today that we offered him a three year deal, but face competition from Blackburn and Wigan, so that might be that.
HOWEVER, we did sign two players today. Joe Skarz returning from Oxford and Adam Thompson joining from Southend. Skarz will probably be backup for Greg Leigh, while Thompson will probably go straight in at CB. Southend fans being absolutely pissed about him leaving is quite a bonus for me tbh. However, with Nathan Cameron returning from injury, Thompson and Antony Kay we are aleady quite stacked at CB, unless the latter get smoved on like Leon Barnett did, Add those two to our other signings Stephen Dawson, Neil Edwards, Jermaine Beckford, Joe Murphy and Callum Reilly our squad is shaping up quite nicely.
Oh, and regarding Danns: Come on you Oystons!! I count on you!
Grimnir
And I don't hang around your message boards, I hang around our message boards who have twitterers and the like to do this research for me

Seems to fit the bill.
Available on free transfer: check
Not good enough for the division: check
Knows someone at the club: check
Desperate: check
I can see him signing, if we are interested.
I could see us going for Ishmael Miller too!

Marc.
I'm gutted that he's gone, the brightest talent who has actually blossomed and move on from Firhill in many years - earning us a club record fee in the process.
Barnsley are getting a tremendously talented lad, 22 in October and fresh off scoring 7 goals from centre-half - earning himself a place in the Scottish Premiership team of the year, the only player to get in who didn't play for Celtic or Aberdeen.
He'll be missed. Take good care of our boy, Tykes.
terriersmad
They will. Barnsley have been superbly run in the last couple of years and seem to have a cracking scouting network. If they pick up a few more bargains, they'll be top half this season - I know they struggled at the back end of last season, but that's partly because they sold without replacing, and they seem to be replacing.

Haha, dire stuff.
We've signed a few players (and unbelievably actually paid a decent sum of money for one) already. Still hasn't quite sunk in we're in League 1, even when the fixture list came out last week.
Vercoe
Absolutely buzzing to have you lot away on a Tuesday won't be able to tick Ewood Park off my list then!
On other news we've re-signed our best player on a new contract, even after him supposedly having medicals with Sheffield United and turning down a contract with Bradford!

Is that when it is? Poor do that. Some of the games that are down for Tuesday nights are terrible.
Grimnir
Depending how this current trial goes, if we then do have new owners and therefore a travelling support, we have Plymouth away on a Tuesday night. What scheduling genius came up with that. Gillingham fans won't be too happy either as they're away at us on a Tuesday too!
BR.
I'm sure I read somewhere that they put games on a Tuesday night that wouldn't have a large away following even if it was a Saturday (like the ones we've mentioned here). Whereas having more local games on a Saturday ensures there'll be plenty of away fans, which might not be the case if they were midweek.
Not sure how true it is, either way it's pretty weird.
Vercoe
I think we'd take a few to yours if it was a Saturday, we have a lot of fans living up north and that as it is plus you lot are a bigger club than us and it'll be a bit of a novelty compared to Accrington and Mansfield away.
gfnx25
Our fixtures are quite kind to us. our midweek games are mostly at home, or at places like Fleetwood and Blackpool which is quite as easy to get for us. Only bummer is the New Year's clash at Scunny, which is quite AIDS

Bet he doesn't play 15 games next season. Completely past it.
gfnx25
He's shit.
No honestly, think there still might be a good keeper in him, as I think he was Bradford's POTY for a reason. Problem for him was, that Pep Flitcroft used to rotate his goalies like his underwear and field a whole new defence every week, which didn't help his cause. After some poor performances with the odd fumble here and there his confidence was totally shot. Might have been worth a punt as backup, but his desire for game time and his (probably) high wages left us no choice but to send him to Narnia and shaft him.
Wish him the best of luck though. NOW YOU PLEASE TAKE DANNS OFF US FOR FECKS SAKE WILL YA?
