Burnley are in a much better place than Everton at this moment. Would be a step down for him.

Burnley might be higher in the table now, but there's much more potential at Everton than Burnley. He'd have to be tempted if Everton or Leicester approached him.

In the long run, yeah the potential is there. Still, it would be stupid of him to go midseason.

An appointment such as Phil Neville or Giggs would almost certainly be a disaster, in fact it's embarrassing they've even thrown their hats into the ring.

Big Sam would get them sorted out but is probably quite happy in his supposed retirement.

But they are ex-Manchester United, which seems to be Everton's raison d'etre.

In fairness was Giggs not Man Utd assistant and Phil Neville.has coached at a couple of top clubs?

The less said about his coaching career the better, he was assistant manager to his brother at Valencia Hardly worth shouting about

Chris Wilder is a Blade through and through, so won't leave Sheffield United, but why don't Everton go for someone like him? He's absolutely stormed the last 3-4 years.

What do Ronald Koeman and the Titanic have in common?

Neither should have left Southampton.

Will Man Utd actually try to win a game against an equally (if not better) side today.

With Kane out for Spurs, you'd hope United go for it ...

Got what we deserved yesterday. Not enough ambition going forward, got punished.

Anfield has the worst atmosphere I've ever been in, mind. 50,000 tourists sat on their hands and then leaving 10 minutes before the end after not making a peep. Don't think I heard a single Scouse accent from anyone in the ground wearing a red scarf or shirt, only from the staff. Goodison when half empty had a better atmosphere when we were last there.

In all fairness and no disrespect to Huddersfield but a game like that really isn't going to create much of an atmosphere at any of the bigger sides in the league.

Dyche 1-0 El Dyche

We'd be relegated already if we didn't have Merino.

Ritchie seems to refressed into being average, Shelvey offers nothing, Perez is lighweight, Joselu has no threat. Lejeune looks dodgy as well.

Clark, Mbemba, Merino, Colback, Mitrovic and Aarons need to be restored.

Clark and Mbemba, maybe, but Merino was injured last night, Aarons seems to be injured half the time and I would argue we have better options than Colback. Mitrovic is the divided one given his hot headed acts of lunacy, although Shelvey was restored after his own idiotic behaviour against Spurs, and by scoring against West Ham before getting a needless ban, Mitrovic has done more than Gayle.

I'd argue that more than anything else, Perez's lightweight episodes and Diame being not very good means number 10 is a position to improve in January if we're rigidly sticking to 4-2-3-1. Assuming funds are available from whomever holds the reins at the point.

Absolutely baffling not playing Merino against Palace and Southampton. - The way we're set up - he's the only one with enough ability to make something happen. Shelvey really isn't good enough.

Aarons has apparently been fit for weeks - and he can actually control a football.

Salah looking more and more a bargain for us, joint top scorer in the league now with Harry Kane.

Could easily have double that mind, was funny BT commentators saying we haven't spent on a big striker but have got a natural finisher or something along the lines, when he misses more than he scores.. Saying that he gets 3/4 chances a game with his pace and running so will always be likely to get a goal or two

You won't go down I don't think (despite the two very poor results this week), but your squad seems to be seriously short on quality. For example I don't think anyone is going to get 10+ league goals for you.

I think Drogba would struggle to score 10+ goals in this side with our tactics.

fwiw Mitrovic got 9 last time......

We're not in that bleak a position at the minute - fwiw, we have as many points or more than we had at this stage in each of our last 4 Premier League seasons, and with what is probably a weaker squad than in those campaigns. Plus that demotion 2 years ago is much more to do with McLaren being kept in post for too long, or indeed being appointed. Could even argue we could be looking at a rosier outlook had Gayle's goal been allowed - looked on to me, just.

Even accounting for that, I'm not gonna say its all rosy atm. I think our defence is relatively alright (Manquillo aside) but our attacking play is an issue, be it lack of energy in attack, or playing the wrong game with smaller strikers, or poor buys, or dropping in intensity after not scoring in the opening half hour. Its also certainly not assuring that Man U or a half-decent Watford is the pairing to start the cavalcade of games from now to FA Cup 3rd Round weekend.

As for other clubs, I genuinely don't see Dyche being Everton boss in the post-international break fixtures, seeing as Burnley look in a pretty rosy place atm. But then who knows. Although certainly the case for Billic still being in post is much harder to argue... fuck knows why Moyes is being suggested as a replacement, mind.

What a win. All the more satisfying for beating Roger East as well as WBA. A more clueless, inept, one-eyed performance will not be seen anywhere in the country this season, aided and abetted by two chimpanzees running the line. One of the trained chimps managed to flag players offside from throw-ins twice. The other missed a deflection from a cross so large it diverted the ball 90 degrees when it happened less than 10 yards in front of him - and also managed to miss the foul on Schindler that somehow led to Schindler's first booking. I can't puzzle out how Schindler was booked in that situation, when the ref is 50 yards away and guessing and the linesman is less than 10 away and yet can't see a clear foul. His second yellow was, on another day, quite possibly a booking, but when the ref has already allowed Hal Robson-Kanu to commit identical fouls twice without censure there's no way his first foul of the match should have seen him picking up a second yellow.

It lent to a contest where Town were by far the better side but ended up having to hang on to a deserved three points. VLP's goal was a stunner. WBA may argue about the free-kick in the build-up - the only time a borderline decision went our way, but to be honest even if it wasn't a foul the ball had dropped to Mooy. The free-kick didn't actually matter in breaking up the play. To be fair to Pulis, who I expected to criticise the ref, he hasn't done that and I think he sees it more as a borderline decision that went our way. Which it was.

A word for James McLean, however: Get to fuck, you fucking disgrace. His tackle on Ince was a shocker and to then go and have a go at the Town fans is not on. How he only got a yellow (without the obvious explanation that the referee was Mr East) is just as baffling as Schindler's first booking.
