Don't know why Liverpool didn't just admit it from the start, makes no difference.

I'm a little surprised Coutinho's handed in a transfer request tbh.

Gone from only wanting to move if a transfer can be arranged amicably to handing in a transfer request, Torres mk2.

Honestly worried now that we won't have time to sign someone to replace him, if he does go.

Yeah thought he had a little bit more loyalty around him, but he's obviously had his head twisted and his family coming out and talking bollocks.
Can't blame him like.

5 live are reporting that Gareth Barry has moved from Everton to WBA.

Also, that Sigurdsson's move from Swansea to Everton has also gone through at £45mill.

I don't know how much the Barry move facilitated that

Sigurdsson's move is absolutely fucking terrible. He's so average it's a joke. Everton pissing money up the wall; £105m for Pickford, Keane and Sigurdsson.

Sigurdsson is a very good player. But yeah the fee is insane, although that could be said for so many transfers now.

The Premier League has been getting out of control since about 2014, but this year has taken the cake. Sigurdsson probably is worth that figure to Swansea because they wouldn't have stayed up without his goals and assists last season, but it is still outrageously over the top for Everton to fork that out. Feels weird to say Everton are overspending from wealthy owners, mind - got a bit used to Bill Kenwright saying they were skint or almost always having Barclays knocking at the door for repayments.

As for the Mags have signing Joselu, its a curious one that a not insubstantial quantity of Stoke fans seem to think he's their best striker given he's barely played for them and spent last year out on loan. But it still feels like we're continuing the weird cavalcade of "eh, might come good" signings that have already turned up this year, though least he seems to have joined for less than half the £12million figure banded around last week.

Because they've sold Lukaku and should still get reasonably big money for Barkley? - In fact if they get £35 for Barkley they will have a zero spend.

Although I've just seen Everton have signed Jose Baxter - that is surprising

Also that, but I think their owners are wealthy enough to afford this without such sales. Although I've heard Barkley's move might be on ice for the moment as he's injured his hamstring.

Baxter rejoining is weird, mind. They hopeful of a late resurgence where he massively belatedly matches his FM09 potential?

Who in their right mind is going to pay 35 million for Barkley when they know they could get him for just compensation next season, no way Everton are getting that much for him

No idea where this motion that Sigurdsson isn't a good player comes from. He almost single handily kept them up last year. Just for comparison, last year he scored 9 goals, assisted 13. Ozil scored 8 and assisted 9 (in 5 less games mind) in a much better team. In his last 3 seasons he's scored 27 and assisted 26 in 101 games in a dogshite Swansea team. Ozil has scored 18, assisted 33 in 88. Oh and Sigurdsson actually defends/runs around (delete as appropriate.)

Hell, if we sell Coutinho he would have been my number 1 replacement.

Never said he wasn't a good player, yet too many people fail to realise that Ozil does a lot more for the team than it actually looks like. I'd love see his stats for distance covered if they're available anywhere?

Sigurdsson may have scored more but he is no where near Ozil in chances created and assists are a bad stat to use as you only get them if your team mate scores. I mean Ozil created 12 chances against Sunderland alone last season (a Prem record) yet we only won the game 2-0.

Think a lot of it stems from that game vs City where he was caught just walking when City were passing it around him.

Good point, but equally Ozil has supposedly better players to finish off his chances when compared to Sigurdsson.

On an unrelated note, how have Juve nabbed Matuidi from PSG. Does he not play there much anymore?

£42m for a player that will probably be on the bench. Looks like it's time for Danny Rose to head to Google again.

personally pleased to see Liverpool holding firm on it. Think Coutinho will still be a red come the end of the transfer window and hoping it won't be long until his 'back injury' is fine to be playing again.

Yes and no. Fuck Barca and fuck player power these days. But in the long run he will go there, and you've got to question his commitment and state of mind now. He's going to feel betrayed if he doesn't go. We're lucky it's a World Cup year because he has to perform now. I still think he'll go, if not now then in January (previously I thought there was no chance). Disappointed in him (well it's probably his agent twisting his head + family getting involved) but too used to it after Torres and Suarez. Might as well milk Barcelona dry though, they've already upped £40 million from initial bid.

Yeah I'm with you. We can't really let him go this window, its getting too late to bring in a 'big name' and fed up with small club players coming to us expecting them to light up the club and never do. Hold on to him till january, let him go Barcelona then for as much as we can get for him and have a month to bring in a new player to fit the formation etc. Seen Draxler is looking cheap, but not sure he'd fit us.

I'd just like us to sign anyone at this rate to be fair. There was talk of 200 million spending, all these rumours etc and so far we've signed Salah, who while a great player is very similar to what we already have. We were already thin as fuck last year and have added CL commitments this year. No idea why we're trying to break the bank for Keita, when there's options like Draxler or even Sigurdsson who's just gone Everton. Klopp needs to bury the hatchet with Sakho as well as he was a decent defender before his ban, and we're already shit and thin in defence.

But instead we've got Lallana coming out that Sturridge is like having two new signings. Fantastic.

I rate Salah but as you say, we already had Mane, Lallana etc so whether he was really needed is debatable. One player i'd like to sign is Aubameyang and the fact he worked under Klopp at BVB gives me a little bit of hope he may come but obviously that wouldn't be this summer nor January unless they fall into horrible form and he wants out. But with transfer prices I think we'd be priced out of him.

Don't think we need to spend 80mil on a centre mid, especially one who isn't considered 'one of the best' currently and nor do I think we need to spend £60mil on a defender like VVD, yes hes quality but for that much surely we can get a couple decent leaders at the back. I like Sakho but its clear Klopp won't play him, rumors of WBA coming in for him, if we sell him, who comes in before the window shuts to cover numbers as you say for the extra CL games we face this year.

I had small hope for Aubameyang at the start of the window, but it's all gone as Klopp is obviously happy with our striker options. And as much as I like Bobby, he is not an out and out striker and he never will be. Pisses me off when Arsenal get Lacazette for a bargain, who will bang them 20+ goals this year.

Draxler is going at a bargain price and would fit in I reckon, especially with Lallana out and Coutinho potentially gone. Fuck it, I'd throw the 60 mil on VVD as well, even though he wouldn't make a huge difference. We need these transfers without any of the Coutinho money, if he goes that should be used on top to replace him.

Again I'm with you on the Firmino situation. If Coutinho goes I'd like to see Firmino sit in the hole where Coutinho was, in behind the out and out striker of preferably aubameyang, Mane and Lallana/Salah on the wings. Hendo or Can sitting as the DM.

Aubameyang
Salah - Firmino - Mane
Can/Hendo

Personally that'd be an exciting front four and would contain so much pace to terrify defenders. But we do need that leader in the back line, its been missing for seasons now and again affecting us on set pieces, we conceded the most from set pieces last season, this season we've conceded two goals from corners in one game! If it carries on we just as well wave goodbye to CL football next season already. Klopp must see that surely.
