This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in the Beta, FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2018 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. The latter are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. Due to licensing reasons, the number of Ajax non-playing staff is quite small and this file contains a fix to restore them. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Susie Real Name Fixes - Ajax staff FM18_51792081-6A2F-4EF3-8781-F6D8D9E2A331.fmf
from within the editor data folder as they are no longer needed. Retaining them will see a duplicate complement for Ajax staff members.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. The Japanese national team will be populated along the same lines too, but any Japan-based players are not in the official database and need a third-party add-on to be created and added.
Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

Open the City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc file with Notepad (on Windows) and TextEdit (on Mac). All the changes I've made in the editor data file are included in this file, however they are preceded by a hashtag (#) which makes the lnc file ignore any text following it.
You can remove the hashtags from in front of any of the "CLUB_LONG_NAME_CHANGE" and "CLUB_SHORT_NAME_CHANGE" codes which you wish to change, and this will display these changes in your save game.
For Notepad, all you need to do is: Select the edit menu, click the replace option, type #"CLUB in the first field and "CLUB in the second and clicking replace all. Then save and close. Shouldn't take more than 3 seconds if you do it right
Basically, instead of
#"CLUB_LONG_NAME_CHANGE" 915 "FC Bayern München" ""
#"CLUB_SHORT_NAME_CHANGE" 915 "FC Bayern" ""
you should have
"CLUB_LONG_NAME_CHANGE" 915 "FC Bayern München" ""
"CLUB_SHORT_NAME_CHANGE" 915 "FC Bayern" ""
Basically:
Using an lnc
Pro: Can be used (and disabled) after a save game has been started
Con: Removes club nicknames for those teams whose name has been edited
Using the editor data file (not released yet for FM18!)
Pro: Retains club nicknames
Con: Needs to be applied before starting a new game

May need adding to the list as I believe it’s called the premier division international cup on the game (should be premier league international cup)

Thanks for that - will add it to the next version
Anything else that you (or anybody!) manage to spot, do let me know please

Let me ask you, is there any way to fix brazilian first league club names (aka brasileirão or campeonato brasileiro) ? They are named only with 3 letters, like "BOT" for Botafogo or "SPA" for São Paulo

Great work again Mons, thankyou.

If you apply this download before starting a new game, they should have the correct names.
How can you tell it didn't work?
downloadkct
Because im seeing it as we speak in my screen lol. But i didnt start a new save, i applied the fix on your first post in a old save-game. I'll edit my other post to make it clear
mons
Hehe, I wasn't clear myself either tbf. I meant to ask which part doesn't work? Are competition names changed? What about awards and club names? There's different reasons why they may not be working, and different solutions according to your reply.
As specified in the installation instruction and in the same post as my reply, to get correct club names this file must be applied before starting a new game.
downloadkct
Every competition names and other clubs have changed, like Real Betis and Europa League are correct. Only thing i checked that didnt work was brazilian clubs names. In an old save
mons
Once you start a new game with these files installed, then Brazilian club names will be back to normal. Keep it in mind for FM, and also that the files must be updated every time a new official update/patch is released, to be safe

One question: is it the case again this year as in previous years that it won't be possible to carry a Beta save over into the full release and still be able to have all the corrections? i.e, if you wanted the correct club/competition etc. names and German national team squads, you'd only be able to do so by beginning a new save after the full release with the updated fix?

Edit: Tried restarting my computer, which resulted in the league names being correct, however, the club names are still wrong.

In spanish, it should be written FC Barcelona or Real Madrid CF instead of F.C. Barcelona or Real Madrid C.F.
Great job,
cheers!

You'll have to be more specific than that. What do you mean? What exactly can't you find?
FAO @SirBawsAlot @Yarda @DazS8 @US ARSENAL @Brejnholm , you really should read the installation instructions a bit more carefully. Changes in club names in the "normal" manner do not work in the beta and they cannot work until the full version is released and editor data files are enabled, which they cannot be until I get my hands on the editor A workaround to have club name changes visible is in the first post...
That's not quite exact. I've referred to the club name changes issue above. But what you would need to do when the game is released (and every time SI release a new update/patch) is to apply the files from this download which then removes any new files recreated automatically through the update which remove the effects of this fix
Hmm, you've basically not installed it correctly. Can I see a screenshot of your lnc folder?
I haven't kept a list. A bit of everything, just use it and find out And if you spot anything wrong, just let me know
For Spanish club name changes, I copied the names directly from the last version where they were displayed correctly (FM15 iirc). i.e. the names in my file are the same as those used by SI and who am I to correct them?
